Siding reviews in La Crosse

He came out here once and I had some issue. A piece of the siding came down. And other things that should be work on.He was to come back and work on it. I call him a couple of times. He did not call back

The crew they subcontracted to do the work was exceptionally professional, did great work, and we would definitely work with those men again. We had nothing but broken promises and bait and switch from Mike, our sales person at First American and we are very dissatisfied with the entire process of working with the actual employees of First American. If it were not for the subcontractor, we would rate them an F. What saved the review/ ating was the actual installers (who are not employees of First American).

Dave and team did an outstanding job! Listened well and were very patient with us as we worked through the process. Made special arrangements to stop and discuss issues/plans, made special trips as needed to pickup products and deliver. Tim and others from Dave's team did an outstanding job on the work. We were very happy with the quality of the work, quality of communication, promptness, etc..

We received the insurance papers with a check for fifteen thousand plus dollars to get started that had to be signed by both of us plus La Crosse Roofing.
Casey Niven their estimator came out ,picked up the insurance papers to make copies for them and we were told he would bring them back plus color samples for the metal roof and siding. He now has a fifteen thousand plus dollar check and we have not seen him since. He has not come back with color samples for the metal roof or siding. Work can not get started until we pick out colors for both the roof and siding. .That was last Monday September 23, 2013 when he picked up the insurance papers and check. . It was yesterday September 30, 2013 when I called and left an angry message with still no response.
I don't know about other people but I do not usually do business with companies that blow me off like this after they get our money and would certainly not recommend them to family or friends. Very angry and disgusted with the whole process.
Not a very professional way to run a business.

Men have now finished most of our house and it looks great. They still have to come back when warmer to calk the windows
and clean up all their material. We still have supplies that belong to them on our enclosed front porch and a trailer up on the side of the house with equipment in that belongs to them.

We received the final payment of twenty thousand plus from our Insurance Co. for the completed work and I turned it over to Ben Sprain owner of La crosse Roofing with the understanding they would come back when the weather is warmer to caulk the windows and clean up all their equipment.

Our house looks great and we are happy with the completed work. But I would never go thru having this kind of work done again during winter months when everything depends on the cold weather and takes much longer to complete. The young men that did the actual work were very pleasant and careful with what they did.No problem with the actual workers at all. They were great. Just glad to finally have it almost completed.

The crew was very professional and did a wonderful job. Our house is not just the typical square box. We have a very extreme pitch to the roof and several dormers to be dealt with. Lots of detail work. Also, as they removed the old aluminum cladding from the windows, they found a LOT of rotted wood and had to replace most of it. Tom recommended a few improvements that we would not have thought of and they were definitely worth the small additional price. The guys showed up on time every day and cleaned up after themselves each night.
We selected Tom Geier to do the work because he had done the roof and siding originally (almost exactly ten years ago) and they did a great job then too. We had gotten three estimates to do the work this year and Tom was the most reasonable pricewise, too.

This is a 62 year old house that needed new siding and windows and front door. We hired Brad Sime to do all three tasks. The work was started and completed on time, and was done well. The best indication of that is that we didn't call back even once with problems after Brad completed the work and we made the final payment. After he removed the existing aluminum siding and wood siding underneath that, he applied foam board and cement board siding. We hired him because of his experience with cement board siding. The siding work was professionally done and looks good. The foam board insulation was well applied and taped, and integrated well with the new windows. Brad replaced bad boards when he found them. The window replacement and door replacement also went very well. The Marvin double-pane windows were installed according to manufacturers recommendations, which Brad was quite familiar with. Azek trim boards were used for external trim, and look good. The one quality comment we have is that the internal window trim was done kind of quickly, and though it's quite functional, it doesn't look as artistic or as well finished as we'd like. That's the only reason we marked him down as good quality instead of excellent quality. All external work was excellent quality.

