GREAT! I've hired Scott Wozny (owner) previously and would recommend him without hesitation. This time he washed, primed & painted my over 100 year old 3-story farm house & replaced the deck flooring, stairs & railing outside. Inside he gutted 3 plaster & lath rooms, did re-framing, insulated, added drywall, painted, added woodwork, laid waterproof vinyl flooring and porcelain tile, added backsplash in my kitchen AND was instrumental in recommending other small contracting companies for jobs that he did not do: electrical, plumbing, countertops, patio replacement, etc.

Mr Handyman of Waukesha & North Milwaukee County
We hired Mr. Handyman to complete a drywall repair. We had two spots in the house that plumbers cut out for repairs. I called and was surprised that they gave me an estimate over the phone and scheduled the appt to do the work right then. I went with it because I wanted the job done and the price seemed reasonable. First off the handyman showed up to do a drywall repair and did not have any drywall or supplies. Why would you show up with nothing? He had general tools but no drywall. So the first day he spent 3-4 fours cutting the spots out. They charge over $100/hour. So four hundred dollars into the job and the job was 10% done. The next day he showed up and we ran out to get drywall and supplies and they charge extra for trip charges. The company only scheduled him for 4 hours on my job. So by the time we got the supplies he only had 2.5 hours to work on my job. We (emphasis on we - I was his help for the entire job) got drywall into one spot. No mud or tapping. So now I am into this job $800 and the job is 25%. I am so ******. I called to complain and they claimed that he spent most of the time fixing previous work. Such BS. They wanted to schedule a followup appt to finish the job. I said no thanks and I called a drywall company to fix. The handyman also did not tape anything off so there was dust everywhere. I cleaned up after everything he did because I didn't want to pay him $100/hour to vacuum. And the next day I noticed a couple outlets didnt work. I am not sure what he did. Another thing...I also helped him with the job the entire time. Placing the drywall, screwing it in, holding it up, I went to the store with him and I cut 2x2s for him with my chop saw. The only thing they did good was showed up on time. I would not recommend these guys. Hire a pro not a general handyman if you want the job done right.

    Frisch Drywall
Mike did a great job for us. We had two areas in our house that had been cutout by plumbers for repairs. I had previously tried to hire a handyman to fix it and he spent 7 hours messing around and the job wasnt even half done. I could Mike to come and save the day. I could tell he new what he was doing and had all the right tools. He completed the job in two days and it looks great. Once we get paint on the walls you will never know. I learned my lesson. Hire a draywall pro, somebody that knows what they're doing.

    Old World Builders & Remodelers
So happy we had our kitchen remodel done by Old World Builders & Remodelers, Rolfe & Paul are the best! Rolfe worked with us on different plan scenarios and options to fit our budget. Rolfe kept us updated on every stage of the remodel, everything went according to plan. They showed up when they said they would and left the area clean every day. Rolfe is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. We got the kitchen we wanted and under budget! We liked the quality of work so much we had Rolfe and Paul come back and install windows. We have and will continue to use Old World Builders & Remodelers again. Quality work done by trustworthy guys!

    SERVPRO of Milw North
Quite possibly the worst company to work with regarding home renovations. The project managers do not return calls in the midst of project work. Home renovation took 6 months when it should have taken 2 months maximum. Our home was left in a "working state" for 4 months with no kitchen/running water/laundry and no work getting done because the company was "too busy" with other projects. Contractors/workers were sent to our home at all hours of the day and evening (some showed up at 6p) to do work, no definitive schedules or timing ever given to us by the project manager. I had to take off over 7 days of work just to meet with the project manager and contractors due to no definitive schedule- the project manager always showed up late. Our home, while living in it, sat for weeks without anyone coming to conduct work. When trying to reach the project manager our calls were ignored. This project was a massive and profitable project for the company and they were unprofessional. I would never recommend working with this company. The worst customer service and unorganized.

Not only does the unit look great, but Scott and his helper were extremely neat, did not get paint on any of the decorative woodwork and cleaned up after themselves. The patching done was excellent, cracks were repaired to a point where they were not visible after painting - and all this on a home built in the late 1800's. In addition I received a discount for paying in cash - something I ask every contractor I hire about. The cost listed below is the full cost, prior to discount. Scott met the deadline by a week and I would certainly hire him again!

2nd Life Home Repair & Remodeling Services LLC
This was extremely disappointing for us. We went with 2nd life in large part due to their positive reviews on Angie's list. I wanted to post this review, along with photographic evidence, so that nobody else has to go through the same thing we did.
Full disclosure, they did provide a discount of about $450 when all was said and done. That being said, we still paid $2,700 for a job very poorly done. We are now having a tile contractor rip out and reinstall the shower surround, which will cost an additional $1,400.
A brief outline of the shoddy finishing:
-The faucet switch was not even screwed on all the way. I had to fix this myself.
-There was no silicone placed around the faucet switch or faucet. Any decent handyman knows to do this. I had to do this myself.
-The shower arm was not threaded with enough plumber's tape, causing leaking into our basement after a few days. I had to fix this.
-The shower surround was installed at a crooked angle, clearly shown in the photo below.
-There was no caulking done along the upper/outer edge of the shower surround. I had to do this myself.
-There was no caulking done between two edges of the tub surround (the pieces required finishing with caulk to seal the edges). I had to do this myself.
If you want the job finished sloppily and without care, hire this company. They clearly subscribe to the "mine over matter" saying - if it's not mine it doesn't matter.

    JB Custom Drywall LLC
Overall the work went very well.  I inquired through Angie's list with them and several others.  As I included plans and a written scope of work with the inquiry, all service providers where very responsive.  I selected JB Custom Drywall based on the completeness of their bid and level of confidence I had after speaking with the owner, Jon.  I asked him to come out and confirm his bid by looking at the site directly, which he did in a matter of a day, and kept his pricing as bid.  Even though I had to delay the work a few months for inspections, he still kept the same bid.  He was flexible with moving the schedule a time or two as we got closer before we finally honed in on the install around the Christmas and New Years holidays.  Again he was very flexible and accommodating to my schedule where we needed to be out of town for a few days.  The work included all walls and ceiling in a workout room, a bathroom and then all walls around the entire basement and enclosing the mechanical systems in the middle and installing drywall around all the overhead ductwork.  All of the crews he had out to perform their professional specialty (loading in the materials, hanging, taping and sanding and then the applying the knockdown finish) where excellent at their craft and very punctual, hardworking and professional.  The work completed in the time he estimated and I am extremely pleased with the final result.  Everything looks fantastic.  I would recommend them to others and have already recommended to a neighbor down the street who saw I had work being done and inquired with me.  Very satisfied.

    Colorwheel Painting LLC
We were impressed and appreciative of the cost, quality, and delivery of services provided by Colorwheel.
The cost was competitive relative to other quotes (there was much prep work to be done - walls were heavily textured).  Colorwheel was on time from the initial quotation appointment through the final inspection of work done.
Our painter was a very detailed craftsman who showed us his progress daily, and completed the work on time and under budget.   We would recommend Colorwheel and use them again for future projects.
