    TOM KALIN CONSTRUCTION
! Warning! Do not use this company to do any work for your home or business. The owner, Tom Kalin, is a liar, a cheat and a conman who grossly overcharges for any work he may do. He does not give an hourly rate before starting any work, a written bid, obtain permits if needed or guarantee his work. He repeatedly warned us not to call other companies because they would charge us thousands more and get permits at additional cost. He stated that he did not have to get permits because he is licensed with the Health Dept. However after doing some research I learned that he charges more than all the other companies I called and that he had no license, it had expired months earlier. He misrepresented himself as the company I had originally been referred to. Don't trust Google to get you to the right company. I Googled that company's name and Kalin's phone # appeared, the site did not give Kalin's company name. I called the number thinking I was contacting the other company. Kalin answered, did not identify himself or his business, just said "hello". I asked if he was the company I was trying to reach, he lied and answered "yes, that's me". I did not find out who he truly was until after I became increasingly suspicious and did a Reverse Directory search. According to the police this is "fraud by deception. He arrived at our house 2 days early when my elderly husband was very distracted with helping another contractor who was installing an internet dish in our back field. Kalin overcharged my husband $1035 for 10 min of hydrojetting our septic tank using inadequate equipment intended for indoor plumbing only. He NEVER told my husband what he intended to charge for the 10 min of fake hydrojetting. We were shocked to learn later that he had added $1035 to the down payment fee. We actually thought he either wouldn't charge us for this service or would prorate it and had included whatever it was in the quote. In our initial conversation he told me "he knew exactly what was wrong and that we did not need hyd rojetting". I feel he put on a show of hydrojetting to get more money out of us. (The average hourly rate in Spokane for this service is $275.) He then said hydrojetting wouldn't work and recommended an illegal $11,000 underground "honey-bucket" in our front yard that would only last 10 year's. He also said we were at high risk of having sewage backup into our home and needed to get the job done immediately. We later learned this was not true. This fee is more than it would cost to have your entire drainfield redone. My very distracted husband who is in the early stages of dementia was easily duped into giving Kalin his credit card for a 1/2 down payment. Kalin used his wife's business's (Mrs Kalin's Barn) Visa account to accept the payment. Later said we owed him a $900 Visa transaction fee. My husband clearly did not understand what Kalin proposed to do. Also, we usually get several bids before accepting a proposal and paying for anything. After I finally found out who he was, read poor reviews on his site, researched what he proposed to do I called him and cancelled the job. He was very agitated and refused to give us a refund. He harassed me with several phone calls and left a threatening text. He warned me not to write a bad review on his site and said "he knew how to take care of trouble makers like me". It's been 3 months and we still have not received our money back. Plus, I was very frightened about writing a bad review and did not do so until now. I feel obligated to warn the public about this company and recommend that you avoid him. Our experience with this company was HORRIBLE. But, he is probably having a good laugh because he still has our $6035!! I was hoping that if I did not write a poor review Kalin would return our money for the work he did not do. It made no difference. This guy is a a dishonest jerk.

    Vietzke Trenchless Inc
I took time off work to video the complete procedure of pipe busting a new jointless 4" HDPE pipe from the rear of the house to the middle of the street. A huge effort that included closing the street and obtaining a large number of permits and inspections. Despite adverse weather and close quarters between structures the Vietzke crew met all challenges, the whole job flowing like a well led orchestra. Thanks to the experience of the crew led by Chris and the schedualing, oversight of Nathan project completion was 48 hours start to finish. My street and my yard show little effect afterward. I am cofident after veiwing the post repair video that my thirty year headache has been remedied. I actually feel good about paying the bill.

ROOT AWAY SEWER & DRAIN CLNNG
Ken came the morning I called. He was just great and found I had tree roots blocking the hole into the septic tank. After he cut away the roots and cleaned the line everything's good. I would definitely call him again and highly recommend him.

    Gobers LLC
Great. We were in a bind, as our septic system backed up, and we were expecting guests. The Gober folks went the extra mile to get someone scheduled for the pumpout and they did a checkup of our system to make sure we wouldn't encounter problems with our company present. Great people. Reasonable prices. We definitely recommend these guys!

    First Class Septic Inc
Tony came as promised - right on time.  He found roots in my septic which he cleaned out.  He showed me where the "baffle" on  the tank  (pretty old tank) was broken.  He able to make a new one and installed it at a very minimal charge.  Super nice man - would highly recommend him.

    Honeybee Pumping Service
I didn’t have a good experience with them. We were trying to dig the lid but we couldn’t find one of them. They weren’t very helpful in locating the lid. The guy said he is going to charge us another trip charge when he comes back. He overcharged us and I wasn’t too happy about it because they weren’t very helpful.  We got two drying bed and he only pumped one. As far as the pumping goes, they pumped the one tank fine. Their price was high. They came out the day they said they were supposed to. They were on time. The driver was not friendly and he was not helpful.

    First Class Septic Inc
Our septic pump alarm went off. Since this is a new house to us, we did not know we even had a septic pump. After reading all of the positive reviews on Angie's List for First Class Septic, I gave them a call at about 9 am. I first got a voicemail and hung up without leaving a message, but I got a call back almost immediately from the owner, Tony. I explained where our septic system was, and he correctly diagnosed the problem just from my description--a clogged pump. He squeezed me into a full schedule and arrived around 1:00 pm. He removed the pump and found it clogged with tampons. He was able to get the pump working again, and advised me that the pump was running more slowly from the stress of being clogged, but was still working. A new pump would cost over $1000--he thought the best plan would be to see if the original pump would continue working before spending that money. I  agreed and was grateful that he was sensitive to a tight family budget. He charged me $162 for cleaning out the pump.
Later that night around 8 pm, the alarm went off again. Since he was about an hour away on another job and it was almost dark, he talked my husband through disabling the pump and checking if it was clogged again. With his phone instruction, we were able to get the pump working again, but it proved to be intermittent. I called him at 8 am the next morning to let him know the pump had failed again and we had finally just shut it off. He got right over to my house by 9 am. He had a used pump exactly like mine that he had saved from a sewer hook-up, and he installed it and it worked beautifully. He did not charge me for the used pump, or for the second visit.
Tony was very responsive and professional. He kept the worksite cleaned up and he was very sensitive to keeping the cost down. I fully expected to pay him for the used pump and the install on the second visit, but he declined payment, saying it was part of getting the job done! We are very pleased with his work, support, responsiveness, and price. We definitely recommend this business.

What I appreciated even more, he offered DIY suggestions on how to investigate the extent of the problem.  I really enjoyed his  empowerment attitude that we could do that investigating ourselves.  He also came back a couple of days later for a consultation when we were unsure of the next step  .Nice, helpful man!

Tony did an excellent job.  We were unsure of the location of the septic tank, so he acquired the available information on record, located the tank, did a LOT of digging to uncover it, and cleaned it  + gave is recommendations about some changes we might want to make -- ALL on the same day I called him to inquire about availability!
Great job.  Great attitude. Happy to recommend him to anyone who might need his services.

    First Class Septic Inc
Tony was great! Very courteous and professional. He came out and fixed a clogged septic line and pumped our septic tank. Very much appreciated his willingness to get the problem fixed today, even though it was a Sunday and he was working on some repairs to his own house. I would definitely recommend him.
