  • Matt Jenson of Luck Windows and Door - a subcontractor for Home Depot came out on 1/26/2016 to replace the door and side-lights. This guy could not install our door square or level. The relief  around the door and each side-light was uneven on every side. He'd square up one side and the other side was way off.  He kept telling me I had to "pick my poison" in regards to either a level door and uneven relief or even relief and an door that was uneven. While nailing the outside molding, he split it and tried to cover it up with caulking. When he installed the inside molding, I could drop a #2 pencil between the wall and the molding. When nailing the door frame to the house, he used screws that put large holes in the door frame and tried to cover these up with caulking also. When done, you could look from outside and see that the threshold was bowed about 2 inches.
    I have never seen such a sloppy job in my life!

    I had the manager come out that day to take a look at the door. He then had his #1 installer take a look. Both agreed that the door was not install properly. Home Depot ordered another door which was supposed to be installed on 3/7/16 but I received a call on 3/6/16 from the manager stating that this new door was defective and they were ordering a THIRD door.

    After waiting 3 weeks and not hearing back from Home Depot, I called to inquire as to when the door would be replaced. It took another 2 weeks to get this scheduled for 4/19/16.

    #1 installer for Home Depot replaced the door and although he did a much better job of installation, the door is flush at the bottom but not at the top. After opening and closing the side-lights, you can pass a very thick piece of cardboard through the lower latch side of each. 

    The installation manager came out on 4/28/16 to look at the current issues, took pictures and agrees that the side-lights don't seal properly but thinks they can adjust the latch to resolve this. He also stated that the door is warped, causing it to bow inwards on the inside. He stated that he needed to talk to his #1 installer to see what else they can do to resolve the issues.

    On 4/29/16, the manager contacted me stating that his #1 installer was out for the week and they would get back to me once he returns.

    It is now, 6/2/16 and I have yet to hear back from Home Depot on this issue. 

    After more than SIX MONTHS, this issue is still not resolved!

  • I'm still working with Home Depot on a door replacement. It's six months since I started that contract with them and they still don't have the door done properly so I was going to write a review on Angie's List when that's all done.

  • Installer was friendly and polite but for some reason could not install a brand new door with sidelights properly. They could not level the door properly and kept telling me I had to pick my poison. The relief on both door and sidelights is uneven. I cannot open/close one sidelight without pressing on the frame otherwise, the very top corner of the sidelight rubs against the frame. The threshold is curved because they put shims at the corners of the frame and none under the center of the door. It looks like the letter U.
    The interior moulding does not sit flush with the wall - I can place a pencil behind it.
    The exterior vinyl brick moulding was not installed properly as I would have to trim the top piece in order to install a screen door.
    The installer tried installing the moulding with screws then removed them and used a nail gun. He shot nails on an angle that put a hole in the frame and tried covering all of this up using chalking. There is a section of the frame that clearly has a split in it but was covered up with chalking.
    In my opinion, once he had all these issues, he should have contacted Home Depot for assistance on what to do. Not once did he point out the damage that he did to the outside frame and moulding.
    They did not do a good job of cleaning up afterwards and left a huge pile of sawdust in the snow.
    Home Depot came out later on that day to inspect the work performed ad agreed that the installation was not done properly.
    Home Depot sent their installation manager out the next day and also agreed that this was a very poorly performed installation and they placed an order with the door manufacturer for a new frame and moulding.

  • There were two men an older gentlemen who was the complainer and a young man who did a great job on the back storm door.
    The older man just complained and my front storm door is off on the top and I am going to have to make repairs myself.
    I did pay them for the door but I did minus overtime pay off the bill, but they never even called to ask if I would like someone to come out and repair the front storm door.
    I would never have them do any work to my house again
