    I sent two shotguns, a Purdey and a Dickson, to Paul Lippold (the owner of R.G.S. Restorations in Oshkosh, WI) in February of 2014 for repair (The Dickson was doubling) and restoration (The Purdy was to be have its meatal work refinished and the gun restocked. The Dickson was to have its case colors redone). I received the Dickson back in the fall of 2014. It appeared to be in good order, but I did not test fire the gun to see if the trigger was repaired. After two years of communication with Mr. Lippold where he made repeated excuses about why he was delayed in completing the work, I asked that the Purdey be returned to me. It arrived (in pieces) in August of 2016. I took both guns to another gunsmith (Dewey Vicknair in PA���[*** Link removed ***] who evaluated the work This is what the Mr. Vicknair wrote: PURDEY: "Since material was removed from both the standing breechface and the barrel breechface, a new, oversized hinge pin will need to be made. This is no small matter as Beesley action Purdey hinge pins are a complex part. The barrels will then be blacked down to the standing breech. All of this cannot be done until the standing breech is trued up, since the material removal was apparently done freehand and it's not remotely flat. - Setting the barrels by the needed amount will mean readjustment of the ejector mechanism is needed. - The striker discs will need to be fit to the breechface as they now stand proud because of the amount of removed material from the latter. New discs may need to be made. - All exterior surfaces must be trued and sharp edges and corners restored due to being damaged by a buffing wheel and a vise. This will obliterate most/all of the original engraving, which has been damaged/smeared by the buffing wheel. - All screws must be made as the originals have slots damaged by ill-fitting screwdrivers and rounded edges from the buffing wheel. - Restocking, including finishing and the correct flat-topped checkering. - Engraving - Appropriate metal finishes The labor estimate is 200 hours minimum @ 85/hr (17,000 dollars). This is not a quote and does not include the cost of engraving which is approximately 8000 dollars." DICKSON: "Here is what I found regarding the Dickson. It isn't good news but not quite as bad as the Purdey. - barrels off the face due primarily to a worn hinge pin and hook and secondarily from movement of the frame during case hardening - ejectors inoperative (both) - single trigger mechanism has multiple bent parts, a poorly made replacement shift mechanism retaining screw and is generally out of adjustment - all screws in the trigger and lockwork are damaged from ill-fitting screwdrivers - ejector pivot screws damaged (all four) - triggerguard was buffed and blued without recutting engraving The mechanical repairs will require 45-50 hours (3800-4300 dollars)." I communicated with Mr. Luppold explaining my disappoint with his work and sending him the report from Mr. Vicknair. He declined to accept responsibility for his incompetence.

    Came on time and finished job on time. Putting felt on Snooker table is difficult and different than pool table as it is 100% wool. You can't find many people around who do it well. An inexperienced guy can easily rip the cloth if he doesn't know how to do it. The job was very well done. Thanks much!

    HORSESHOE MINI STORAGE
    We had rented a unit in April of 2016 from Horseshoe mini rental. We only need it for a couple months to store our stuff while we were showing our house as we sold it. Only thing we could find wrong with the place was that there are NO CAMERAS, but I figured that since it was out in the country we should be fine. At the time there were no other facilities available. Unfortunately, within a month we had our unit broken into. Over $15k worth of things were stolen. A lot of things were replaced by OUR insurance (the owner does not cover anything that happens to the unit, so our rate went up because of this too), but there was some stuff that we did not realize that was missing until after we moved (we also missed the 6 month cut off to report it). To be honest though, the thing that hurt us the most were the things that had sentimental value to them and were irreplaceable. The good things about the place is that the owner was available when we called him (or if we left a message he would return it promptly) and it was very easy to make our rental payment online.

