    The Ductologist
Derek came out to my home and listened patiently as I discussed the issues that I had, as well as some ideas for fixing them. He performed some airflow tests at several of the heat registers to get a sense of how the overall system was working and confirmed the problem with several of the issues. He also noticed some other areas of potential improvements at the basement level. Since my basement is unfinished and a lot of ductwork is accessible, he identified ways to make the airflow/comfort better in the basement as well as fix the other issues throughout the home. Derek answered all of my question ( there were a lot). He was patient and engaged the entire time. Within a short time I received an estimate for the work we agreed on. I was pleasantly surprised with the affordability of the estimate. I gave them the go ahead to do the work. He came out at the scheduled time and quickly got to work. Everything was done to my satisfaction. Derek really is an expert in heating systems. He's also cognizant of what solutions will give the homeowner the biggest benefit for the dollars spent - I really appreciate that. I would recommend The Ductologist to anyone that has a forced air furnace system that has ducting issues. If there's a solution, they will find it!

    Washington Energy Services
First and most important, there was absolutely no high pressure sales.  We knew the house we had purchased needed work to make it more energy efficient and save us money.  We knew the furnace was the original one from when the house was built.  The sales presentation was informative, educational and very helpful in our decision process.  We understood not only what would be done to the house but also what the potential tax consequences might be.  The salesman graciously returned several times to elaborate on certain points when we had questions.  Refreshingly, there was no criticism of other companies or "bashing" of their methods or practices.
We had an another energy audit done by a competing company.  It was not nearly as thorough, extensive or informative.  We received a total of two bids for insulation and three bids for windows from several companies.  Washington Energy Services (WESCO) was not the cheapest but did come very highly recommended.  They offered three choices (levels) of gas furnace and three choices of windows.
Important to us, all work is done by their own employees and not by sub-contractors.  The workers who installed our furnace only install furnaces.  Likewise, the workers who worked on our windows only install windows.  We found each person who represents the company to be polite, respectful and professional.  They made some suggestions before our purchase that saved us money and very much enhanced the appearance of our home.  There is no question they were each eager for us to make good choices and have what we wanted.  It was like having a friend in the business.
The guarantee on the windows is fantastic and is made by WESCO, not by some window factory off somewhere.  If there is a problem, any problem, WESCO will be the one we call and they will be the ones who will fix the issue.
A company scheduler called to make an appointment for each phase of the work.  When they had a cancellation, they moved us to a time period a full week sooner than we had been originally scheduled.  Each crew of workers arrived on time and immediately covered our floors and rugs to protect them from dirt.  When working totally indoors, the workers wore shoe coverings.
I want to make a specific comment about the two men who installed the additional insulation, sealed the air leaks and the heat ducts.  They were particularly careful to not bring dirt into the house despite crawling in the attic and  the crawl space while doing their work.  They made an extra effort to clean the floor coverings they had placed on our floors before removing them.  Remember, most of their work was done out of our immediate sight.  They took care to explain each step of the work and just what the effect on the house would be.
Because we were having all the windows in the house replaced, WESCO sent two complete crews to work at the same time.  This would assure the work was done rapidly and didn't drag on during our cold and damp January.  When working outside, they were careful of the shrubs and plants near the house.
We chose to have all of the windows lined, to have the interiors dressed with wood molding.  In some places this meant a good deal of hand finish work.  The installers did an extremely high quality job of finish carpentry.  Their work compares well with the finest done in any home.
At the end of each job, they completely removed all waste and debris as well as cleaning their work area.  We were given a complete "tour" of the work done, instructions on operating devices and controls like window locks and the programmable thermostat.  We were also given written documentation and instructions as well as a phone number to call if we have any questions or concerns.
The was a good experience and a great choice for us.

