  • Vanderlip Construction was a breath of fresh air. The project was on time, on budget and Eric was very easy to work with. The level of communication was outstanding. If he was going to be even a few minutes late I would get a text or a phone call. I knew what was happening at all times. Eric helped us remodel our bathroom and did our floor and shower tile work with such precision that even my wife couldn't find flaws with it. His input on some of our design decisions was invaluable and we are pretty sure he kept us from making some mistakes that we would regret. he also worked with us on some of the harder design elements to make them perfect. At the end of each day, the site was clean and put together and while working, his respect for the rest of the house in terms of keeping it protected and clean also was admirable. i can't stress enough though that the work was quality. Eric was VERY meticulous and very concerned that every line in the project was perfect, despite non-plumb walls and that every tile was at the right height. I am a handy guy myself and I hesitated to hire someone for work I felt I could do myself but I was very busy. Now, I know there is no way I could have done what he did. I gave him all "A" ratings and I meant them. I am happy to discuss Vanderlip Construction with you if you are considering them for work in your project.

  • I wholeheartedly recommend Josh Schultz and his crew for home improvement projects. Josh was so easy to work with, communicated with me often, gave me great ideas to improve my new kitchen, and was flexible when the schedule didn’t work quite as planned. The quality of his work was outstanding, he responded to my queries quickly, and was just a fun person with whom to collaborate. I can’t say enough in his praise.

  • This is a 12 year old home that has had a shower leak for a long time. A new type of sealer for the shower pan was used and didn't work. Being that water goes down, we didn't realize there was a problem. 12 years later we did! Insurance / Safeco was called and sent a claims manager to view damage. They didn't cover damage as it had been going on too long. Was given a list of folks to call. Their bids were all over the place. So I Checked on Angie's List. My wife started calling contractors and everyone was busy. We liked the reviews on Cascade Valley Construction, and so she called Thomas. To Busy! Well she kept calling him and offered to bake him a blackberry Pie. That was too much to resist and he came to our home. Thomas went under the house pulling insulation as he accessed the damage. It was bad. He took a video of the damage and we were shocked. All of the support beams and sills were rotten and that side of the house was sinking. Thomas asked a $1000.00 to start and tore into the Bathroom and part of the bedroom. We moved upstairs as the smell and black mold was bad. As I said He was very busy and took a month to get his crew in to repair damage. The out side wall had to be removed, the floor removed and sills and beams replaced. New flooring, Plywood treated, not OSB. second story had to be braced and leveled. New out side wall was built and siding put on. Belly board was something called white board and starting to rot. so Thomas used cement board as a replacement. Now the time had arrived to put inside walls up and a new shower. Thomas put the shower together correctly using a very thick shower pan and used cement board instead of plaster board that was used originally. He then put a red sealer on the floor and walls. Thomas smiled and said this time it won't leak, We now have a handicap accessible shower and a heated tile floor! Thomas was very good at explaining what he was doing step by step and his crew was great They were here to work when they said they would be and stuck with the job until our work was done We now know why He is so busy.

  • Remodeling is never fun but Tom and his crew made it as easy as possible. He is fair, he communicates and does good work. They removed and replaced walls and flooring, added a window and built a lovely new bath. Super pleased with the quality of the work.

  • Initially it went well, but over time, communication became non-existent. Doors were left unlocked, lights were left off that needed to be on in the unoccupied home, and once there was water left running in the bathtub where grouting tools were being cleaned. The job site was always a pigsty and garbage and construction debris were left behind when they were done. When we finally voiced our displeasure, the owner called up and acted unprofessionally. He blamed us for any timeliness issues (some of which were ours due to the death of a member of our household). I'd say we caused 2 weeks worth of delay with changes as the job progressed, and the counter/cabinet guys added more time, but the contractor delayed contacting them with issues that they were aware of well before the job started. The owner told us he wished he had never taken the job, further explaining that our home had a number of other issues and that it was a piece of ****. He eventually apologized by email, after our realtor spoke to him, but had already threatened that he would sue us if we didn't pay him, which was never something we had said or intended. When they finally finished the job, we paid him in full and asked him not to return. We then discovered a number of issues: poor completion of tile work that had to be trimmed out; trimming out the cabinets where they didn't reach the edge of the wood flooring; painting the backs of doors (bedroom and bathroom, not just closets); and a number of other painfully obvious details. We had to repair cabinet doors in both bathrooms because of scratches in the doors, likely from the counter guys. When we brought it up, the contractor blamed it on years of abuse by a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the scratches weren't there prior to the job starting and there hadn't been a wheelchair in the house for at least 7 years, which was how long I owned it. Our issue was if the contractor had been there when the sub was doing their work, which they had said they would be, the issue could have been addressed at the time. Overall, it was a miserable experience. I understand that others have not had the same issues with them, but our experience was more stressful than having done it ourselves and likely would've taken the same amount of time.

