  • I used Cearlock's Custom Painting in California for my old house on 5665 SW daisy Street Reseda, Ca. 91335. We loved him so much that we hired him for this house in Washington State as it was a vacation with work. He loaded up his truck came up for a week work on the house and after we let him vacation in here for a week. A win - win situation.
    Dave was on the spot. He showed up in a timely manor and was very professional with his bid and written estimate. He went over colors and paint coverage as we were asking for a lighter color on the trim.
    He also gave us a few outstanding ideas on what was needed in order to complete the job saving us money in the long run by looking into the future and our uses with the property. Some trellises and trim were added to keep the color scheme consistent.
    The best thing is when Dave was finished it was if as if he was never there... Everything was cleaned up and he did a few extras during the clean up. My wife was ecstatic about the color change and how clean the lines were on the trim.
    We are so happy with the man that generates service, professionalism and speed along with genuine integrity, a trait that seems to be lost in the world of contractors.

  • We were very happy with everything NW Quality Painting did. The initial consult was efficient and helpful. The day of the actual work went very fast. Larry came with two other employees. The work was very clean and high quality. They left no mess and moved all of the furniture back to the correct places. They managed to ventilate the house very well and I hardly noticed a "paint smell" at all. The former owners of the home had left traces of the previous paint color on the ceiling in a number of spots and Larry found the color stored in our garage and covered over those spots. He also offered to take out a carpet-covered board the former owners had installed in one windowsill. We appreciated the military discount we received. Overall, I was extremely happy with the work they did, both in terms of quality and efficiency. Would definitely use them for future services if a need arises.

  • Jeff and his crew did an awesome job. We needed to have then come a day earlier than planned due to the early arrival of our furniture and they were extremely accommodating. Once here they went immediately to work and with the exception of a couple of small touch-ups had a job scheduled for 2 full days done in one. Any professional painting needs we have in future we will definitely use this company again.

  • The contractor and staff was courteous at all times, prompt to respond and prompt with an estimate, scheduled the work to my convenience, and his crew worked efficiently.  The estimate was competitive and seemed fair for the work done.  The drywall corrections in the bathroom were done expertly and took care of that problem.  The outside work was also done efficiently and the overall appearance was a remarkable improvement. 

    I'm knocking off a bit for the quality because it was discussed and I had assumed that on the ceiling, in a couple of corners, nail heads had rusted and pushed out the drywall, and I thought those had been sealed off so that rust would not bleed back through as it has before.  Now, a year later, that problem, though minor, is reappearing.  Maybe there's no easy fix for that. Additionally, on the deck, one stretch of one deck board about two feet long was missed altogether, which I did not notice until much later and took care of myself in about three minutes. 

    On the plus side, the contractor came back out to touch up a couple of spots on the ceiling that were missed, something he took care of on the same day I called.  Overall, a very positive experience.

