  • Kris, owner of KJ Services, was great to work with! His service was prompt, the quality of work was exceptional and his pricing was fair. Kris is one of the best contractors I've worked with. I would definitely call KJ Services again!

  • 1.MY NEW OVERHEAD AREA LOOKS LIKE CRAP.CUT CORNERS BY USING LOW GRADE WOOD.ALL END PIECES HAVE ROUGH ENDS,TO LAZY TO SAND SMOOTH.I HAVE 2 POSTS THAT HOLDS UP THE OVER HEAD AREA THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT SIZES(ONE IS FOUR INCHES SHORTER)HE KNEW ABOUT IT AND JUST LEFT IT WRONG. 2.SLOPPY FINISH CUTS AND JOINTS, YOU CAN'T MISS THEM. JUST OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK. 3.INSTALLED RAILING SYSTEM WRONG.DID NOT USES SUPPORT BRACKETS AND THE LOWER SPACER WAS NOT INSTALLED.BUT THE UPPER ONE WAS INSTALLED.RAILING POSTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOUNTED ON TOP OF DECKING NOT OFF TO THE SIDE.THIS THE CORRECT WAY FOR INSTALLATION OF THIS MATERIAL. (COMPANY IS ULTRADECK) 4.INSTALLED SCRATCH AND CHIPPED COMPOSITE DECKING BOARDS.DID REPLACE 4 BOARDS BECAUSE OF THE CHIPPING.(AT FIRST DID NOT WANT TO DO IT)BUT REFUSED TO FIX SCRATCH ONES CALL ME "PICKY".IF HE PAID ATTENTION TO THE BOARDS THAT WERE BEING USED THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAVE COME UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.PLUS TO SCRATCH COMPOSITE MATERIAL IS NOT THAT EASY. THE BASE SKIRTING AROUND THE DECK IS ALSO COMPOSITE MATERIAL. FOR SOON REASON HE INSTALLED A PIECE WITH A 9 INCH SCRATCH ON IT AND THEN IT DOES NOT COVER THE ENDS OF THE DECKING BOARDS IN THAT AREA.NABER KNEW THAT THE BASE SKIRTING MATERIAL WAS ONLY 14 INCHES LONG AND SAID NOTHING TO ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE. SO NOW I HAVE BETWEEN A 1 INCH AND A 2 INCH SPACE THAT IS NOT COVERED.(FOUND OUT THAT THEY MAKE END CAPS FOR THIS PROBLEM) 5.THE BASE SKIRTING HE INSTALLED IS NOW BOWING AWAY FROM THE DECK .PLUS A SHORT SECTION OF RAILING ALSO HAS A BOWING. 6.CLAIMS I EAGLE EYED HIM, BUT WHEN I NOTICED HE WAS INSTALLING THE OVERHEAD STRINGERS WRONG...CALLED ME AGAIN "PICKY" AND REFUSED TO CORRECT HIS MISTAKE. 7. USED MY NEW RAILING AND DECKING AS A WORK SURFACE. CUTTING,SCREWING PIECES TOGETHER,SAWING AND DRAGGING MATERIAL CROSS IT.ON LAST DAY CLAIMS I CHECK HIS WORK...BUT HOW CAN YOU INSPECTED SOMEONE WORKMANSHIP WHEN HE IS STILL WORKING ON IT!!!WHEN HE DROVE OFF NABER KNEW THIS DECK HAD ISSUES.SO I CALLED HIM ON 5/18 NO REPLY.CALLED HIM ON 5/19 NO REPLY.BUT NOW THAT THE CHECK CLEAR (5/20) HE ANSWERS THE PHONE. I ASKED ABOUT THE POSTS BEING DIFFERENT SIZES...STATED HE WILL FIX THEM.ALSO STATED THAT'S ALL THE REPAIRS HE WOULD DO!!AGAIN CALLED ME "PICKY"I TOLD HIM TO STOP WITH THIS PICKY THING AND THEN HE TURNED OFF HIS PHONE. WILL NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORKMANSHIP AND NOW I SEE WAY.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND CLAIMS UNBEATABLE HIGH LEVEL OF SERVICE,THIS TIME YOUR NOT EVER CLOSES.THERE ARE MORE ISSUES THAT ARE NOT STATED HERE.CALLING ME AND MY WIFE "PICKY"AND CLAIMS TO BE COURTEOUS MINDED....NO!!! RUDE...YES!!! NO REASON FOR THE WAY ACTED.HE GOT HIS MONEY($7,800)AND I GOT A BIG EYE SORE. THERE A LOT OF GREAT CONTRACTORS OUT THERE....THE NABER GROUP SHOWED ME THE KIND OF CONTRACTORS TO STAY AWAY FROM.....PLEASE BEWARE!!!

