  Simon and his crew were very professional and hard workers. The job was over 200,000 dollars and was done in a very timely manner for the amount of work that they performed. We are very happy with the outcome. Simon is very honorable and ethical. He truly wants to do everything to please you and your vision and have the best outcome. He's also a wonderful guitar player and you get a free show when he is at your home. I would truly recommend him for any job small or as large as ours

  The first visit we were highly impressed as it only took one worker under 3 hours to install a 240 box on the entire opposite end of the house from where the panel was located. We did not have the hot tub yet so he had to come back. The scheduler did not have a opening for another 3 weeks. They kindly put us on a waiting list and we got in the next week. However, it did not go smoothly. The electrician had installed the box to close to the hot tub, as per code. A code we knew nothing about. Instead of taking responsibility he said we had to move the hot tub. One, we had showed him exactly where the hot tub was going and I even measured the spot out ensuring the cover would clear the box. Two, there was absolutely no other spot for the hot tub to go. It irked me the guy did not take full ownership of the mistake and went and sat in his truck for 45 minutes after I told him the box would have to be moved because there was no other place for the hot tub and we had spent $$$ prepping the spot it was on. I was so mad I was going to use another electrician. However, after sleeping on it and being happy with Merit in the past I decided to call and talk to the manager. Everything turned around from there. They sent the same electrician out and he had everything fixed up in a couple of hours. He did try take my GFI outlet but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that it inadvertently ended up in his bucket. I asked for an itemized invoice with parts and time. I did not get it. However, the price seemed very fair and was happy to pay it. In the end, we are very happy. We are okay with occasional hiccups; IF, the company takes responsibility and makes it right. We feel Merit did that. And have no problem using them next time.

  Simon Way, the general contractor, was great to work with.  He kept me informed of what needed to be done throughout the project and hired sub-contractors (electrician and plumbers) who did a wonderful job.  They just came in, did what was needed and left.  They didn't leave a big mess for me to clean up either.  The whole project was pretty much handled by Fred Stevens, the finish carpenter.  I can't say enough good things about Fred, except that he knows what he's doing, is a perfectionist with his work and a real craftsman.  All the people I came into contact with were very pleasant and professional, and I highly recommend SCS Contracting.
  The work went very smoothly considering several problems they encountered:  the wrong type of sub-floor material had been installed, lights in the bathroom weren't a suitable type, trim around kitchen fluorescent light box needed to be made, new doors and frames to replace existing ones were a slightly different size than the cut out space available, plumbing and faucet in one room in the garage present a challenge to use existing materials.
  There was a lot of work involved with both the remodeling and completing the new construction work that was never finished.  The project took longer than any of us anticipated but the end result is outstanding.

  Nice people but quality of work varies widely anda ttention to detail is definitely lacking.  The price sounded fair until I saw the work that was being done and saw the overall end result of some of the projects.  Overall quality of work was an issue, some of the work performed was unexcuseable, clean up was lacking depending on the worker, etc.
  
  I would look at and consider other alternatives if/when I need additional work done.
