  • Everything was great in the beginning: done on time, looked great and cleanup was fantastic. Once they had our money and we needed service afterward, everything fell apart. When a window leaked after a bad storm, we were told more than once that their service person was 'extremely busy" and it would be a while before he could get to it. He finally "fixed" it again, only to have it leak again in the same place. After an identical hassle trying to get him out here again, he "fixed" it again; and yes, it still leaked after another bad storm. Only now I was billed for his second visit. I protested to Al the owner by email, laying out the entire situation, and that even according to his own website "That’s why all Kool View products come with a Lifetime Warranty, for as long as you own your home." He did not.respond-- twice. The bills kept coming, and I finally refused to pay. Al finally responded, saying that the warranty against leakage was five years ( 1) This was not explained upfront and 2) we were within that the first time we informed them of the problem), but he said would cancel the bill. Real nice, since it never should have been issued to begin with, and the leak is still not adequately fixed. But wait, there's more. Shortly after their legitimate five-year warranties expired, the motor on the heating unit went out (ka-ching-- $1800), followed by the thermostat on the floor heating mat (ka-ching-- $300+) I understand that they are not directly to blame, but they did spec these products, and it added to the overall headaches, especially when the person who replaced who replaced the thermostat-- a Kool View sub who installed the original-- had to be bugged many times over six months to come out. I'm giving Kool View a D instead of F only because when everything is working properly, our sun room is a very nice place. Ironically, we gave them the job partially because they seemed more professional than the other options around here, which seemed like glorified general carpenters. We were sorely disappointed, to say the least, at their service after the sale, especially for what we paid.

  • We had purchased our home in 2008 and loved the open feel and light from the sunroom addition that the previous owners had added to the kitchen over 20 years ago. Unfortunately we started to have issues with leaking, floor softness and the final straw was ants and wood rot! We found out that the entire thing had to be replaced and was out of warranty. Estimates and diagnosis were very difficult as there was no way to tell what we would find under the floors...The timing was terrible for us to repair anything, but it had to be done or we faced further damage to our house.
After weeks of multiple quotes and proposals from several companies, we decided on Washa, not because they were the low bidder, but because they had made multiple visits, really cared about making it work and had provided a "vision" (those vaulted windows!!!) of what we could do that was exciting and added value, rather than just a repair.
Steve was very up front with the fact that until we got into the demo, there was every possibility that the estimate would increase quite a bit. Unfortunately the worst case scenarios were true and the costs were more. However, we were not surprised at all by the increases and Steve made sure we understood everything along the way. The professionalism and communication all through out the process was absolutely wonderful. Everyone involved at Washa and everyone that came to work on the house was polite and easy to talk to and always went above and beyond in minimizing any intrusion into our lives.
The work went very well and despite some weather the project was finished in time for house guests and a party for the Holidays! It is so incredibly beautiful! The final addition is so much more than we expected we could have and I do have to pinch myself almost everytime I walk into the room.  It has truly improved not only the value of our home (already got the tax assessment increase:) but also the quality of our lives. Thank you all so much!

  • We had a screened-in porch, and we had them basically take that out and put the glass windows in.  The guys came, took everything away, and they cleaned up after themselves.  I did not have a problem with that, but what I had problem with was afterwards; we had water leaking into the room along the floor, and I just kept calling and calling, and they were very responsive in coming out, but it took five times before they finally were able to get it fixed, so I was very disappointed as far as that aspect of their work.  I was very happy with the room and everything else, but it was just a followup and how many times I had to call, and I had to keep waiting for it to rain to see if it was going to leak in again.  I still think there are some leaks, but we are just going to fix them ourselves.  I would use them again in the future if needed.

  • Everything was first-rate all the way.  Deck was reinforced and design was accommodated smoothly into our house, but at a "unit" price that was lower than total custom work. Work was performed as scheduled.  Owner and workmen asked us preferences on small items all along the way, instead of just "assuming" things.  Cleaned up nicely every day after work.  Very few callbacks, but they were handled quickly and professionally.  First rate all the way!
