    The first year we had them they were great- with timely treatments and great results. Our lawn never looked better. This year the treatments seem a bit delayed, and the lawn is not as lush and green as last year. Our service provider this year does not seem as knowledgeable but perhaps is a new hire and learning. Not so bad that I would not give them another try.

    We dropped our lawn mower off on Saturday, May 10th, and we received an email on Wednesday, May 14th indicating it was ready, ahead of schedule (we were promised it by May 17th). 
    When we dropped off our mower, Derek took the time to explain fully the service that would be performed.  He also had a lengthy conversation with us about how to take care of it during the season and how to handle it before for storing it for the winter.  Most importantly, he inquired of the type of gas we had been using it and recommended non-oxygenated gas.  He explained to us why this type of gas should be used, how to store it (on wood; not a cement floor) and after asking where we lived, told us the closest service station to get the gas at.  He also offered to dispose of any old gas we had at the house.  When we picked up the mower today, Derek emptied our gas can (as promised), again explained the service provided on our mower, disposed of the old parts (they were provided for us to look at and we had no reason to bring them home), and then loaded the mower into our vehicle.
    We spent a little over $120 for the full tune up and parts.  I'm sure you could get a tune up, at least the labor part, a little cheaper, but I'm certain you wouldn't get the customer service, knowledge, and expertise from a guy like Derek.  We will be bringing our snow blower in this fall for a tune up, and look forward to Derek teaching us how to take care of it as well.  Many thanks to Cedar Small Engine!

    Called at approximately 1:30 pm and obviously woke up employee. Asked him to call back when he could discuss the job that needed to be done. He called back about 3 hours later and took location information. Said he was going out of town for a few days on a job and he would call me back when he returned. Cannot comment on quality of work by Larson's because they never called back, so never did the job. I contacted another tree service I had used before several times and would highly recommend Eytcheson Forest Products over Larson's for any tree work.

    This individual, Al Helander, stopped by looking for work one day as he was forming a new business (Shore Up LLC) doing yard cleanup and maintenance.  I asked him if he would split a bunch of cut logs to fireplace size that I had sitting in a ditch off my driveway.  He indicated he would be willing to do this.  I asked him to provide a quote and a written bid for the complete job.  I also stated that I was not in a big hurry and that he had all summer to complete the work but I needed it done by the end of the summer so that my wife and I had the time to stack and cover before the snow came. He wanted to do some work pricing a wood splitter, etc before bidding and I indicated that would be fine.  He stopped back a few weeks later to provide me the bid.  He provided a dollar range for the work and I indicated if we split the difference down the middle I would accept the bid.  He would never come out and say he agreed with splitting down the middle but seemed to be OK with that so, to prevent any misunderstandings, I requested  he send me a written copy of the bid.  He never sent a written copy of the bid.  Around July, I called him to verify that we he was still committed to do the work.  He returned my call and indicated he still intended to do the work but that he was waiting for  cooler weather.  I indicated that would be fine as long as it was completed by the end of the summer.  He again agreed to this timeline. I again asked him to send me a written copy of the bid so, again, there was no misunderstanding of the work and cost.  He indicated he would do that.  He again never sent a written copy of the bid.  July and August came and went.  In September, I started calling and leaving messages for him to return my calls as I needed to know when he was going to be able to get the work done.  He refused to return any of my phone calls. Since I was going out of town mid October, I left a series of phone messages indicating I needed to hear back from him, and that I was going out of town, and that I needed the work completed by the latest October 23rd when I returned to allow my wife and I time to stack and cover before winter.  I know the messages were going to the right place as it clearly indicated Shore Up, LLC on the phone message but he continued to refuse to return my phone calls. I just returned from my trip, the work is not done, and there is no return phone messages.  What is the most upsetting is this individual drove up my driveway looking for work and we tried to help him out.  This individual is totally unreliable and I would avoid Al Helander and Shore Up, LLC completely.

    They were very fast. They finished within budget and had helpful suggestions.  He even came back to give us some pointers for the yard and shrubs at no charge.  I was so impressed with the work they did!
