Siding reviews in Eau Claire

Mark and his team did a great job installing about 300 feet of soffit and fascia around a duplex property for me. They also repaired a gutter and some boards that were damaged in a storm. The work looks great. They were fast, professional and the price was good. Mark also replies very fast when you contact him.

Estimate given through son who never did do the job. After 6 months of waiting, I learned that the son had taken over Special T's business but that he was NOT going to do the job! If I hadn't kept communicating with him (voicemail, text messages), I'd have been kept in the dark. I finally had to tell him to stop ignoring me because I needed to know if he was going to do the job. He replied, via text, that it was too big a job for him and 'sorry'. Special T, as a company, no longer exists. That contractor, who retired, connected me to his son to do my work. I do not know what company name the son uses now. I have no bone to pick with Special T.

His work is exemplary and he is one of the most pleasant  people you would ever want to meet.  Mel and his team have dozens of years of experience across the industry.  I am looking for someone I can use year over year and Mel and his team are that provider.  Clear communications, timely work and quality process.
    Highly recommended.

Bid process was very easy and well communicated.  Job time and process was well explained and made sense. Job site was cleaned daily and tools/equipment were secured. There was flexibility on materials used and full explanations were made.  Final job looks great and done on time.

I was very pleased with the work Special T did on my home which is 36 yrs old. Tim helped me pick out the colors for the siding, shakes and the stone for the front of the garage. His two sons worked on my project and did an excellent job!. They were always very professional, courteous and friendly. They were on the job at 7:30 am every morning and generally left at 5:00 pm every afternoon. They cleaned up the job site every day and were very neat and clean. If I had any questions, they answered them politely and explained their answers for me. When I wanted a change made, they were very agreeable and happy to honor my wishes. They warranty their work and the project came in right on budget. The colors that Tim and I picked out really made the house stand out and look like a new home. I just love it! I have had so many compliments from the neighbors on how nice my home looks and what a nice job Special T did on my home. I would definitely use them again and would definitely recommend them to others.

We decided to get three bids for our project. Our house is about 35 years old and the windows needed replacement. We had the old Masonite siding that was starting to get soft and spongy in spots so we decided to get new siding as long as we were doing the windows. All three companies were very professional, timely and thorough. The cost varied quite a bit due to some of the materials each carried. Seamless steel was much more costly but did have some benefits. We knew pretty early in the process that we would probably pick Chwala's Construction. Bill Chwala, the owner visited with us and explained his products and services. He did the measuring and submitted his bid. While looking at the house and discussing the project, Bill suspected that something was wrong with the way our soffit access to the roof was insulated and explained how it should be done correctly. He also suggested that we look for our own entry Door and he would install it for a fee. The other bids included pricing for an entry door that was double what we ended up purchasing at Lyman Lumber. Bill suggested that we go with insert windows from Parco, a local manufacturer. We visited their facility and saw how the windows were made and met the workers. It was very educational. We decided to go with the inserts to keep the original wood trim and window casements. The windows are measured to fit the opening of the existing window casement.

Bill was easy to contact during the process. He returned calls and kept us up to date as the materials arrived. He helped us by timing the ordering of the door to arrive when the siding and windows were ready. The project started very close to the tentative date Bill gave us early in the process. The two workers showed up on a Monday and worked daily until the projects was complete. We had a few follow up visits as we had to wait a few extra days for the gutters. And, we had the same two workers throughout the project. Dale and Steve were just as committed to our being satisfied with the finished product as Bill was. It amazed me how fast they worked and how they figured out how to make everything come together. They offered solutions and pointed out things that we might want to do now as the work was being performed. One such item was to install electric outlets on our deck. As Bill suspected, the sills under the soffit had never been insulated properly. They cut open all the soffit. Installed the air shoots and insulated with batting. Then they cut open the gables and blew in insulation. We went with a high grade vinyl siding. The product is much thicker and stiffer than some of the products I've seen in the past. Vinyl also offered us much more color options than steel. The windows from Parco are stained on the inside to match our original woodwork. You need to get close to them to notice that they are not one unit. They look and function beautifully.

We have done enough projects to know that none go perfectly. You always run into issues. The difference is in how the problems are handled. The two concerns we had were handled quickly and without question to our satisfaction. Bill wanted us to be completely happy with the finished product, and we are. Not only would we recommend Chwala's construction, We would highly suggest them.

They were wonderful, very courteous and prompt. We enjoyed dealing with them, however, we chose to go with another company instead. They were out a couple of different times and addressed all of our concerns. They were absolutely super nice. Their estimate was between $12,000 and $13,000. We called three different people and out of the three, two showed up and the other one kept calling, "Well, this was happening and this was happening and this was happening." And I said, "Now, can you imagine if he would end up doing the job? We would never get it done." But Liberty was awesome. The basic reason that we chose not to go with them was because we thought that the cost of the windows was really out of line. The estimate was fine for the work without the windows but it was a little bit more than the estimate of the company that we chose to go with. It was about the difference between the cost of the windows. For two windows, it was $2,000 something. One window was small and one was just a normal sized window. As far as the estimate for the work that they were going to do, I had no problem with that. It was basically the cost of the windows but we would at least give them a shot in the future because we would have enjoyed working with them a lot.

The owner (Bob) who also does the actual work is an absolute perfectionist! Our house is over 130 years old so we wanted to keep some of the old elements like the narrow siding, thick trim etc. and Bob completely understood our vision right away. He also offered many great ideas! Bob's father owned a siding company and so he started this sort of work when he was very young! If you want quality custom work, this is your guy; he will not fail you!!! We are working on landscaping now and we get so many compliments on his work from people walking by. I really can't find any work like his around town!! Didn't have any issues and would highly recommend this business and his work!

He schedules to our needs and is punctual in arrival. Tim is very careful with everything he handles or does and his work is excellent, often exceeding our expectations. He is also very efficient in his work and works quietly though he is also very personable. He never leaves a mess behind. Tim is very knowlegable about many, many things but also tells us if he cannot help us and will give suggestions for a type of specialized technician or professional required. We hold Tim in highest regard.
