Appliance Repair reviews in Grafton

On the initial visit the repairman was distracted on the phone (for an understandable reason) and left to attend to a family matter before the problem was viewed. Based on my description of the problem, he said he thought it was the main computer component, the ECU. He left saying he would get me a price on it and call me with a quote. He did call me the next day and we discussed and I told him I would call him back after I discussed with my husband. Shortly after on that same day, I called and left a message saying we wanted them to order the part and go ahead with repair. I left that message on a Friday afternoon. By Wednesday of the following week I had not heard anything from Bloch so I called to make sure the part had been ordered. The woman I spoke with (Sue?) said she was sure the repairman had ordered it but she would have him call me. He called me several hours later and asked me which part it was again and what was the problem we were having? I believe his distraction from the initial visit was the reason for this. After discussing the part and problem, I expressed some displeasure that I had left a message on the previous Friday and we were now at Wednesday and the part had not even been ordered. He assured me the part was coming from nearby and they should have it by the end of the week. He called me the following Monday to say the part was in and scheduled to come out later that week. He came back and installed the ECU and let the dishwasher run for awhile and left assuming it was working. That night we tried to use the dishwasher and it didnt make it through the cycle. I called again the very next morning and told him what was happening and he came out a third time to see what was happening. We let the dishwasher run for awhile but the problem did not present itself while the repairman was there. I showed him a video I had made of the flashing lights and the problem. He was confused as to what else it might be and said we could try some other parts but I said since we had already spent $375 so far I didnt want to just keep guessing what it would be. He offered to do some research and see if he could make a contact with someone at Whirlpool but said they wouldnt usually talk to them about a Sears product (Ours was a Kenmore Elite). We spoke again a few days later and he said he wasnt able to get anyone to talk to him from Whirlpool. I said I had done some research on the Internet and this seemed like a common problem with this dishwasher and according to Sears Parts Direct online it typically ended up being the lid switch mechanism. He didnt seem to know what that was and again said he would do some research and get back to me the following week. I never heard from Bloch again and after waiting 3+ weeks we decided not to waste any more time or money and we purchased a new dishwasher. We have contacted Bloch and asked them if they can return the brand new ECU part they installed which never got used so we can at least get that part of our money back ($200+). We are waiting for a response but I dont expect one!

    Sears Appliance Repair
The appointment was cancelled once the day of because the technician was "caught on a long job" before my appointment so they called that they were coming the next day. The following day they were late for the 4 hour appointment window and didn't have the necessary parts. The parts were ordered and another appointment set for 2 weeks. For that appointment they were again late because the technician was "caught on a long job". They don't call when they are going to be late and just expect you to sit at home and wait. When I called about the location of the technicians the representatives are rude and don't seem to care that this has happened multiple times. The technicians are not professional at all and one of them woke up my baby from his nap by being so loud. I only use them because the home warranty is paying for it and I would never use them if I was paying for the repairs myself. I didn't have an over for over one month throughout this whole ordeal

Dave is phenomenal. In this day of what seems to be the lost art of service Dave is a rock star. We have had him fix a dryer and a dishwasher and both appts were on time, quick, professional and very reasonable. Dave is a non BS guy and honest. He is our go to guy for household appliance repair.

Had a bunch of excuses about how busy he was because of personal issues. Also how he did not know the Angie's List deal was going to go live. Finally found out that he does not work on "all appliances" as the company name seems to promise. He does not work on water softeners.

Update - Response to the appliance expert:

My bad not understanding that a softener is a "Water applicance".  Maybe list the items that you DO work on so us lay people don't have to guess.

That still does not explain all of your complaining and excuse making BEFORE I even mentioned that the item I wanted fixed was a water softener.

Monday morning after waking up to a room temperature fridge, I started calling repair services. Based on Angie scores, All Appliance was called - no answer. I read the location and decided coming all the way up to Grafton from that far was probably out of range - so I didn't leave a message. Three or four service inquiries later, the quickest service I could find was still some 30 hours out. In the mean time food is being salvaged - drippy messes are being cleaned - then the phone rings.
"This is Steve from All Appliance. I see that you called. What's up?" His first questions were not about my availability to schedule service "next Thursday". He went straight to diagnosing my fridge's problem, asked a few more specific questions, then told me he could have me up and running by 3 or 4 the same day - he needed to take care of a few other calls while the replacement part was ordered and picked up. I canceled the other service appointment I'd made.
He showed up after four, went to work, fixed the problem and gently suggested simple regular maintenance an owner could do to extend the life of the equipment - as he removed handfuls of pet hair from the compressor shroud.
Overall, he was responsive, knowledgeable, timely, reasonable and if you're keeping him company, pretty chatty. All good. I'd tap his experience for future repairs and/or projects beyond refrigeration next time.

Dave is so great that I hesitate to say so here....I want to keep him available for my handyman needs!!!  If I could afford it, I would put him on a retainer.  He is great.  I think he can do anything, and everything he does, he does meticulously.  Easy to work with, nice easy-going guy, incredibly willing and helpful, and always has loads of advice, ideas and suggestions for the best way to do things.  I will definitely be calling him again and again as I find more things to be done.  He is absolutely the best.

    Appliance Rescue Service
It was a super expeience. I emailed their site and had a response within 2 hours. Emailed the stove and serial number. The owner was here the next day with the element but then discovered the circuit board was out. Gave me an estimate right then of how much more it would cost. He showed me the part and I could see for myself what he was describing. After giving the go ahead he was on the phone to check if the warehouse had the part in. He left to go get it and returned within the hour to complete the repair. I would call them in a second if I needed another repair for any appliance.

    Quick & easy repair.
The poor guy was so allergic to our cat that he was sneezing, wheezing and sniffling pretty badly by the time he left.
If he weren't allergic, I'd have no problem using him again.
