EcoBest represents Four Seasons Sunrooms. They disparaged that product, "Dairy Queen style," and quoted me $23,700 to add a custom sunroom over an existing deck. They wanted $3,000 down. I paid it. Nothing happened for 9 months. I called them on it, and they wanted $1200 more for drawings. I paid it. They were going to pull permits. A year later, nothing has happened.
Total rip-off. After 2+ years, EcoBest has taken my $4200, but have not driven a single nail, nor delivered a single board. I have been schmoozed on at least four occasions by three representatives, but have gotten nothing but words. My first review (posted a year ago) said I expected to have to take EcoBest to Small Claims Court....they threatened to deliver just the glass...I took down the review, if they would complete the job. That's when they asked for $1200 for drawings. I paid that, and did get drawings that were pretty generic. They needed to add a provision for ventilation, and to bring electric service through the wall for the ceiling fan. Being over 70 years old, I feel I don't have the energy to commute to court nor to fight. Does Ecobest target the elderly? Keep your money in your pocket, or EcoBest will put it into theirs.
Service Provider Response
We would like to respond to this review with the facts of this project. In 2013 we were contacted to provide a quote on building a Four Season's style sunroom. This style sunroom was not an aesthetic fit for our customer's home and we worked with them to design something that fit the style of their home. A price was agreed on and a contract was signed. Our customer provided a deposit of $3000 towards the initial costs and special orders of the project. Namely, the glass packs. This project also required plans from an engineer due to load bearing issues. The customer provided a $1,200 check towards this (actual cost was $1,400, which this firm paid) and we provided the designs to the homeowner for approval. The $3,000 went to purchase over $4,000 of custom glass packs which are non-refundable. This firm also paid for that in full at that time. Before deciding on the final design, the customer requested to put the project on hold for some time and had been communicating with our chief project manager. We put the glass packs in our warehouse and were awaiting the customers contact for when they were ready to proceed. Our company could have started this project at any time with a couple of weeks notice. No notice was ever received. Some time went by and the customer emailed our Chief Project Manager requesting to just cancel the project as it was not working out for them, or their plans with their home. We understood this and did not pursue any legal rights for breach of contract or loss of pre-paid expenses. We offered to have them collect the glass packs which were purchased and they were also able to keep their plans which were paid for. Nobody has ever come to pick up the glass packs which we are still storing. This customer has paid $4,200 towards a custom project which they cancelled long after the acceptance date. This firm has paid $5,400 towards plans and materials (which the customer owns, but has never collected) and this does not count the multiple trips our design staff and project manager made to the property, which is a long drive from our office. We have bent over backwards and ultimately written this off as a loss. Now, almost 3 years later, this customer complains on an online forum without even trying to contact us to discuss (We've had the same phone numbers for years). We will be contacting the customer to find out what it is we can do at this point to satisfy their needs, but the public should know that we are senior advocates and do not take accusations of "ripping off" seniors lightly. We installed over 400 projects in 2015 with 99.9% satisfaction (0% unresolved). We will continue operating as a family owned, customer oriented business. Respectfully, Your EcoBest Family *If any customer has any questions about this review/response, or any other situation, we encourage them to call or come in to discuss. We appreciate having both sides of any story heard and ultimately want our customers to feel happy with what they purchased. We would LOVE to have the ability to complete this project still*
