We've been using Carrington for lawn care services the past 3 years and couldn't be happier. They have great customer service and are always very responsive to any questions we have. The crews are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They also did a small firepit/patio project for us a few years ago that turned out great. They are a bit more expensive than other contractors we've used in the past, but feel strongly that you get what you pay for!

Carrington maintains my lawn on a weekly basis for the past two seasons. They do an excellent job and are consistent and punctual. We also have utilized Carrington for various landscape projects including the installation of a natural stone retaining wall and landscape lighting. Their attention to detail is impeccable, and their communication is second to none.

Outstanding in every respect. Design, workmanship, quality of materials were all superb. They started when they said they would and they finished on time. Very punctual each day and easy to talk to when we had questions or suggestions. The entire team worked very hard to make sure we were happy and we are completely satisfied!

5 months after they completed the job I'm still compelled to look at my new patio every day. It is simply the best home improvement investment I've ever made. And I'm confident I'll feel this way years from now. Because as good as it looks aesthetically I'm confident that the foundation is solid. I knew a brick paver would look good on the surface, but what earned my confidence in Greenscapes and Bob Wambach was the time we took talking about what was going to go underneath the patio. Talking about the structural integrity of foundations always interests me because I know that's the best way to ensure long lasting enjoyment and best value for the investment. Bob and Lee and the rest of the Greenscapes hardscape team did a fantastic job of building a fantastic patio AND taking care of the customer. They respected our house and our neighbors homes and the neighborhood. Every day they could simply have left all their equipment and made starting the next day even easier for them, but instead they ensured everything was always cleaned up and really limited any disruption for any of us. Some TDS cable laying contractors were working behind my house the week after Greenscapes finished and they left their equipment all over the neighborhood overnight and I had it out with their supervisor when they returned the following day because my expectation now is that anybody can clean up after themselves on a daily basis. Greenscapes has raised the bar and created a new level of expectation for me. I would do business with them again in a heartbeat. My project wasn't even close to being the biggest they've ever done, but it was a HUGE deal for my wife and me and they made me feel like it was a HUGE deal to them. Lastly, Bob and team delivered just what he had designed and showed us electronically. I knew what he designed would transform our backyard, but between the time we agreed to do it and the time the project started I wondered if they'd be able to make that design a reality. They did it!

We hired this company because the came in with the low bid among several highly regarded landscape companies that we interviewed. In retrospect, we really regret this decision.
First, the small stuff. After they seeded the lawn, wind blew much of the seeds into the mulch beds where the grass grew much better than it did where it was supposed to grow. It's been a couple of growing seasons and our grass hasn't fully taken off, largely because I suspect they didn't use enough top soil. It would have been nice if they had checked back with us to see whether the seeding was successful.
Many of the shrubs that they planted have failed (some were replaced under warranty). Again, I suspect inadequate topsoil is at least partly to blame.
The garden trellis that they built initially was flimsy, collapsed and had to be replaced.
Finally, they built a large patio out of pavers. This project was a substantial investment on our part. Within a year, the patio collapsed into a hole. When they came out to look at the job, they claimed that there must be some issue below the surface and thus was not their fault. They then presented us with a large estimate for repairing the patio. Because we were dissatisfied with their services all around, we sought alternative bids for fixing the project and went with a different company to repair it. During the repairs, the entire patio had to be excavated and we found evidence that the base underneath the patio had not been properly compacted (as required by the paver company). Moreover, there is other evidence that the patio was improperly installed in terms of the sand that was put in between the pavers. That sand began washing away shortly after installation and will take several thousand dollars to redo.
So, it was bad enough that our project had so many failures, some of which have involved very expensive fixes, but what was most disappointing was the unsympathetic and utterly unhelpful response on the part of Herman Landscaping.

Earl and Tony were very careful with our delicate plantings--they even made a box to protect a fragile specimen.
They created a much better foundation than we had previously for the planter and wall, and selected the appropriate stones to use.
    They were very professional!

