Jeff was not just professional, but friendly and did an amazing job for me! He doesn't normally do concrete work, however since what I had was very small, he assisted me with the fix! You bet I would recommend him to others!!

I called to have them give me an estimate to reface my fireplace. He was short and sharp with me. Then when he showed up he sat in his van unmarked I was unsure who he was sitting in front of my home. I was very uncomfortable. Then 15 min later he came to my door. He was dirty and unprofessional. He asked if I got other estimates and then started bad mouthing his competition. The other companies I had come out never spoke bad of there compition. This was a truely a sign of his character. Not someone I want working around my family or children. Would not recommend them for any work.

I called Archetype and he came out that afternoon to assess the damaged wall. He was expert at identifying the correct matching rock, and returned promptly at the scheduled time with all the materials to complete the repair. I had previously paid a general contractor twice the money to repair this wall the previous year, only to have the rock fall off again within a couple months. This time, i decided to call a masonry expert, Archetype Masonry. He was able to identify the problem, match the rock exactly, obtain the new materials, and very efficiently and expertly repair the rock wall so it looks like new. I am thrilled with his work and would definitely recommend him.

There were several bricks that had come loose on the front of our porch. I contacted Jeff and he called me back promptly to set up a time to do the work. He did a very nice job replacing the bricks and also repaired a larger area around the damage to make sure that there would be no problems in the future.
This is the second time I have used Archetype Masonry (see June 24, 2011 review) and I would highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for an honest, friendly and professional mason.

Beautiful work. The help arrived punctually and had very good attention to details. A big concern for me was the dust from the installation, but because of their precautions this was minimal. I couldn't be happier with the result.

Jeff arrived on time and also had an expert like himself to work with him. He gave us a written estimate which listed exactly what would be done and what was included. My husband had made cement bases and laid them prior to hiring anyone to lay the bricks.
Jeff took care to make sure my husband's bases were level but one was higher than the others. He corrected it so that the height of the brick bases would line up with the horizontal siding on the front of the house. We provided our own bricks that we had been hording. When he applied the mortar between the bricks, they were absolutely even and I saw no flaws. I think it was a couple of days later, when the mortar was set, he came back and acid washed the brick work. Then he was going to come back in two or three days to seal them. The bricks needed to be totally dry before sealing.  We had  about a week of on and off rain and finally sunshine so he let us know that he would be back in 3 or 4 days. We had so much rain and we wanted to be sure the bricks were dry.  He gave us a choice of gloss or non-gloss seal. we chose the non-gloss. Before he had done anything to the bricks, they looked dull and dirty.  Now they look great. The color looks rich. They match the chimney on our roof. He and his helper finished the whole job that day except of course the acid wash and sealant. It was hot the day they worked on the bricks and didn't take a break for lunch, which I think they should have. I brought out ice cold lemonade and Ice water for them. I also gave them some granola snacks when they left since they missed their lunch break. These guys are great!  I hope that when they are on another job and working in hot weather,
they will be offered a cold drinks.  These guys work really hard and with integrity.  I would hire them again, for sure!

Jeff and the team did terrific work.  I believe he quoted very fairly, fixed fee, and added a number of quality extras that one would not expect ordinarily.  Class effort through and through.

Jeff was the best. He explained to us (step by step) exactly what he needed to do to make the repair. He was punctual and very professional. We appreciated his expertise. The project turned out great and for a reasonable price. We would highly recommend or hire Jeff for any masonry work.

The sales process was initially fairly straightforward. Bud led us through the options that were included in the builder allowance for the house. We received the final estimate for the work to be done and gave them the go-ahead to order the materials and start with the house.

The installation is where things started happening. NW Trends appears to hire the absolute cheapest laborers to install everything from the wood floor to the tile showers and it shows.

Incident #1: The person who did the installation of our wood floor splattered stain all over the walls around it, requiring substantial repainting. They also mis-cut one of the boards, leaving about a half-inch square spot missing where the stair post didn't cover it.

Incident #2: The person who did the final finish coat on the floor took off all the HVAC registers and set them on the counter against the window trim, scratching it.

Incident #3: The granite they received in and began to cut for our countertop wasn't even close to the color we had picked out. Their granite guys told us that the showroom sample we had selected it from was at least three years old, and it had steadily been getting more gold since then.

That said, the job they did on the edging and the one seam was impeccable. They also agreed to adjust the backsplash the match the granite at no additional cost to us but not without a bit of a fight.

Incident #4: The tile guy who put in the tile in our secondary bathroom did it wrong. Instead of bringing the bullnose out past the tub as is standard practice, he brought it just to the edge of the tub and stopped. When confronted, NW Trends lied to us and told us we had to specifically request that for them to do it. One of their more experienced tile guys said later, off the record, that, no, the installer had just done it wrong and they were covering themselves. We had to make them modify it to add additional bullnose to cover the corner between the wall and tub.

Incident #5: They did the bathroom backsplashes at different times than the showers/tubs and, as a result, ended up using two very different grout colors in a couple of them. When they came back to fix it, they ended up getting grout all over the faucets, sinks, and toilets.

The only installer that did everything correctly the first time was the vinyl and carpet guy.

Jeff gave us a very reasonable estimate that included pressure washing the entire fireplace, squeezing in new mortar, rebuilding the top and cleaning the rock surface after the mortar had dried. He did an excellent job of restoring the fireplace and took extra care to make sure that he maintained the character of the original fireplace, He always cleaned up after he finished for the day and was very conscientous about discussing any details that might affect the way it would look when the job was finished.

Jeff always showed up when he said he would and was a very pleasant and professional person to deal with. I would highly recommend him for any masonry job that you need done.
