It turned out that the kitchen sink drain was OK (problem was in the dishwasher itself). The technician cleaned a bathroom drain for us, so that we would at least have some benefit from the service call.

After exiting the shower, I found a very large pool of water downstairs at our main drain. We had a blockage apparently of the water line that exits the house. This was a Saturday yet even on the weekend, someone was at our home in approximately one hour after contact. And hour and fifteen minutes later, the drain was clear. They ran the camera and even upload it to YouTube if you'd like to watch. David was our technician and was professional and courteous.

    Gold Seal Plumbing
The first time I called they did not return my call. The second time they made an appointment, showed up on time and gave me a bid. The new sinks were already installed and I just needed the plumbing connected. They quoted $385 to hook up the faucets and $400 more for the drain. That was for each sink. He also offered a discount of $80 if I bought a $95 membership! I ended up doing the job myself in less than an hour and I spent $40 on parts. It would have gone faster if I had plumbing experience. Beware of companies who bid the job and do not charge an hourly rate.

    Action Drain & Rooter Services
Our usual plumber wasn't available so I checked Angie's List and called Action. Someone was out within a couple of hours and had the job done in 15 or 20 minutes. And at half the cost I'd been accustomed to paying. I decided to buy a gallon of the suggested monthly drain maintenance solution to see if that makes a difference. Nothing else ever did. That added 50 bucks to the $75 service call.

I needed a floor drain assessed and cleared. David showed near the scheduled time and introduced himself. We gathered near the drain site and he went through what his process would be. He proceeded and took care of the clog drain within an hour. I am in the customer service industry and David really gave me a great customer service experience. I would recommend using Bulldog Rooter to all.

As far as the hot water tank, Bulldog did an ok job, they didn't tighten down the pipes to the tank and had to come over the next day to tighten everything up because we had a slow leak. They also didn't have an electrician on staff, so changing out a hot water tank in an older home with older wiring is impossible for them. They put the tank in, and then suggested I call and electrician to get the wiring updated. They could "hook it up" for me and it will probably be fine, but that they'd "recommend getting it updated to 3 wire."(hot, return, ground) Our wiring had no ground cable because it was an older home. I wish I'd have called R&R Heating, to install a new hot water tank. They were out installing a new furnace at the same time and let me know that is a service they provide. And they have an electrician on staff who would've updated that as part of the installation. As far as the plumbing work, they did a great job. Changed out the leaking parts of the tub and rooted the bathroom drain to get it running again. They did leave a giant mess under the bathroom sink for me to clean up, which I was less then happy with. Think black pipe crud in flecks all over everything under the vanity and the inside of the cabinet itself. Joy! But the workmanship was good. I would give them them another chance.

I called and Kay said that someone would be at my house between 1 and 3 PM. Dan showed up a few minutes after 1. He went to work immediately and within about 20 or 30 minutes had the drain stoppage cleared. After clearing the stoppage, we ran water for a while and he ran the line from the stoppage distance (about 60 or 65 feet) out to 120 feet to ensure the entire distance to the city main and well beyond was also clear. He was very professional.

Excellent customer service, professionalism, and knowledge. Justin was very pleasant and patient while helping us with an undesirable situation. Our sewer had backed up into the basement and he was able to clear the line. We had the video inspection completed as well to determine the path of the sewer line. He used the camera inspection to show us problem areas, locate the line, and then gave us a video of the inspection on a flash drive for future reference. If your home was built in the early 1900's, chances are the city does not have a legible record detailing the location of the sewer line. Justin did not try to upsell us on the cameral inspection; I wanted to have it done for peace of mind, and to plan for future landscaping projects that may be affected by sewer line trenching.

Found out the pipes were all cast iron and are quite rusted and have a couple of places where they are starting to separate.  Recommended a company that might be able to fix problem without having to dig up yard to replace pipes.  They fixed the backed up toilet problem and alerted me to a possible future problem and a possible less expensive intrusive solution.

    Vietzke Trenchless Inc
I had sewer coming up in my basement floor drain. I called several different companies and Vietzke was the only company that answered when I called. Brett with Vietzke was at my door step with in 45 minutes. He explained to me how roots may have entered into my pipes. I like that Brett used shoe socks over his work boots, that really impressed me. From start to finish he completed the task in two hours. He showed me all the roots in the line and recommended that I get it cleaned every year or get the pipe replaced. I will be calling Brett with Vietzke back anytime I need work in the future.
