I was recently moved into the Kaiser Permanente health organization from my previous HMO. I went to my first appointment just the other day and was very satisfied. The organization that I was moved from was one of the best in the state, so one can imagine the standards I had. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

It is a cooperative and all the services are rolled into one. It has been in existence since 1947. It is probably the largest healthcare cooperative in the United States. I am in there at least four times a year for glaucoma care. I use physical therapy six or seven times earlier this year for arthritis problems. I had my annual physical with Dr Conrad in early May or June so I use them all the time. The price is excellent. They take care of all the billing and administration.

It is a HMO. They have been our insurer for over 40 years. They protect our health. Both my wife and I have had numerous health issues and they have come through. They are an excellent health care. We use them every day.

She's got really good bedside manner. Her staff is very friendly and helpful. The front desk people are nice and they're pretty good about getting you in for appointments. I think I waited maybe 20 minutes. I think it's fair. I don't ever feel like I've waited outside the norm or anything. Her nurses are very good. The office staff is nice. They have a lab right in their office so if you have any lab work that needs to be done, it's right there so it's handy. She also does the whole email communication thing. I never had trouble getting in. Her bedside manner is excellent. Her communication is excellent. I haven't had a problem with the billing.

They brought my daughter (4 yrs old) straight back to an observation room for treatment. I felt they treated her condition with the speed necessary for her exposure to peanuts as she has a severe nut allergy. We had already administered an EpiPen Jr, as well as two puffs of her inhaler prior to arrival at the hospital. Their care and treatment of my daughter left me with the feeling that she was in good hands. Thankfully my daughter is ok.

Mostly, Regence has been very good, but I've had my usual problems with an insurance company wanting (insisting!) on changing my medication regimen to suit their approved list. Unfortunately, I've relocated twice in the last two years, so my medical records don't have much history of how the current regimen came to be. I rec'd communications from the insurance company insisting that I change the tumor-necrosis-factor antagonist that was working very well to keep me mobile (I'd been on 3 different ones previously to find the best one), and also to change my anti-hypertensives to add a beta blocker--which I react badly to and which doesn't work on me. As a result, I had to impose on my new doctor to go to bat for me since the insurance company required documentation from an MD. For some reason, they weren't amenable to asking the doctor who had been my PCP for 15 years prior to the previous 2 years. When relocating to a new state, this is the last thing I needed to deal with, but I spent the hours required because I need my medications.

ER did an excellent job but ICU was a totally different story. The ER staff was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very informative. While in ICU the patient went into diabetic coma (blood sugar dropped to six) due to lack of proper monitoring. Also, good luck trying to talk to a staff doctor in order to find out what was happening with patient. We were asked via telephone to come to the hospital to talk with doctor, hours later we never got to talk with him.

We have used them for 20 years and I love them. I am really pleased. They really have their appointment business down for where appointments with primary care physicians, you can get into within two weeks. It is a great improvement to what they used to be like. We appreciate that.

After being admitted in the ER and the admitting person finding out that I had endured a biopsy a few days prior he got on the phone and got a nurse to see me very quickly so they do start on tests immediately.
I was treated professionaly and they were all very caring, I was made as comfortable as they could make me, I was in severe pain so the morphine they gave helped. I ended up having to get wheeled down to x-ray and again, treated with kindness by the person on duty.
After finding no tears of bleeding, but finding the biopsy area had been traumatized, they prescribed rest and some pain killers. I was so glad that they did not just treat me like my problem was nothing, because to me it was awful. I have a very high pain tolerance so it was welcome relief to go home and be able to sleep for several hours.
I had heard St. Peter's had top notch doctors, and I would agree, the people I came in contact to from the front desk to the nurses and especially the IV nurse, to the Doc on duty, thank you for helping me.

While trimming trees in my yard, I managed to scratch my eyeball with a branch. I called the nurse hotline and they gave me a list of things to watch out for but said that if none of them occurred, I was in the clear. The next morning I woke up with my eye crusted shut (this was, of course, one of the things), so I headed into the Urgent Care clinic. Within 5 minutes of arrival, I was sitting before a nurse, who took my vitals and sent me up to the office of my PCP. They put some dye in my eye to check for corneal scratches, gave me a prescription for an antibiotic (which only took about 5 minutes to pick up in the pharmacy) and sent me on my way.