They did very good work, very quickly and very professionally.
The weakest component was the irrigation system. The head of that program was very nice, however, he didn't explain the permit process and the meter needs for our community. While they push that off on the plumber, it's nice to have checks and balances because we did have a problem and it could have been avoided if The Bruce Company was more full service oriented. I also felt that the irrigation project manager was not fully engaged in what would really solve the problems. Now we have a whole bed that seems to lack the water it needs. Therefore things don't seem to survive. They say that you can use hoses to support that area, but isn't that why I spent nearly $6000 on an irrigation system? He now works at a major competitor.
Since then, they have let go our landscape architect (down sizing) and the new one is less responsive. The good news is that even last summer (2 years later) they were standing behind their work. The bad news is that they brought us replacements that were not always healthy themselves nor the same size as the original. AND they were going to plant them until I asked them to return with better specimens. The guy doesn't return my emails. If I call, he'll call back with vague confirmation that I'll be taken care of. Seeing the previous replacements, and having nothing in writing concerns me. I've had to nearly beg him to put it in writing. Wil he work there next week? I don't know. And that's why I want paperwork that shows evidence of our conversations.
So, would I hire them again? Maybe. I need a few more plantings but I'm not interested in working with the new guy. Too bad all these companies have allowed their weaker representatives to hide behind voice mail and emails.

On construction day, Drew came out and discussed the project issues with Karl (the construction crew chief) before construction started. The construction took most of two days and involved a BobCat, 2-3 truckes and a crew of Karl plus 2 assistants. Everything seemed very well organized as Karl has been doing this work for a few decades. We appreciated that Karl took great care in measurements and planning in order to get the patio and stoop laid out properly and sloped properly for drainage. Things were measured and checked at least twice before Karl proceeded. The crew was also careful in cutting and laying down the pavers to vary the pattern, matching the level of adjoining stones and keeping seams uniform.
In the end, we are very happy with our new patio area. We think that the UniLock Yorkstone pavers really look nice with the natural Lannon stone edging that Drew suggested. The shape of the patio, also suggested by Drew, enhanced the look of the patio area and makes it more functional. It was a pleasure working with Drew and Karl and crew on this project. We give Herman Landscape Service an A rating based on our experience with this project.

Glacier Landscaping will take your ideas, your half-formed ideas, or your fleeting thoughts even -- of what you might want in your yard or garden, and turn them into a magical reality, with both creativity and skill that one can only hope for in company.   They have turned our yard into a wonderful, peaceful incredible place to be --
We almost didn't hire Glacier based on past negative reviews here.   I struggled for a while with listening to these reviews or following my instincts to hire Glacier.  We obtained 3 estimates for our project, and ultimately -- thankfully, my instincts won out.
If you are considering hiring this company, I welcome you to do the following:   call Taylor, the owner of Glacier, and tell him you'd like to see the project his company completed in the spring of 2012, with the patio that overlooks a pond, and has a beautiful bridge crossing the pond too.  Glacier will provide us with your contact information, we will call you, and you can come see the kind of work this company does.
While we had Glacier building the pond and patio at our house, we also had a major remodeling project indoors -- for our kitchen and bathroom.   Every single workman at our house said the same thing -- they hoped that they were still here working when Glacier finished, they were so excited to see the work and the progress.  Our contractor is now referring all of their clients that want any kind of outdoor work done -- to this company, because they were so impressed with Glacier's need for perfection, their creativity, their professionalism and incredible quality of their work.
Glacier  knows what they are doing.  They are everything you could want in a landscaping company:  creativity and skill.   If you ever wanted a pond, to listen to the sound of water outside of your kitchen window, call them now.

We had an excellent experience with all the people associated with Ralston, from the owner to all the workmen. Most importantly, we are very pleased with the final result! They were attentive and responsive during the design stage, bringing their own good ideas and listening to our wishes. Our design idea demanded some complex structural elements. All that complexity was handled in an open, competent and confidence-inspiring fashion with all appropriate attention paid to material selection, city building codes and permits. Once construction commenced, the workmen were very professional: punctual, respectful and sincerely interested in our satisfaction. To underscore the point, during demolition of the old deck the carpenters had the presence of mind to protect and replant two of our rose bushes without prompting from us. It's a little thing, but it still impressed me. I'm thrilled to be able to report also that after almost a year the construction has withstood the seasons very well. We've observed no construction flaws, no weathering issues, no settling and no water run-off problems (knock on wood!).
