Door Installation reviews in Olympia

Zack and crew were efficient and cleaned up very well afterwards. We appreciated the detailed explanations of what needed to be done, how long it would take and the cost. Coordinating dates and times worked very well. We had to make changes in what we requested and Zack was very accommodating. Excellent timely results. Will request service in the future.

This is a 12 year old home that has had a shower leak for a long time. A new type of sealer for the shower pan was used and didn't work. Being that water goes down, we didn't realize there was a problem. 12 years later we did! Insurance / Safeco was called and sent a claims manager to view damage. They didn't cover damage as it had been going on too long. Was given a list of folks to call. Their bids were all over the place. So I Checked on Angie's List. My wife started calling contractors and everyone was busy. We liked the reviews on Cascade Valley Construction, and so she called Thomas. To Busy! Well she kept calling him and offered to bake him a blackberry Pie. That was too much to resist and he came to our home. Thomas went under the house pulling insulation as he accessed the damage. It was bad. He took a video of the damage and we were shocked. All of the support beams and sills were rotten and that side of the house was sinking. Thomas asked a $1000.00 to start and tore into the Bathroom and part of the bedroom. We moved upstairs as the smell and black mold was bad. As I said He was very busy and took a month to get his crew in to repair damage. The out side wall had to be removed, the floor removed and sills and beams replaced. New flooring, Plywood treated, not OSB. second story had to be braced and leveled. New out side wall was built and siding put on. Belly board was something called white board and starting to rot. so Thomas used cement board as a replacement. Now the time had arrived to put inside walls up and a new shower. Thomas put the shower together correctly using a very thick shower pan and used cement board instead of plaster board that was used originally. He then put a red sealer on the floor and walls. Thomas smiled and said this time it won't leak, We now have a handicap accessible shower and a heated tile floor! Thomas was very good at explaining what he was doing step by step and his crew was great They were here to work when they said they would be and stuck with the job until our work was done We now know why He is so busy.

Zack and his team did an excellent job. They were attentive and personable, making creative suggestions as they moved through the job. They uncovered areas of prior construction they were not done right and made corrections (i.e. pouring new footing at base of wall). We were also happy with coordination of stone mason work and selection of doors.

I used these guys twice for separate orders (upper level and lower level of home). First time around my contractor managed a lot of it for me so I didn’t know all the details about my order. No problems occurred that I was aware of. For my second order I chose to go with a more affordable contractor to install the doors since I didn’t need as much work done on the lower level of my home. Therefore I managed ordering the doors and trim by myself and that’s where things go downhill. Their products are pretty good and priced competitively, but their labor pricing is ridiculous. Didn’t have a problem with ordering or delivery since I pretty much just needed the same things that I had on the upper level. However when we go to install the doors we realize that it’s not completely “finished” as I thought it would be for being prepainted and ready to install. I email letting them know about this and Cindy tells me that yes it could’ve been ordered that way and she was sorry it wasn’t offered. I ask if someone can come out to fix them since I thought I was getting doors that didn’t require anymore work. My request was forwarded to Eric and he calls me to tell me it will be $90/hr to come do and should take 5-6 hours. I ask why is it so expensive since their initial install rate was $65/hr. I’m told it just depends on the skill level of the guy coming out....then I ask how much extra it would have been to order the correct door. Only about $7 per door according to him. I express my disappointed and how I wish someone would have been more clear about my options and he only responded with that’s just the way it is. No apology for causing an issue for me and no attempt to rectify the situation. Told him I wasn’t willing to pay that much for his service and that was basically the end of that. They also cut a pocket door incorrectly and now I have to find hardware that will cover their screw up. Just goes to show that some people could care less about their customers once the job is done and they are paid. Won’t be buying from them ever again.

Tim was timely in his responses to me as well as on time to perform the work. He moved the front door knob to another door and replaced front one with a less worn knob. That was appreciated He also gave me tips on why it was a good idea to change the locks.

Our new windows look great ! Special thanks to Renewal's crew Lincoln and Osvalde for their professional work and friendly nature. Their tireless work went above and beyond installing 13 windows, 1 gliding door, all within 3 days. Thank you Renewal for a great job.

Kell-Chuck glass replaced our old windows, installed some new ones and provided new windows and a door that we would install ourselves. The installation went nearly perfectly and when a small issue arose Kell-Chuck happily dealt with it — without any intervention on our part. The team that did the installation was very efficient and seem to clearly enjoy each other and the work they were doing; it took only half a day to install 9 windows. We are confident that they would do very good work in the future should we need their services again and if anybody were to ask us what company we would recommend we would give them Kell-Chuck’s name without reservation.

There was never any question about choosing Andersen windows for this project since we had replaced the windows and several sliders with them in a previous home in 1989. We contacted Renewal by Andersen of Seattle and scheduled a consultation. Our Design Consultant, Curt T., was knowledgeable, thorough and completely professional. Over the past forty years we’ve dealt with several home improvement contractors. What I appreciate about the best of these has been a stellar reputation, excellent communication from start to finish, and company integrity. I also like to see a company which values its employees, and employees who are positive about their company. I like to see employees who enjoy their work and take pride in individual workmanship. I am impressed when I see a “Do it once and do it right” attitude. I expect to be informed if any “issues” arise, since they almost always do. I like to sense a commitment to excellence by everyone I deal with, on the phone or in person. Value is always found in the details. I like to see a respect for both my time and property. They say that success is making the right choice. Choosing Renewal by Andersen was definitely the right choice for us. Our initial lofty expectations were exceeded. Special thanks to our installers, Ryan M. (lead), and to Zack C. for their cheerful demeanors, their craftsmanship and attention to detail. Much appreciated!

Initially it went well, but over time, communication became non-existent. Doors were left unlocked, lights were left off that needed to be on in the unoccupied home, and once there was water left running in the bathtub where grouting tools were being cleaned. The job site was always a pigsty and garbage and construction debris were left behind when they were done. When we finally voiced our displeasure, the owner called up and acted unprofessionally. He blamed us for any timeliness issues (some of which were ours due to the death of a member of our household). I'd say we caused 2 weeks worth of delay with changes as the job progressed, and the counter/cabinet guys added more time, but the contractor delayed contacting them with issues that they were aware of well before the job started. The owner told us he wished he had never taken the job, further explaining that our home had a number of other issues and that it was a piece of ****. He eventually apologized by email, after our realtor spoke to him, but had already threatened that he would sue us if we didn't pay him, which was never something we had said or intended. When they finally finished the job, we paid him in full and asked him not to return. We then discovered a number of issues: poor completion of tile work that had to be trimmed out; trimming out the cabinets where they didn't reach the edge of the wood flooring; painting the backs of doors (bedroom and bathroom, not just closets); and a number of other painfully obvious details. We had to repair cabinet doors in both bathrooms because of scratches in the doors, likely from the counter guys. When we brought it up, the contractor blamed it on years of abuse by a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the scratches weren't there prior to the job starting and there hadn't been a wheelchair in the house for at least 7 years, which was how long I owned it. Our issue was if the contractor had been there when the sub was doing their work, which they had said they would be, the issue could have been addressed at the time. Overall, it was a miserable experience. I understand that others have not had the same issues with them, but our experience was more stressful than having done it ourselves and likely would've taken the same amount of time.

He was on time; started on the door removal and installation. Very personable and knowledgeable. The pre manufactured door had some of the hardware placed in backward. He contacted the manufacturer; received instruction on how to correct. He was done in 4 hours, the time he estimated.
