  • AMAZINGLY PERFECT AND ABOVE AND BEYOND EXPECTATIONS. Many places do not want small jobs and the ones that did, wanted a ridiculous amount of money. I was pleasantly greeted when I entered their office (by the way, their location is very convenient). I needed ODD sized side splashes that could not even be found online and like I said, his local competitors' rates were extremely high. Matt did exactly what was needed and did so in less than 10 days which I thought was amazing. The side splashes he did could not have been better. I would post a pic but the splashes we desperately needed are white and so is the wall so you really cant tell how odd the size is but they are polished beautifully, I believe they are marble.

  • Vanderlip Construction was a breath of fresh air. The project was on time, on budget and Eric was very easy to work with. The level of communication was outstanding. If he was going to be even a few minutes late I would get a text or a phone call. I knew what was happening at all times. Eric helped us remodel our bathroom and did our floor and shower tile work with such precision that even my wife couldn't find flaws with it. His input on some of our design decisions was invaluable and we are pretty sure he kept us from making some mistakes that we would regret. he also worked with us on some of the harder design elements to make them perfect. At the end of each day, the site was clean and put together and while working, his respect for the rest of the house in terms of keeping it protected and clean also was admirable. i can't stress enough though that the work was quality. Eric was VERY meticulous and very concerned that every line in the project was perfect, despite non-plumb walls and that every tile was at the right height. I am a handy guy myself and I hesitated to hire someone for work I felt I could do myself but I was very busy. Now, I know there is no way I could have done what he did. I gave him all "A" ratings and I meant them. I am happy to discuss Vanderlip Construction with you if you are considering them for work in your project.

  • We hired Eric to do a fairly extensive kitchen, dining room and living room remodel. Right from the get-go he was quick to communicate with us and thoroughly explained our options through the entire process. He is a very detail-oriented person and always tidied up at the end of the day. We did have a bump or two along the way, (what project doesn't?) but he was fast to help us quickly and fairly remedy the issues. He was very accommodating to our needs and got the project done on time. We are very happy with the end results and our vision was realized. We hope to have him back for a couple of bathroom remodels!

  • I wholeheartedly recommend Josh Schultz and his crew for home improvement projects. Josh was so easy to work with, communicated with me often, gave me great ideas to improve my new kitchen, and was flexible when the schedule didn’t work quite as planned. The quality of his work was outstanding, he responded to my queries quickly, and was just a fun person with whom to collaborate. I can’t say enough in his praise.

  • This is a 12 year old home that has had a shower leak for a long time. A new type of sealer for the shower pan was used and didn't work. Being that water goes down, we didn't realize there was a problem. 12 years later we did! Insurance / Safeco was called and sent a claims manager to view damage. They didn't cover damage as it had been going on too long. Was given a list of folks to call. Their bids were all over the place. So I Checked on Angie's List. My wife started calling contractors and everyone was busy. We liked the reviews on Cascade Valley Construction, and so she called Thomas. To Busy! Well she kept calling him and offered to bake him a blackberry Pie. That was too much to resist and he came to our home. Thomas went under the house pulling insulation as he accessed the damage. It was bad. He took a video of the damage and we were shocked. All of the support beams and sills were rotten and that side of the house was sinking. Thomas asked a $1000.00 to start and tore into the Bathroom and part of the bedroom. We moved upstairs as the smell and black mold was bad. As I said He was very busy and took a month to get his crew in to repair damage. The out side wall had to be removed, the floor removed and sills and beams replaced. New flooring, Plywood treated, not OSB. second story had to be braced and leveled. New out side wall was built and siding put on. Belly board was something called white board and starting to rot. so Thomas used cement board as a replacement. Now the time had arrived to put inside walls up and a new shower. Thomas put the shower together correctly using a very thick shower pan and used cement board instead of plaster board that was used originally. He then put a red sealer on the floor and walls. Thomas smiled and said this time it won't leak, We now have a handicap accessible shower and a heated tile floor! Thomas was very good at explaining what he was doing step by step and his crew was great They were here to work when they said they would be and stuck with the job until our work was done We now know why He is so busy.

  • Remodeling is never fun but Tom and his crew made it as easy as possible. He is fair, he communicates and does good work. They removed and replaced walls and flooring, added a window and built a lovely new bath. Super pleased with the quality of the work.

