    T&N Quality Bldg and Remodeling
I am extremely satisfied with my new deck and can't say enough about how smoothly the installation process went. From my first contact with the owner (Mark), I was immediately impressed by his experience (+30 years) and eagerness to help me design a unique outdoor living space. He provided me with some excellent ideas and just completed the first phase of my project--installing the deck. Each member of the installation team was friendly, professional, and worked hard to complete the job. They were meticulous, take a lot of pride in their work, and it shows! (They also didn't mind saying "hi" to my rambunctious puppy, which was an added bonus). After dealing with a number of contractors over the years, the top two qualities I value are communication and quality. T&N delivered on both fronts. Mark kept me updated on the status of my project and did what he said he was going to do. It's a simple concept, but not everyone does it. I appreciate finding companies that operate in this manner and T&N fits the bill. As for the quality of the work, it's excellent. The deck looks great and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We are eager to entertain family and friends on our new deck and my only regret is that I didn't contact T&N earlier. We can't wait to get started on the next phase of our outdoor living space and will definitely use T&N for that project as well as any other remodeling projects we decide to pursue in the future.

I called and left 2 voicemails. Never heard from the guy. I dont understand why unresponsiveness or flaking on commitments is such a normal practice for so many landscapers and handymen, especially by one who is so highly regarded on Angies List. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this gentlemens services. If one cannot even extend the courtesy of returning a phone call, if only to simply say, Im very sorry, but due to how busy I am, I cannot book any new customers at this time, then, in my opinion, I dont see how they can follow through on larger commitments.

125220 Business name: MACPHERSON EXTERIORS Owner name: LELAND DENT Site location: Tacoma WA 98422 Reason for reporting: On or about July 18th I had called Leland Dent of MacPherson Exteriors to remove and replace the existing Railings on my Deck. I then again called again to set up a time to meet at my home and discuss what was needed to do the Job they never came i then called again to find out what had happened Leland Dent said that they had the information they needed from last years Decking project. So he gave me the information to a Lender to borrow the funds needed for the project that was on July 23rd then on July 30th I went on site that was given to me by MacPherson Exteriors and got the Invoice sent to me with a price for the Project of total $6,875.75 with a down payment of $3,437.88 and a start Job Fee of $ 1,71894 so I called and over the phone to MacPherson Exteriors I gave the Receptionist My Creadit Card Number to apply the required money per the Invoice instructions which totaled $ 5,156.82 once I had paid the money described it was difficult to contact Leland Dent after numerous attempts at calling e-mailing and texting him there was no reply through August I called and it wasnt till August 20th he called and said that they would be out to start by August 25th or by the 28th. On August 30th Leland Dent and another person did come out and they removed the existing Railings they then left after telling me that they would be back after the Laborday weekend . They never came back I tried again multiple times to contact them but Leland Dent never returned my calls. I then filed a report to the Wa State Dept, of Labor and Industies and the Better Business Bureauand and called a Lawyer. I still have no Railings on my Deck October 19th 2018 this is a dangerous Safety Hazard now and Leland Dent has taken my money, Now I found out that when he took this Job His License and Insurance and Bond had been Suspended and that He had a $85,000 Judgement against him. This information I got From my Lawyer. Leland Dent still Owes Me the $5,156.82 I Payed Him for this Job. His Suspended Date was 04/04/2018 he should not have taken this Job with a Suspended License. Thats Fraudulence!. MacPherson Exteriors somehow got their license back Tried again to contact Leland Dent but no reply. Theft just theft!

    Bash Construction LLC
Working with Vitaliy and his crew was a great pleasure. The job progressed without a hitch even though contingencies were encountered along the way. Originally, we specified that the deck railing simply be rebuilt salvaging as much old components as possible. In the end, we agreed to a complete replacement of deck railing. This resulted in an increase in cost, but the result has been excellent.

    Fandel Construction Inc
Kelly took the project on, even though it was small. After meeting with us, he presented a design for the deck that was efficient and attractive. We chose Iron Woods IPE decking for is quality and environmental accountability, which increased the price but we are very happy with the choice. Kelly responded promptly to phone calls and emails throughout the entire process, from initial contact to follow-up after construction was done. He helped us through the permitting process, which was particularly easy as he knew the City permitting staff personally. The project was begun in a timely fashion and Kelly completed it exactly on schedule. And the deck is beautiful. Kelly is friendly, professional, experienced, and dependable. You won't go wrong hiring him for your job.

