  • I admit that feeling forced to write this bothers me.  I admit my own culpability in the mistake that was made.  It was the handling of the mistake that genuinely has brought me to sharing my negative experience here with others.

    Both my and my husband's companies have used this company for the last 10 years for our printing and embroidery needs.  In the past they've been great, we'd developed such a sweet rapport with the two sisters who own the company, and this is why we remained loyal to them through thousands of dollars worth of orders. 

    With my company's  last order we had created a new slogan consisting of 3 words in a particular order and wanted this slogan printed on our shirts.  We wanted it to be very clear; to show them exactly what the words were and how they should appear on the shirts, so we began the order with a Jpeg image of a shirt vector displaying the 3 words exactly as we wanted them.  It took an inordinate number of emails back and forth choosing font type and flow of the words. When referring to our slogan, every email passing between myself and Creative Ink displayed the 3 words in the correct order with no problem.   They referred to the slogan correctly as did I.  

    At the final phase of the project they abruptly changed the order of the words.  I did not catch it as we were fine tuning the size of the words at this point having already picked the font and flow.  However, in responding back I displayed a side by side image of their shirt vector (w/ the words incorrect) next to a vector I created showing the slogan again as it had always been referred to.  I also posted a text box next to the vector I created referring to our slogan - again - correctly.  I simply did not notice at this point that they had changed the order of the words.  It was the first such error in all of our emails back and forth.

    So, essentially I did not catch their error; did not even see it coming nor expect they would make such an error at that point in the process.  I ended up inadvertently ok'ing the error and paying for both the printing costs as well as separately purchasing all the shirts that were used. Not catching the error was definitely my oversight and I took responsibility for it.

    I budget for and place an order with them every 5 or 6 years.  My husband's company more frequently.  I felt I was a loyal customer and this was a heartbreaking situation to have had this happen.  As neither Creative Ink nor I had ever referred to our slogan as anything but in the correct order, it caught me entirely off guard to have them change it at the last minute.  Even more heartbreaking that I hadn't caught it.I was out the cost of all the shirts plus printing costs and could not sell or use the shirts with the error now.  My discussion with them afterward - because both they and I knew they had erroneously changed the order of the words - was to arrange a compromise.  A refund of printing costs, a partial refund, an admission from them re: their error would have been appreciated.  Instead it became entirely my fault for not catching their mistake.  I then visited them to talk about it, come to some resolution. I showed them all of our printed materials with the slogan correctly reflected  to emphasize the reasons we could not use these shirts with it printed incorrectly.  It was an awkward meeting.  One of owners was defensive and the other remorseful but didn't have much to offer in consolation.  She did admit she made a mistake.  We left the meeting with the individual who had made the mistake reassuring us she and her sister would discuss it and come up with something to save our professional relationship. A discount or something on a future order.