    Grandfather Clock Repair LLC
    Mr. Bill Meilvaine arrived on time and went right to work in servicing our clock.  He had with him all the necessary tools etc. to accomplish this task.  He was very personal and professional.  He explained to me some things I did not know about my clock.  I watched (because I was interested) in everything he did.  He took his time and expertise in removing all the parts, cleaning and adjusting them and reinstalling when finished. I was worried that I would not find a good clock person in the area I had just moved.  I went online and found the business called, Grandfather Clock Repair LLC.  Also I found out he is on Angie's List, Great!  I called him immediately. He is located in Madison, WI.  Also worried that he would not service the Oshkosh area but found out he does.  Anyone  needs a very efficient, professional clock repair call Grandfather Clock Repair LLC.     Mercy Medical Center

    I give Mercy Medical Center an "F" (while treating my father who had a stroke) for the following reasons:

    1 - My father was very hungry two days after the stroke.  When I went to the nurses' station to talk to them about it, each of them looked at me like, "What do you want us to do about it?"  None of them offered to get him something to eat.  I asked if he could eat soft foods from the grocery store and they said that would be fine.  So I left my father and family at the hospital to go to the grocery store to by applesauce, pudding, yogurt, etc.  He ate a lot, he was so hungry.  The staff on duty at the time didn't seem to care.

    2 - The next day (Day 3), the nurses on duty said he couldn't eat any of the soft foods I had bought for him.  When my Mom told them that the nurses from the day before said it's ok, she was met with very sarcastic and rude comments, such as, "Well maybe the doctor changed his diet."  No explanation was provided.  This was the first time my mother lost it.  Her strength throughout my father's medical emergency had been clear, evident and inspiring.  However, the sarcasm and obvious indifference by the nurses on duty at the time was very difficult for her to handle.

    3 -2:45 p.m. on  the following Thursday:  My father was in the middle of physical therapy. Suddenly, the staff told my mom that Dad needed to be out of the hospital by 3 p.m.  During this 15 minutes, they rushed my Dad and Mom out of the hospital.  They didn't provide any discharge information.  There was no "continuity of care" discussions.  There was no information provided to my parents about long-term treatment.  It was clear that getting them out of the hospital prior to 3 p.m. was the priority - must have something to do with billing.


    If given a choice, I would never send a family member to MMC again.

    As I was in and out of consciousness, all I remember is that they did try to help me the best they could, before they reached the point where they had to take me over to the other hospital. They gave me some stuff for pain, just basic. They finally let me see my wife after several requests, as I was in their critical care and they were waiting on the doctor to respond and he talked with her. So, it was just understandable but at the time when I was awake I would say is my wife here, could I see her and then I really do not remember if they gave me a runaround or what. When I was there, they did control my pain.

    The Internet is separate from the cellphone. I have data on my phone and texting also. I have four phones and plus Internet. It is like unlimited texting and data, etc. Regarding their service, well it could be better. They are good about responding to you when you say I just lost another call, but it continues to happen; though I think they are as good as anybody else. I am not motivated to just look elsewhere. I am not sure how the cell phone companies work, but their towers, like I live in Oshkosh and yet if I pick up my cellphone and dial there is a way of tracking where you went and I sometimes go to a tower in Menasha, which is further away. Why would not they go to a tower right here in Oshkosh, I have asked that very question and the technicians are very concerned, but they end up saying I do not know. Sometimes the reception is wonderful and other time it drops the call and that is always at the most inconvenient moment. Connecting online through my phone or through my computer is pretty good, it could be better but I would not complain. They never leave you with the feeling of tough luck. They try to make you leave satisfied that you have been actually helped. When they know they have not quite measured up they are apologetic and seem to say we are available in the future and we will get this. I think the technology is just beyond them and it is so rapid that even their best technicians cannot really keep up with everything.

    I bought a trombone case after talking with the staff. I was looking for a trombone case to fit an older trombone with a "F" attachment. The staff ( 2 very helpful and pleasant professional girls ) came up with a way to modify a case they had in stock at a great price. I was uncertain when I walked into the store but after just a couple of minutes I was feeling comfortable and felt they really did want to help and not just sell me something expensive. I said we found a case at a great price which far below another case I had considered and I think this one fits better being it was customized for my wives horn.We had talked with the in store repairman and it was then I felt confident that the case could be modified and it turned out great. I also had the trombone cleaned and minor repairs completed being very satisfied I decided to place this recommendation here.I recommend Heid Music and if I am looking for anything in the music area I will go back to visit this store.