Brad was always open to questions and comments, and had knowledgeable answers. He was pleasant to work with, and we'd hire him again for work like this. He's a one-man crew, and said the work would take a month. He scheduled it when it was most convenient for us and for the weather. He worked steadily and completed the work on schedule. The work was phased to prevent any inconvenience to us.

They called me back right away; they sent me the estimate and asked me when I want it done.  I am very happy with them.  They estimated $9000 for the deck work.  They seemed knowledgeable about the job.  I was able to pick out the type of deck I wanted.  They had a fair price; their price came in a lot better than other companies on the siding work and they did an excellent job on my new driveway.  They do a very nice job.  They listen to me and their work is very good and they cleanup.

He was very prompt when coming to give estimates. It took about 72 hrs from visit to written estimate. He went through the city laws to ensure that our fencing would meet current regulations. We ended up changing our fencing plan when we found out we couldn't put up a privacy fence as we planned without risking a huge fine. He brought catalogs with high quality siding and fencing for us to look at and choose from. Once we chose our fence and siding, it was about 3 weeks for them to come in. They were installed in about 1week. In the meantime his workers started the painting. They helped assist with color selection and accenting around the windows. It looked fabulous- for about 4 months then it peeled off on a window sill, and on the door. They did not remove the locks and knobs when painting the doors. That was a little annoying. The screens at the time were fairly individualized to each window as we hadn't replaced the windows yet. The painters put 3 of the screens in the wrong windows. They clearly didn't fit. We allowed FOD to keep their sign in our yard about 9 months after completion as we wanted to use them again for the windows. We hired them to replace our windows. During the process, they had to reduce the casing on a couple as his guys did it improperly the first time. One of the windows came in the wrong size so that took an extra 1 month to complete. We have a very old house that had thick trim around the windows that was replaced as it had lead paint. When removing it, they put a large dent in the plaster wall by the window. They did not comment and did not fix it. When he realized that the usual trims would not fit, we discussed how to proceed. I had mentioned when we started the project that we would likely need custom trim for at least 4 of the windows due to the plaster and walls around the window. He had forgotten this. We agreed that he would make custom trim for an additional cost. It looked great. One piece came loose right away and he fixed it. As the project was finishing, we noticed a gap above one of the windows that was seen from the outside. He told us he would fix it. We waited. It didn't get fixed. He promised that since we let him keep his sign in our yard for over a year on a busy road that he'd have our window trim painted for free (the exterior trim). This didn't happen. I paid his people to do it. They had problems with the screens again. They didn't reinstall them properly. It allowed one of our pets to push it out bending the screen and get outside. It bent the screen to an unusable state. I told him about it and told him that I just wanted him to know his people had trouble with screens. He said I shouldn't have to deal with replacing the screen. He would take care of it. 6 months later all I had was excuses and no screen. and quot; The company didn't call me to tell me to pick it up. They sent it back. They ordered the wrong one.and quot; In the meantime, one if the pieces of siding lifted away at a seam. During one if the calls about the screen, he promised he would look at it. He said this 3 times. There were excuses each time as to why it didn't happen. Finally, I told him that a was very displeased and to please just tell me how to order the screen and I'd take are if it myself. I have heard nothing back. Most of the work was done well, though it took some time to complete. The time it took would not have bothered me if he simply followed through on fixing the things he said he would. I prefer local contractors in general and am a good referer to my friends, also young couples with homes that occasionally need work. I would not work with Field of Dreams again because he proved at the end to have poor follow through and lost my trust.

They arrived on time, finished the work in a timely way, and did very high quality work.
First the roofers came.  They re-roofed this large house in just five days.
Two weeks later the siding crew came.  They did an impeccable job throughout.  Quality was tops.  This crew -- a different crew -- took a little longer, about two weeks.  But the siding was a bigger job.
    We strongly recommend them.

All work was completed promptly and professionally. I did have one complaint which was taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. There was a small section of siding which pulled away from the house due to the cable wire running behind it. Several of my neighbors have since hired T F Construction without any complaints.
