  • I hired DB Construction to build my new home. First the quote purposely left out many thing that they could charge me for that I would have thought would be included, equipment needed, like truck and trailer, and excavating equipment. Plus the house quote did not quote a finished house, but just the shell with sheetrock, then everything else cost way more than a fair price. The build dragged on for about 20 months. Derek said it was the subs fault, but when I talked to the subs they had a different story. Derek was using the money I paid him for something other than my job. He said he had paid for things he had not even ordered, and when I needed them, they were not available. He was charging me for things he said he bought for my house ,but would not show me the bills. when I pushed and pushed I found that he had overcharge me on many things by adding more than a standard management markup and in some cases he charged me for things that I had already paid for. Now I'm dealing with two big issues, I have had calls from two subs saying they were getting ready to put a lien on my property for material that I paid Derek for in 2016 and they had not been paid by the end of 2017 yet. I keep trying to get Derek to provide me with lien releases for my project, but have not received them yet in 2018. I am also not getting DB Construction to fix the items I paid and they have not fixed the punch list yet. There is major cracking (1/4 inch) in many of the rooms where the roof trusses have shifted or sagged. Cracking and dropping of ceiling has caused my closet door not to close anymore. The Project is at least 1k over what it should have cost and the garage is not finished. I have had to hire someone else to finish the work. If you do decide to hire him for anything, be sure to get every detail in writing and definitely get a penalty in the contract for not completing on time. Since my project was over a year behind, and in fact never finished. Also lock down the management fee and what you will and won't pay for such as (drinking water, fixing their mistakes, tools or saw blades they need, and alway only hire him on a bid for the job, not time and material. Anything extra you want, get it in writing what it will cost and how much time it will add to the project. His worker are very nice, but don't expect to see Derek out at the project. He almost never visited the site of my project.

  • This was the second time we have used David and John and they are great. We previously used David and John to remodel the basement of our 60's home and we loved working with them. Unfortunately, we had already contracted with another remodeler to do the upstairs of our home at a later date. When the other contractor turned out to be a complete disaster, we contacted them to see if they would be able to help us out. They've been wonderful!
Any good project has four key elements - budget, schedule, quality and personal relationships.
Budget - As our previous contractor seriously depleted our budget, they've helped us to save money by identifying tasks that we could do ourselves and have provided sound advice as to ways that we can stretch our remodel budget. They have been scrupulous in only charging us for work done and effectively managing their time to give us the "best bang for our buck".
Schedule - They have never over promised their ability to deliver. They "squeezed" us in to their busy schedule and helped us to get our home to first a livable, and ultimately a likable, condition as soon as they could. As their time opened up, they were quick to move us forward in their priorities. We always have felt that they have been committed to getting us to "go" as soon as was possible.
Quality - Although they met the first two criteria with flying colors, this is where they really shine. Their work is excellent. I can't think of any criticism that I could make. In addition, if they don't have the expertise they need to complete some tasks, they help you find someone that can.
Personal Relationships -They're greatl to work with. They are courteous, hard-working, honest, sharing and just a lot of fun. I can't thank them enough for their helping us work through a very difficult situation and moving our home remodel from a disaster to a success.

  • over the years joe dennis has done many jobs at my home.....he refinished a basement ...installed a back deck railings ect...he was always polite and i had met his wife when she came over occasionally.....i always felt safe because joe was a great family guy...and i trusted him....and still do....which is not the issue here..
the last situation he came over for was resolved easily was my i apologized that i was sorry to waste his time and was willing to pay him he said there was no charge........then proceeded to tell me i was an idiot.... i said i was going to mention that to his wife next time i saw her ....he then said "Oh well she thinks  you are an idiot also"....thanks least i am not an a****** like you...oh BTW the back deck you did is sagging badly...the railing you did is still so loose i will not lean on it...and i always paid you more than you deserved.....
i appreciated the call to apologize joe.......i was very hurt....i know you and katie think i am an idiot...because you said so.....that is not a compliment in my circle.....but you are not a bad guy...i always liked you and katie...i felt safe having you at my home but will not do a very good job.....that is not the remember ..."you are the master of your unspoken words....once they are out of your mouth you are enslaved forever"      i wish you well

  • from the very beginning Dan and Pat Mann were very professional. The price was fair, their employees showed up on time every day, were courteous and respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. The project took two guys approximately two and a half weeks to complete.

  • I called and left a message, my phone call was returned the following day. When he called back the following day he asked about the project and asked what the address was and told me he would get back to me. Three days later he called me back and told me that he was unable to do my job because I was out of his area. Keep in mind when we spoke the first time I gave him my address so he knew from the very first time we spoke what my area was. I found this to be very unprofessional. It made me feel as though my job was much too small for him to be troubled with.

  • I contact these guys through their website and put in a request for a bid. It took more than 4 days for them to reply to my request. 4 days for a reply made me feel as though they were not interested in doing my small project.

  • 3-D Construction commited to perform the work to my specification, and he did so on schedule and on budget. I would (likely will) call on Joe in the near future, and encourage my Camano Island and Stanwood nighbors to take advantage of this man's skills!!

  • They are very good and helping natured people. They help the needy especially, but, reducing their costs. They build structures for needy families and give it away. They are very competitive and reasonable. They are honest and very good people. I like their services and will use the same in future.

  • The president, Ed Olson, is great to work with. He comes across well and is honest. He kept me up to date on the timeline and the project went as planned with no surprises. As there were portions on both garages that I wanted to handle myself, Olson worked with me on those without issue. As mentioned, the company built a double car garage for me on 2000 or 2001 and I used the company again for this second garage.