  • I was slowly losing all faith in contractors and people in the remodeling/construction business...until I found Jim! We hired him to install new laminate flooring in our basement that spanned about about 900 sqft give or take. This included the flooring for one bathroom. We also had him install new doors and baseboards throughout the lower level of our home. Out of all the bids I got Jim’s was the most affordable and reasonable. It’s insane how much some people charge for labor these days... Anyways my project was a pretty big one for one person, but Jim was able to complete by my personal deadline and do so with great quality of work. Several issues popped up with leveling the cement floor and cutting all the corners right for the baseboards, but nothing discouraged Jim. And although it took him a little longer to complete than planned he stuck to his original bid and only charged extra to cover extra supplies. He was always honest about his progress and his ability to get things done. He is willing to work on weekends if needed too. Jim even helped my husband and I with a couple of other things whenever he was around. Also another nice thing about Jim is that he just does things that need to be done without asking...such as caulking trim and baseboards. You wouldn’t believe how much extra, painters or installers will charge for that now! I really appreciated how I didn’t need to direct Jim on every little detail. I’m guessing his knowledge and experience help him out with that. Jim made our basement area beautiful and I’m so thankful I found him! I’ll definitely be using him again for other projects around my home. He was a man of his word as far as getting everything done to the way I wanted it. He even called me again to make sure I was happy after the fact before he sent me my bill. And yes he really doesn’t require any payment until the project is done and you are satisfied. Thank you Jim for all your hard work!

  • He was patient when I made changes and made sure the job was done to my satisfaction. He accommodated my erratic schedule and was extremely flexible and worked overtime. I highly recommend him and plan to have him do some more work for me. He guided me working with the other subs as well. I felt the quality of the work done was above average and extremely reasonable! He is a "good egg"
  • Excellent. I think this is my second time ever writing a review, but felt it important given the relationship we built with Thomas and Cascade Valley Construction. Thomas was extraordinarily dedicated to our project. He is of course a competent and capable general contractor, that was expected. What set him apart from anyone I have worked with in this field was his respect and consideration for my family - he is a true gentleman and treated my family as one; his attention to detail and ensuring things are done the correct way - if they aren't he will have it redone; and that he is a man of his word on big things and small. Of course this is how he makes a living, but Thomas seems to be doing this job for love of the work, and I always felt that our project getting done beyond my family's expectations was his number one priority, more so than his personal bottom line. If I need any work done on this house, Thomas is who I will call, no question. He has earned my loyalty.

  • Initially it went well, but over time, communication became non-existent. Doors were left unlocked, lights were left off that needed to be on in the unoccupied home, and once there was water left running in the bathtub where grouting tools were being cleaned. The job site was always a pigsty and garbage and construction debris were left behind when they were done. When we finally voiced our displeasure, the owner called up and acted unprofessionally. He blamed us for any timeliness issues (some of which were ours due to the death of a member of our household). I'd say we caused 2 weeks worth of delay with changes as the job progressed, and the counter/cabinet guys added more time, but the contractor delayed contacting them with issues that they were aware of well before the job started. The owner told us he wished he had never taken the job, further explaining that our home had a number of other issues and that it was a piece of ****. He eventually apologized by email, after our realtor spoke to him, but had already threatened that he would sue us if we didn't pay him, which was never something we had said or intended. When they finally finished the job, we paid him in full and asked him not to return. We then discovered a number of issues: poor completion of tile work that had to be trimmed out; trimming out the cabinets where they didn't reach the edge of the wood flooring; painting the backs of doors (bedroom and bathroom, not just closets); and a number of other painfully obvious details. We had to repair cabinet doors in both bathrooms because of scratches in the doors, likely from the counter guys. When we brought it up, the contractor blamed it on years of abuse by a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the scratches weren't there prior to the job starting and there hadn't been a wheelchair in the house for at least 7 years, which was how long I owned it. Our issue was if the contractor had been there when the sub was doing their work, which they had said they would be, the issue could have been addressed at the time. Overall, it was a miserable experience. I understand that others have not had the same issues with them, but our experience was more stressful than having done it ourselves and likely would've taken the same amount of time.