  • From the beginning walk-through meeting with Nick to the completion of the job this was a very positive experience. Nick and his entire crew were very prompt, professional, and yet friendly. They went above and beyond what they were asked to do and were willing to answer all questions and give suggestions where appropriate. I will be sure to call them again when needed and would recommend them to anyone I know.

  • On our first visit my wife and I went to Lamperts looking for two new outdoor lamps to replace the old ones that were no longer working as well as several other home improvement projects.  They only had one of each style of lamp in stock.  We asked if they would order a second lamp to match the one we liked and we double checked that it would be the same.  They confirmed that it was the same exact lamp and they would call us when it came in but we have to pay for it before they will order it which we do.

So we returned to the house (45 minute drive up the peninsula) and installed the first lamp and we really liked it a lot.  A week goes by and we call to see if the new lamp is in because they never called us back and we find out they had it two days prior.  So I go to get it and I tell them that the box looks different from the one we bought but they say that it?s the same.  So I take it back and open it up to find that it?s a totally different lamp with the same bar code.

I call them and they tell me first that they can?t order a new one unless we come in to pay for it first.  I explain that they ordered the wrong one.  I end up driving back over there and they try to blame me for the mix up for buying to lamps that don?t match.  They end up ordering a new one after I argue enough that they don?t make me pay for the third one but they want me to return both.

Another week goes by again I have to call them and they are upset at me because the shipment came in the other day but they didn?t unload it so they don?t want to check to see if my lamp came in.  I explain to them that our first visit was done on our first day up on our vacation and we are going to leave in two days? we need to get the lamp.  Later that day I call again and they confirm that they have the lamp but they aren?t willing to describe the lamp to me so I can bring only the one I need to return.  So I end up taking down both of the lamps to bring in so I can pick up the third lamp and exchange one of the others.

Not once during the whole situation did anyone at the store say sorry, we were dealing with the same three people every time and they seemed upset at us at every turn.  Furthermore the $200 worth of outdoor lamps was one of the cheapest things that we bought that first day for our home improvement needs.

I would never shop there again.

  • On the positive side they removed the old back patio, along with the sidewalk that led from the patio to the garage at no extra charge. They also helped spread 15 yards of dirt I bought, to help level out the backyard at no extra charge.
On the negative side it was hard as heck trying to get these guys to return our calls. The owner has no clue on what goes on and said we had to contact the foreman "Tom". Both the owner and foreman would only return are calls if we made repeatable calling attempts over the course of 2 days. After the work was completed, it was evident that there was no "Pay attention to Detail". Some corners were smudged, the sides of the step had a different color then the rest of the patio and there were multiple cracks and smudges along the lines in the concrete. Most importantly, on the patio along the sides of the step, there were multiple big black smudge marks. It took repeatable phone calls for 2 weeks before anyone came out for an hour and sanded down and erased the black smudge marks. Also they were about 6 weeks late on when they were originally going to start. Tom is a very nice guy, but the customer service was horrible and don't be surprised if nobody returns your calls!

  • We ended up ordering the materials but only after finding another retailer that could answer the questions. Home Depot matched the price, but is not very well versed at material knowledge. Go else where for answers!

  • KMF Construction completely reconfigured the kitchen in which they knocked out the living room wall and converted it to a breakfast bar. This opened the kitchen up to the living room which included having a beautiful view of the large East facing picture window. They also relocated the sink, dishwasher, stove, and provided an above stove microwave. They also installed custom marble-tile counter tops, custom tile back splash, and various custom cabintery and woodwork. We were truly pleased with the woodworking skills of this company. We were sold after seeing some of the custom cabinetry photos of past wreck rooms and kitchens that they had built. When he provided the same quality craftsmanship on our home it made the whole project worth the experience. Even with the downturning economy and poor home sales in mid-2010, our home sold after being on the market for only 4 weeks. A majority of the posititve comments from buyers was toward the kitchen. Now that we are in our new home my family and I have been looking forward to updating this kitchen with the assistance of KMF Construction.

  • Prompt estimate given, very knowledgeable, professional, and informative without being pushy. Owner came out himself, and returned calls rather quickly. I was able to make informed choices without any pressure tactics. Work was done on time. Deck looks great. Actual carpenter who did the work was courteous, cleaned up after himself, and was considerate of my need to let dogs out occasionally and work around my 3rd shift schedule. My only concern is that no follow-up phone call, written details, or visit was conducted to provide me the information I would need for care of the deck/wood to ensure it will last me several years.
