Great! They came when scheduled, did the work as expected, cleaned up the mess, hauled away the debris, were polite and personable. The chimney looks good, and we're happy with the work that was done.

His price was the same as other bids, he knew where to get matching brick though ours is pretty old, and he was a pleasure to work with. We'd have chosen him without taking more bids except that he wasn't available for 2-3 weeks. We had done lots of prep work for a scheduled mason that hadn't shown up at all, and had plants pulled out and waiting to go back in the ground when it was hot and dry, so we needed someone right away. I'd definitely call him again when we aren't in such a hurry.

I scheduled my appointment 2 months in advance and they never showed up to do the work. We had to do a lot of prep work before the appointment to be ready for them to complete the work. We had to dig up plants move things around and also had to hire people to get the prep work done. They wanted us to move dirt around in the flower beds where they were going to be doing the masonry work. I called 10 days ahead of the scheduled date to confirm the appointment. It was confirmed by the office staff. On the day of the appointment when they hadn't shown up by 10/11 A.M. the secretary didn't even have me on the schedule. She stated they would not be doing the work due to loosing their head mason. I had also scheduled painting to be done after the masonry work was completed and due to the missed appointment and cancellation of the job that had to be put off. I had to find another masonry company to come complete the work.

He is phenomenal. He is just over the top. What stood out to me was his quality of work. He was punctual, very informative, and went the extra mile on everything. He was just great on every count. I would use his services again in the future in a heartbeat.

Jeff was hard to nail down on a start date partly because of a miscommunication but was VERY professional in all of our dealings. I was nervous about not having a written contract before starting but he did as promised and more. He was one of the best contractors I've used over the years!

    Northwest Hearth & Home
Northwest Hearth and Home recently installed a gas insert in our home. We have an odd fireplace that didn't quite work with most gas inserts and we were told by other fireplace stores that what we wanted couldn't be done. On a whim, we decided to stop into Northwest Hearth and Home and have a look at their options. We are so pleased that we did! After speaking with the sales staff and describing our situation, it was determined that it would be best to have their installation expert come to our house to perform an on-site consultation. They said there was a $125 charge for this service, but that it would apply to our purchase price. At first, we were concerned by the risk that nothing would work, but they seemed so knowledgeable and helpful that we decided to go ahead with it - and we are so glad we did!
Their expert (and owner, I think), Dave, arrived at our home the following Saturday morning and looked at our fireplace. He was not at all deterred by the unusual fireplace and said that he could have a custom surround made to fit within the opening. We explained to him that we have a set budget that we did not want to exceed and that we were concerned that customizing it would cost too much - we are those with champagne taste on a beer budget. He said he would look into the options and get back with us.
True to his word, he contacted us and told us that he might have a solution for us. Rather than a custom surround provided by the manufacturer, he offered a less expensive alternative that involved additional work on his part so that the surround would be the proper fit.
In addition, he said that they wanted to do everything they could to accommodate our budget, and offered to upgrade us at no charge to the deluxe model that came with a snazzy remote control (as this was a feature we really wanted, but it would make us go over budget).
When the time came to install the insert, the crew arrived just when they said they would and worked very efficiently and cleanly. The custom panels that Dave had made were the perfect size for our fireplace and we are so pleased with how they look - even better than we imagined.
We are so glad that we didn't listen to the other fireplace stores and their dismissive comments that we were out of luck (probably because they didn't have the product, knowledge or experience) and decided to try Northwest Hearth and Home.
Our experience with Northwest Hearth and Home was quite a pleasant one and we would gladly recommend them to others. From our initial visit to their showroom to final installation, we found them to be not only professional, but very friendly and accommodating to our needs and requests. They clearly have a lot of experience and are willing to think outside the box to help meet the needs/desires of their customers.
    Thank you.

They gave me an estimate of $21000 for the job. I had them come out for the estimate because they were listed on Angie's List. They were very friendly and very responsive. They really sounded very good. The decision not to use them for the work was purely based on cost. They were very responsive. They did work for the guy across the street and it looks great from here.

John promptly responded back. I had found him through his website. He listened to my ideas and suggested things that would make the final outcome better. Later, he came back with stone samples and let us chose the exact color of stone.

He started the job just when he said he would. Showed up on time each day. John was very pleasant to have around - a nice guy. It was enjoyable to chat with him.

When he was working, it became clear right away that he really knows his stuff. He has much masonry experience and it show in the craftsmanship of his work. He used top-quality materials like you would see on the best commercial jobs.

Yes, his price was higher than other contractors. But he pretty much gave us exactly what we were hoping for.

Everyone who comes by our yard comments on the seating wall. It has been in place for more than a year and has shown no signs of cracking. We enjoy the final product very much.

    Thanks John!

I think that he is out of this world. I did not get another bid and I decided to use them was because I used him before and he is beyond compare. If anyone wants a job to be done working with stone, then he is the one to use. I would tell other members that any he is one that knows how to place his stones in an artistic manner. I would tell others about shim working with stone work and masonry.
