  • The sales representative, Boston, arrived right on time, was very thorough at explaining how the product works, including showing a short video. He struck me as very honest and not pushy. He explained the differences of Matvey's pricing and warranty coverage versus that of a competitor I told him I would be getting a bid from. He offered three different work scope options to choose (from just the basic lift and level of our entryway and sidewalk, to some options for supporting and filling cracks in our driveway). Matvey's bid turned out to be lower than the competitor's bid and was backed by a much better warranty. The competitor's estimator/salesperson's visit was rushed by comparison, and he seemed doubtful about being able to provide as many inches of lift as I wanted. Matvey's communication (by email) to schedule the work, sign the contract and make payment was prompt and excellent. The three person crew arrived promptly at the scheduled time, was very polite, and listened to exactly what I wanted. They did an excellent job in a short amount of time (less than two hours) with little disruption to us, and cleaned up the area nicely. They were able to raise the sunken slab four inches and to make the level of our concrete sidewalk and entryway match up again, eliminating a trip hazard and improving the appearance.

  • I wish I had found and hired Olympia Rock N Tractor 4 years ago. I have additional work that needs done and I will be hiring this Olympia Rock N Tractor in the near future. I highly recommend Olympia Rock N Tractor.

  • This is a 12 year old home that has had a shower leak for a long time. A new type of sealer for the shower pan was used and didn't work. Being that water goes down, we didn't realize there was a problem. 12 years later we did! Insurance / Safeco was called and sent a claims manager to view damage. They didn't cover damage as it had been going on too long. Was given a list of folks to call. Their bids were all over the place. So I Checked on Angie's List. My wife started calling contractors and everyone was busy. We liked the reviews on Cascade Valley Construction, and so she called Thomas. To Busy! Well she kept calling him and offered to bake him a blackberry Pie. That was too much to resist and he came to our home. Thomas went under the house pulling insulation as he accessed the damage. It was bad. He took a video of the damage and we were shocked. All of the support beams and sills were rotten and that side of the house was sinking. Thomas asked a $1000.00 to start and tore into the Bathroom and part of the bedroom. We moved upstairs as the smell and black mold was bad. As I said He was very busy and took a month to get his crew in to repair damage. The out side wall had to be removed, the floor removed and sills and beams replaced. New flooring, Plywood treated, not OSB. second story had to be braced and leveled. New out side wall was built and siding put on. Belly board was something called white board and starting to rot. so Thomas used cement board as a replacement. Now the time had arrived to put inside walls up and a new shower. Thomas put the shower together correctly using a very thick shower pan and used cement board instead of plaster board that was used originally. He then put a red sealer on the floor and walls. Thomas smiled and said this time it won't leak, We now have a handicap accessible shower and a heated tile floor! Thomas was very good at explaining what he was doing step by step and his crew was great They were here to work when they said they would be and stuck with the job until our work was done We now know why He is so busy.

  • Great outcome! Had 3 1/2 acres of scotch broom and he came in with the big bobcat that had a cutter wheel on the front. He cut it down and then mulched it as he went. Sure beats cutting it all by hand!

  • I was slowly losing all faith in contractors and people in the remodeling/construction business...until I found Jim! We hired him to install new laminate flooring in our basement that spanned about about 900 sqft give or take. This included the flooring for one bathroom. We also had him install new doors and baseboards throughout the lower level of our home. Out of all the bids I got Jim’s was the most affordable and reasonable. It’s insane how much some people charge for labor these days... Anyways my project was a pretty big one for one person, but Jim was able to complete by my personal deadline and do so with great quality of work. Several issues popped up with leveling the cement floor and cutting all the corners right for the baseboards, but nothing discouraged Jim. And although it took him a little longer to complete than planned he stuck to his original bid and only charged extra to cover extra supplies. He was always honest about his progress and his ability to get things done. He is willing to work on weekends if needed too. Jim even helped my husband and I with a couple of other things whenever he was around. Also another nice thing about Jim is that he just does things that need to be done without asking...such as caulking trim and baseboards. You wouldn’t believe how much extra, painters or installers will charge for that now! I really appreciated how I didn’t need to direct Jim on every little detail. I’m guessing his knowledge and experience help him out with that. Jim made our basement area beautiful and I’m so thankful I found him! I’ll definitely be using him again for other projects around my home. He was a man of his word as far as getting everything done to the way I wanted it. He even called me again to make sure I was happy after the fact before he sent me my bill. And yes he really doesn’t require any payment until the project is done and you are satisfied. Thank you Jim for all your hard work!

  • The work is fine, though I felt it was probably overpriced. Mostly, I feel like these guys take advantage of people who feel they have an emergency in their home that needs immediate attention. They over-dramatize what is happening in your pipes to try to sell additional services. I was glad to have the work done within days of the problem, but hated how terrible they made me feel. I would never go with them again.

  • Alejandro did a fantastic job. He is very friendly and arrived on time. He removed a huge bees nest from our outer wall, put siding back on, sealed it up and painted it to match the house. Looks great. He also repainted our whole basement, installed new trim around the floor and put backboards on our stairs. He did a quality job painting and the trim looks awesome. We're very happy with how the stairs look now too. We will definitely be hiring him back for the next project we need done.

  • Great job! They showed up on time and Tyler was great at communicating each step of the process. We were very happy with the end result. Would highly recommend them to friends and family. The crew even swept the driveway and street for us!

  • They performed excellent work and I feel they went above and beyond. When they were done, the basement was thoroughly clean and they removed rubble and other items for me as I am out of town. My tenants noted zero water entering the basement over the winter. Yes!

  • Overall, it went pretty well.  The guys doing the work were receptive to my requests regarding the way the flagstone patio was fit together.   I was happy with the outcome, though I had to finish up some things on my own.  There were no instruction provided regarding how to take care of the seeded (grass) area, the polymeric filler ("Gator Dust") around the flagstone, or cleaning and sealing the flagstone.  I would recommend giving customers those kinds of instructions.  I ended up researching various things on my own.  Some of the polymeric filler used around the flagstone was not settled and I ended up with a hole where I had placed a stool leg.  I left a message for Tyler, the owner, asking about how to address that - I did not get a reply.  I ended up buying a bag of the "Gator Dust" and will use it to fill holes and where the original filling settled/settles.  I also left a message about the grass, as after the grass started growing, it seemed a bit sparse (should I add more seed?).  I have not heard back.
For whatever reason, poor communication seems to be an epidemic among contractors. All Things Dirt isn't the worst, but there is room for improvement, particularly in regard to the follow-up.