  • We have contracted with Garcia Construction, LLC. multiple times for our personal home and rental properties. Originally, we had major water damage in our basement to an exterior wall, resulting from an error made from a previous contractor. After contacting several other contractors first, Garcia Construction was the first to actual respond to schedule an appointment. Garcia Construction (Jose) arrived at the scheduled time, was very friendly, and very professional. As Jose was looking at the damage, he actually diagnosed the real problem causing the water damage. (A cracked pipe in the wall was thought to be the original problem). Thankfully, we had procrastinated and did not have the original contractor repair the damages – as the real problem would not have been found. Garcia’s estimate was reasonable so we contacted him to sign the bid. The job was finished and all repairs were completed within the agreed time-frame, and within budget (even after Jose agreed to complete other repairs outside of the original estimate). We were very happy and surprised how clean the repair site was kept during restoration – and that the debris was removed from the premise, daily. Because we were pleased with the repair of our basement, we again contracted with Garcia Construction to do an emergency remodel on our rental property. The signed contract(s) were for replacing the roof, all windows, interior and exterior doors, and repairs to the tile counters and shower throughout, and new exterior paint. This emergency remodel was during the late summer months which is and was a very busy time for most contractors. Jose and his assistants worked evenings and weekends to complete the remodel on-time. They also assisted us with non-contracted repairs, knowing we were in a time crunch and had tenants scheduled to move in. We have continued contracting with Garcia Construction for other property repairs and small remodel projects.

  • His bid was on par with Great Floors but I picked him in an effort to build a relationship with an small business / independent contractor instead of a big box store. He took 1 month, was never on time, blamed his inefficiencies on his personal problems, and didn't complete the job. He left doors and jambs in the hallways, piles and piles of trash all over house and yard, and angrily informed me - weeks after I accepted his bid of course - that the "dump fee" was $300 and not included. He also cut tile *inside* of the house while I was away so I came home to find cuts in the plywood subfloor. Leaving this review to warn others and advise against hiring.

  • Over the years we have had a number of interactions with construction types. We have lived the horror stories. This was a total opposite. Jeff did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. Every phase of the project was finished on time, and on budget. There were no extra charges, no delays, no ignoring phone calls. Beautiful! Plus, he is a nice guy, with nice people working with him. Best experience of this type ever. I cannot recommend him enough.

  • Kitchen Design center did a great job!  They were very helpful in identifying ways to make the project more doable and cheaper.  They even advised that I independantly hire someone to install the duct work for a cooktop downdraft before starting the project, thus saving me a couple hundred dollars.
Staff were very communicative during the whole process.  Lots of phone calls to verify that materials were in route, subcontractors were onsite, etcetera.  Tile guy did an outstanding job.  Only negative was getting the plumber to install an iceline cost a phenomenal $170 for something that took 30 minutes and, which he could've done while finishing the plumbing.  Should've done it myself.  Completion of the job was delayed by only one day.  Whole job took 4 days.
    Overall,  they were outstanding.

  • Fabulous.  The rugs were a disaster from our 17 year old dog that was, well...17.  Now the rugs are beautiful, clean, and don't smell like anything at all (perfect).   I contacted Mike.  He was clear about the cost.  He picked up the rugs when he said he would.  He delivered them today (on Monday, 9/7/15, Labor Day), which was great for us as we were off work today.
No surprises regarding cost and he was prompt, professional, and courteous.
I highly recommend Dryex.  I am considering getting the tile and grout in my kitchen cleaned and sealed too.