  • I am disappointed to have to write a negative review about any company, but I am not
    happy with the work done by Honey Do Helpers. First, the coupon deal offered by
    Angie?s List is no bargain. The coupon I purchased was $299 for 8 man hours OR
    4 two man hours. They normally charge $55/hour for one man, or $60/two man
    hour. For 8 man hours, you would be paying 37.36/hour, with the coupon.  You actually end up paying $74.75/hour if, as
    Tony provided, you get two men for 4 hours.
    I thought that I would be getting Tony for eight hours,  but ?bait and switch? two very slow working
    and unknowledgeable workers showed up to honor the coupon, for four hours.
    Numerous mistakes were made. The glaring ones that I pointed out were ?fixed?
    at ?no charge?, but overall, they did a very unprofessional job, showing poor skills
    and knowledge.
    Where to start? First, using the coupon, I asked Tony to finish framing an interior
    bathroom wall. I was expanding a basement bathroom by two feet in order to make
    a handicap accessible doorway. A professional carpenter had built the structure
    of the new walls, the doorway framing and temporarily hung the new door.  I wanted Honey Do Helpers to put in the studs to
    prepare the walls for the sheet rocking, which my Grandson was going to do.
    I?ve had Tony do a little bit of work before and trusted him. He dropped off his workers
    and it was obvious they had little experience or knowledge. One was basically
    the helper and the other tried to figure out how to follow Tony?s instructions.
    Tony left them on their own.  Veeery Slooooow?
     The two ?boys? were unable to complete what
    I needed in 4 hours, and it cost me an extra $156.00.
    My Grandson was busy with his professional sheet rocking job, so I decided to go ahead and
    let Honey Do Helpers do the sheetrock, including covering the open ceiling.  When they were finished, one corner of a
    small closet area was obviously not at a 45degree angle. Where the new wall
    extension met the old sheetrock surface, the wall was off the thickness of the
    old sheetrock. And the ceiling was still open. These were obvious things that I
    pointed out.  Also, the door stuck and
    did not shut properly. The workers seemed to think there was nothing wrong with
    doing this kind of job. They told me there were ?challenges? and it was ?hard?.
     I pointed these things out to Tony, who said
    they would fix it them.
    The texturing and painting needed to be done, including a separate 12 foot wall that had been
    sheet rocked only, and they assured me they could do a good job of it. One
    lesson learned; do not let someone work by the hour! Forty-two hours total and
    I paid him $2650.37 for an unacceptable job.
    My Grandson, a professional sheet rocker, looked at the job and immediately pointed out how poorly
    it had been done. Openings around outlets were cut too big for the plates to
    cover, tapes and seams show through, corners weren?t trimmed out with standard
    metal edging, wall joints have wows or humps in them, texture doesn?t match and
    is uneven, etc. I already had pointed out that the bathroom door still does not
    shut, and ?Tony? is supposed to fix that, (although I have no confidence that
    it will be done correctly).  
    Also, I had to ASK the guys to clean the floor of paint and plaster drips before they left.
    They smeared it around on the painted floor (not cleaned), and the carpet is heavily
    speckled with paint and plaster spots. There is overspray on adjoining walls
    and dust and spattered paint over stored antiques.  My Grandson?s comment was, ?I would be fired
    if I did work like this?.
    I asked my Grandson how long it would take for a professional to make the walls right. He
    said, ?A minimum of ten hours, probably a lot more. Not to mention cleaning the
    floors, dust, and overspray.?
    At this point, I need to hire someone to go back and fix their mistakes and redo it to
    make it right. If Tony offered to make it right, I do not feel that they would
    do the professional job that I expected to begin with. I want to honor the fact
    that he did put time and some materials into the job. Since I now have to hire
    someone to redo the work, I am asking for a refund of half of what he charged
    me, which would be $1325.
    Also, beware
    that he charges $60 (his per hour rate for 2 men) to pick up supplies.  I was charged 4 hours of time for materials

  • I was told at the time of estimate that they would send 3 guys to do the job and that it would take 3 days to complete. Two guys came, one of whom spoke no Englsh, so I could not tell what they were talking about. When I called the employer he said he could not afford to send 3 people with the bid he gave me. I never asked for a lowball bid, and just expected them to do what they contracted for. They did a good job on the walls as far as I can tell, but the cabinets were awful. They said they did four coats, yet you can still see the previous wood color in places where the cabinet door frames met the middle. They did not paint the bottom of one of the upper cabinets. They did not paint some of the doors. They decided to use a different (high gloss) paint on the cabinets, which I agreed to, but this paint is neither high gloss or smooth.
    I was told that the workers would be at my house everyday at 8 am and leave promptly at 6 pm so that we would have a chance to relax in the evening. They came as late as 10 am, as early as 6 am, and as late as 9:30 at night. When I asked them how much longer they would be, they would say "about an hour" was never less than 2 hours. When I told them they needed to go home, they said "we're just cleaning up", and would continue no matter what I said. The supervisor was attentive when I would point out things they hadn't done, etc., but listening is not the same as doing. In addition he kept asking me did I want to paint this closet or that, as if the contract did not stipulate that they needed to paint the whole house, including walls, ceilings, doors, trim. I always felt that they were implying that the laundry closet (or whatever) wasn't really important and that I was being unreasonable. Some of the doors were shut while still wet, and so when I tried to use them I could not, and had to get my roommate to force them.
    I emailed the owner about some of these problems and asked what we could do to remedy these problems on Tuesday, but now it's late Thursday afternoon, and have heard nothing from them.
    I hired this company thinking the were another Sunrise contractors on Angies list with all A's. I would never hire them again.

  • Prior to moving into our new 1800 sq foot home we had it painted by this vendor. We were on an urgent time frame as we were living in a hotel. They provided us an estimate in a hurry and addressed our issues with some wall repairs and taking down wallpaper. They arrived on schedule and ready to paint. While there were some challenges with illness and availability of their crew, they maintained the schedule they committed to. They were EXTREMELY knowledgeable about dealing with the wallpaper removal which went far better than was possible. The key to any painting job is prep and they had this down cold. As a result we were able to move in to a freshly pained house with our chosen color scheme. The quality of the job - the cut-ins and edging, were excellent. They even accommodated a room where we were storing some boxes and bags, moving them from side to side to finish that room even though it was somewhat occupied. I could not recommend them highly enough, and will be using them for exterior painting later this year.
