    J&J Stump Removal
Jacob promptly returned my call; two days later the stump was gone.  The stump itself was 4' in diameter,  an old giant of a silver maple that had been cut down several years ago. That service (not  J&J) only cut down the  stump to 5"below grade.  After a solid 2 hours work it was gone.  Jacob was very professional and courteous even though he had already put in a full day at his other job.  I would hire J&J back in an instant!

    Schalow's Nursery Inc
Landscapers/workers were kind and professional. Some trees were not staked and are now leaning. Workers were sent on two occasions without necessary equipment. Including staking materials. The design was free and extremely well done. Their plants and trees are a bit more expensive.

    All Seasons Tree Service
I'd contacted them in the Spring and then decided to put it off to the end of the growing season. I had to call a couple of times because he was on to other things including exhibiting at the fair. He was nice about it though and did come round. The work was done in part of a day and cleanup was excellent. Stumps were removed and we've planted more controllable shrubs again in a couple of the places. Super nice guy who I have come to rely on for tree removal and pruning.

    Back to Nature Tree Service
Perfectly. He had the best price. Arrived at the appointed hour. Safely and efficiently felled the tree exactly where designated. Cleaned and carried away all the debris. Totally satisfactory!

What a great experience!  Before meeting Jeff I wasn't sure I was actually going to get my yard done.  I was having a hard time finding someone who could do both landscape and hardscape within our budget.  From the first phone call I knew this was the company.  The woman who answered the phone was very sweet and professional.  I got a call back from Jeff  pretty quickly and scheduled a time for him to come see the project.  Our backyard was a sore sight with half dead grass, holes, a grade into the house and a few cement pads.  We wanted a generous patio with a built in grill. an irrigation system, a grass area, a lot of herbs and fruit trees, an area for the raised bed garden and all of it organic.  Jeff made a bunch of notes, a lot of great suggestions, took some measurements and said he would get back to us in a few days with an estimate.  A few days later we got an estimate a bit over our budget, but that was my bad I never told him how much we could spend.  He was able to make a few adjustments to bring down the price.
Once we accepted his bid he put together a fantastic rendering of the project and a timeline of about 5 weeks. His crew arrived on schedule everyday.  They were a group of great guys!  Always professional, willing to answer our questions,  and very friendly with our German Shepherd.  Jeff was always in communication either by phone or email.  I had to go out of town during the project, but Jeff called me from the nursery so I could still help pick out the herbs, bushes and trees.  The total project lasted 6 weeks from demo to punch list and finished on budget.  It was well worth the extra week.
We are enjoying our dreamscape so much.  We are out there all of the time using the grill and enjoying the out door living of So Cal.  We are also already enjoying fresh organic fruits and veggies from our beautiful yard. Even though the job is long done, Jeff is still available for questions.  I recently emailed him to see if I needed to do anything special to protect the plants from a rare coastal frost a few weeks ago.  He called me back within an hour of getting my email.  Then followed up a few minutes later with an article.  A few days later he emailed again to see how everything fared with the cold weather.
We will certainly be calling Jeff again when the time comes for our front yard.

    All Seasons Tree Service
I contacted Tim Freeck through a referral from a trusted source. I was definitely not disappointed. He returned my call promptly from a message I left on his machine. I described roughly what I wanted and he came to give me an estimate. He's busy so we worked around both our schedules for that. We reviewed the damage from the Autumn storm and came up with a plan which he quoted after going back to his truck and figuring for about 10 minutes.
I accepted the next day and he let me know it would be a few days because he had some jobs ahead of me. When he showed up, he and a helper got right to work. I watched some during the job and he took the time to answer all my questions. When the trimming was done they cleaned up and put down dirt and seed in the stump holes.
At every stage he was professional and courteous. It was easy to see the work was done right and the cost was very reasonable. Tree work can get expensive but I thought Tim's charges were very fair. I was very pleased at how well they cleaned up. Time is now my tree guy. And because the clean up was so good, I need to get out there and mow before the leaves blow in again.

Overall, it looks decent from the road.  However, when you actually look at the lawn from the driveway or go to the back half of the backyard, the majority of the lawn has not come in at all; there are numerous bald spots, expecially throughout the back yard.
The drain tile was installed properly and the garden in the back was removed
One plant seems to be missing from those planted in the front yard, so it is lopsided.
The rocks in the back yard were not all removed; there is a large amount of them still in the back and in an oval around where a pool used to be.
The grass in the backyard is extremely lumpy, filled with debris, and was clearly not smoothed over or leveled anywhere; the soil seems to simply have been dumped and roughed in, but it cannot be mowed over.
The other half of the lawn was not smoothed out as requested and, while mowable, it is unacceptable considering the job I was told would be done several times.
I have tried calling them for two months, very nicely, just to get them to check it out.  At first they said it was too early in the season.  So I waited a month and have been calling them once or twice a week for a month trying to get them out just to look at it and now that they know my number, they simply hang up on me before I even say a word.

    First Choice Tree Care Inc
They are very knowledgeable. They are registered. They are personal and work well. They do beautiful trimming of the trees. The chemicals they use works very well. They do fertilization and root repair. The people are very friendly. They are very expensive.

    Northern Tree Service
Shane, our contact bid this out as a side job, giving us a cheaper rate. Three men showed up on time but Shane was 1/2 hour late. Northern Tree Service and the three men did a good job, the trees were cut down in a few hours. Shane who we found out was late due to being hungover from the night before, started to cut the pieces down to size but wound up throwing up in our back yard and had to go to the hospital. He stated he would be back which he did, and only spent about 2 hours cutting. That was the last we saw of him. He mentioned at least 3 times he would return to finish the job, but has never returned. We did pay Northern Tree Service the $500 as the men that were here did a good job and deserved it, but we still feel that he should follow up on his word and finish the job. We have called multiple times and have gotten excuse after excuse and the last call ended in him hanging up on us. We will be finishing the job ourselves, with the help of some friends this weekend.

    Leon's Tree Service
Leon either answered his phone or called me back promptly. They came when they were scheduled and did the work in the amount of time he predicted. He called after the job was done to make sure I was happy with the work. They did everything he said they would and cleaned up the area beautifully. He was also considerably cheaper than the other company I received and estimate from.