    James Quality Painting
A few weeks ago I hired 'James' of James Quality Painting to do some handywork for me, including building a deck. Everything started off really well with 'James' going over in detail with me what I wanted and plans and price etc. Unfortunately, things rapidly went downhill after that, as 'James' did not follow the agreed upon plan and clearly has little or no experience constructing a deck despite his claim otherwise. By the time the deck was about half way done I was very concerned about it's safety and so asked a retired master carpenter acquaintance of mine to take a look at it. He told me the deck was not up to code, would not pass inspection and was a safety hazard. Problems: 1. The L shaped deck was constructed so it was 7" lower than the existing porch rather than at the same height. 2. The decking and railing wood he used was not treated, and was cheap hemlock with splits, knots and holes etc. 3. He laid many of the decking boards upside down so the grain of the wood is the wrong way and they will be much more likely to warp quickly. 4. The railing uprights vary between 3" and 6 1/2" apart and have been mounted nearly a foot in from the edge of the deck reducing the size of the deck significantly (especially since it is lower than the porch and is a small, L shaped deck already). 5. The railing is 46" high rather than the normal residential railing height of 35". 6. The deck is not attached to the porch or house but is just standing on its own and is shaky - very unsafe. 7. The concrete blocks the deck was put onto were not put onto solid ground, but left on loose piles of river rock. When those rocks move, that deck, will no longer be even remotely stable. It already rocks if I jump or shake it, and I have 2 boys - 10yrs and 7yrs. It's not going to last. 8. He used virtually all nails, no screws, so to fix anything I'm going to have to tear it apart. Not to mention the nails sticking out at random places ready to snag people walking by. 9. He went way over his bid and kept asking for more money for materials. 10. I could go on but I doubt anyone would want to read pages and pages of complaints. Suffice to say I have been left with an unsafe, unfinished, ugly mess of a deck with no railing going down the stairs that I have already paid too much for and am going to have to pay a lot more to fix. When I had the master carpenter talk to 'James' about the problems he listened politely and agreed to how many of them could be fixed, but after my acquaintance left he said he would charge me another day or two of work to fix the problems, and he didn't want to do it the way suggested anyway. He also left all his bags and bags of garbage behind that I now have to pay to dispose of, and an also unfinished bathroom vent. I literally feel like I'm getting sick from the stress of the whole situation. I would rather pay someone new who knows what they're doing. A Final Note: it turns out his name is not James as I believed, but Leland. Leland A. James. If you plan to hire him and have children in the house I would recommend looking him up first.

    Streamline Construction and Interiors
I hired Joe to complete a number of miscellaneous structural fixes for my old house (new to me, but over 100 years old!). Repairs included: - Removal of old, crumbling, non-functional chimney and framing new section of roof in its place - Installation of zinc strips at roof ridge to deter moss growth, rebuild of roof ridge, existing moss removal, replacement of missing (previously-roofed-over) roof vents, and other small roof repairs - Reinforcement, minor rebuilding, and cleaning of neglected gutters - Reinforcement of second floor balcony (placement of two new posts and one lateral support beam) - Repair of two rotting floor joists in home's foundation Joe is a terrific contractor! He is friendly, considerate, and professional. He is passionate about providing the highest quality work! I found that Joe was happy to discuss his process for each type of repair, help me weigh my options, etc. As a first-time home owner, I appreciated his expertise and consultative approach. We will be hiring Joe for projects in the future!

    Siding Solutions
Eugene was the only compassionate siding contractor that would entertain a job of this (small) size. He was willing to come out off hours to take a look at our situation (water ingress from a previously botched window installation) and offered three reasonable solutions to choose from. Most contractors were only interested in large projects. The work was performed in a professional fashion with attention to detail. The results were thorough and done right. Weeks later when our deck professional reneged on his commitment to complete the rotting deck tear out, Eugene took on yet another small project for us: removing the remaining deck and patching up the siding where the deck was previously attached. This was significant because we had already scheduled house painting and the deck (un)professional left us hanging. Eugene saved the day again! If you're looking for an honest contractor, give Eugene the opportunity to bid on your project.

Great. I am a lawyer and CPA having worked for a big Seattle law firm, major corporations and the Port of Seattle. We live in very eastern part of Tacoma and just above Puyallup with outstanding views of Rainier and the Cascades. Our residence is on a significant rise with a wood front porch and two story side decking. Kelly and staff replaced the home's original cedar porch and side decking with an IPE decks and Hansen Architectural Systems Cable Railing. See attached photos of project about 6 months after completion. I felt I could not have this project done by a general contractor. Kelly is thoroughly professional and expertised in all aspects of his work including specifically with IPE decking and Cable Railing. I couldn't be happier. Kelly's workmanship has enhanced the value of this residential property. Kelly and staff were responsive and respectful of our wishes and a pleasure to work with.