    Crawl Pros
Crawl Space Cleaning Pros (CSCP) were awesome. I was very impressed especially the gentleman who worked for the company, I think his name is Joseph. That guy was professional and thorough. We are considering their work to have the work done but we are having multiple projects like having the house painted so we're figuring out how is all that goig to work into the mix. The company is excellent, if that guy represents the company and they are all like him. He has great follow-up and he spent several hours at our house. He is just wonderful. I think they gave me more than what I was expecting.

    Crawl Pros
The whole process went very smoothly. Joe arrived on time and explained what he would be doing. He was professional and informed me each time he needed to move into a different area of our home. He explained where our home was leaking air and improvements that could be made. Later, he provided a free estimate for insulation work.

    Saving Energy Seattle
He was nice and worked very hard. He was very helpful to dealt with and a very nice person. He was concerned. He did not trust the other guy who came through the door, the energy company recommended to people. The first one came and asked for his hire and price deal. He really tried to bring it down for us. He was just sent them backwards. He was good. In fact he even offered to take me to the airport because I was leaving. He was just the sweetest guy. He had confidence and really worked hard. I was really very impressed with him. His name was Fred Yalmeh. We were not happy to spend that much money but it had to be done and better than the other guy that came. I guess the price was good. They had the quote and took photographs. Then two others guys came out and worked for two days. They really did the whole duct. It had a large unit around 1000 square feet. They went through everything. I would highly recommend them.

    Washington Energy Services
The installers, Rick Michaelson and Jacob Gillespie arrived on the scheduled date and time and explained the process to us and what we could expect as far as the time needed for replacing both units and any power outages that may be needed. They were great! They were very efficient and professional during the entire process and even put up with my kibitzing! Once the installation was complete, Will Flink arrived to make sure all duct work was properly and correctly installed and he too went out of his way to explain the process to us. From the beginning, all the individuals involved were very professional and courteous. We highly recommend WES to anyone considering replacing a furnace and/or a water heater and we were very impressed by this crew! As a final note, the difference in heating was noticeable from the moment the furnace was turned on. This was a very positive experience and one that was very worthwhile!

    Crawl Pros
They were prompt in returning phone call to schedule appointment.  Showed up on time, very professional.  He detected a few problem areas and went over list with me regarding improvements.  This particular service is really about weatherproofing your home and noting areas where you can improve the insulation.  Left a "to do" list for me to follow up with, very helpful.

    HomeRx LLC
I received an independent energy audit from a different vendor, and at his suggestion, engaged HomeRx to do the actual insulation work needed. It took a few tries to connect with them, and to schedule an appointment for a walkthrough.

The walkthrough went well, no complaints. But the initial bid was missing some key items that we had discussed. This required an minor amendment to the bid. It took some time to get the job scheduled--something like 3 weeks, with a couple of false starts. I would suggest some slightly better communication on when the work would be starting. Saying, and quot;I think we'll likely start the week after nextand quot; doesn't really cut it. I'd like to get the job scheduled down to the day and if possible, when the workers would show up.

When the work was actually done, I think they did a decent job. Hard to say, as no one ever really walked around with me to discuss how it went or what was done. The workers annoyed some family members by parking in the driveway without asking first.

After the work was completed, the owner called to ask that I pay the foreman for the work. It seemed a little strange. I had planned to pay the day of, but it seemed an odd request.

Overall, I think the work was fine, but the business practice needs a little more polish. Needs better response on returning calls and communication.

    Energy Retrofit
The Energy Retrofit team really went above and beyond for me. They were slated to air seal, weather strip and install latches on several doors and panels in my house. After they began the work, they found an additional air seal issue, where an addition to my kitchen was built up against the siding, leaving gaps running the entire height of my house. They went ahead and caulked it for me even though it was not on the original work order (no charge). I had mentioned in my initial evaluation that I had an old, broken, and extremely heavy TV that I was looking to get rid of and they took it with them when they left. I had also mentioned that I was looking at getting new lighting fixtures in two rooms, and they scheduled an appointment for me with a lighting specialist. I was extremely pleased with the work that was done and their willingness to do more.
