  • My main issue is that I was told my results would be sent to my doctor the next afternoon (April 2). When I checked with my doctor on April 3 they had not arrived. I called South Sound again on April 10 and was told the doctor had been on call and had not had time to review my results but would and quot;next weekand quot;.

  • I have had a Medicare Advantage Plan with Group Health for several years after having had traditional Medicare and an Aetna supplemental plan. I wish I had changed to Group Health a long time ago for a very long list of reasons. GH offers the best method of patient care delivery I have seen. Here is what I've especially appreciated:
    -In choosing a doctor, I received bios on about a dozen primary care doctors who were all taking new patients. I selected the doctor that I thought was the best fit for me. I've been happy with my choice, but if I hadn't been, I could select a different one. All GH patients have a and quot;medical homeand quot; which includes the primary care doctor, as well as several other doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. If I need to seek care on short notice, one of those practitioners will see me if my own doctor's schedule is full. I have seen several practitioners in my and quot;medical homeand quot; over the years, they all have access to my electronic medical records. Each one has been friendly, conscientious, and capable. I've never felt rushed, and have always been happy with the care received.
    -GH has an Urgent Care Clinic operating daily after hours and on weekends which saved me 2 trips to the emergency room for a simple fracture, and an earache after hours. And they have a 24/7 consulting nurse you can call when in doubt about what to do.
    -I'm paying far less in monthly premiums for my GH Advantage plan than I was for the Aetna Supplemental Plan, and receiving far better care. GH has been well ahead of conventional practitioners in developing new and more effective ways to provide quality, affordable health care. Most of the services I've needed have been provided right at the Olympia clinic location (lab, x-ray, prescriptions, specialist’s consult, etc.) which is a real convenience for me.
    -GH’s website a special convenience. I can e-mail my doctor, order medication refills, schedule appointments, and get results for lab and x-ray tests, etc.
    And, lastly, I like the fact GH is a non-profit cooperative, organized in Seattle in 1946. Doctors are on salary and have no financial incentive to do unnecessary procedures.
    -I'm a retired RN. I'd say this is the best method of medical care delivery I've ever seen. GH is ranked near the top in the nation in terms of the quality of their Medicare plans. They are recognized leaders in terms of seeking innovative ways to improve delivery of care for patients of all ages.

  • She is with South Sound Internal Medicine. She is pretty thorough. I am rather pleased with her. She is good about getting back to me with test results and stuff. She will call me the day she gets the test result and she will tell me what they are and they are also hooked with Providence, Epic, and Peter system. So, all the doctors that participate, all the clinics that participate in this Epic system that Providence have subscribed to, they can all access our information that goes into their That is really advantageous for anybody that we work with through those providers because they don't have to call our providers and get the information and have it faxed over to them, it is already in the computer, which is really convenient for the doctors.

  • The procedure was performed in the doctors office.  He was assisted by one of his staff and it was done in an excellent manner.  The written pre-procedure instructions were clear and helpful and I had no problem in following them. I was informed along the way as to what to expect next and experienced no surprises (except that it was easier than I was expecting).  The procedure was performed with care and expertise.  I experienced no pain and only slight pressure from the equipment used.  The process seemed to go quicker and smoother than I expected and any anxiety that I had quickly subsided.  While the results of the biopsy were not what I wanted to hear, the process was well handled by the doctor and his staff.
    As an aside, when I had a second opinion consultation with a well regarded Seattle based medical center, the doctor there said that the anomaly that Dr. Ellen had discovered on my prostate was very subtle and that Dr. Ellen was very expert in finding it (they also concurred with his findings).

  • I first went to them because they are an in-network provider for my insurance.  Their appointments are on time, they are very friendly and easy to deal with.  I am pleased with my care and I will continue to go back to Ear, Nose & Throat Associates.

  • This is a small clinic with a sole provider. He has an onsite licensed lab so no side trips for lab work. He is very flexible in scheduling appointment. He takes more time with his patients than any other physician that I have previously visited.

  • It is very convenient because everything is there; all of the specialists, doctors, and labs..They have a 24/7 consulting nurse that you can call. They also have urgent care that you can visit on a daily basis through the late hours of the night where the copay is the same and you can get in to see a doctor.   It is an HMO. I think it is very good for simple medical needs, but if you need something larger you do have to get it approved. My father had a problem with hand and by the time he saw a specilaist, it was too late and he lost the mobility in some of his fingers.

  • It is a really nice, new building and the staff all seem pretty happy to be there and happy to help. They establish payment plans upfront for the entire treatment course and that was just a little confusing on the billing.

  • I love them. I never had any bad experience. Everything is run well. They work on things efficiently in terms of the patients concern. They are very thorough. They explain things. Everything is located at the same place, like the labs. The people are very kind and friendly. I would use them in the future.

  • When I called to schedule an appointment, I asked for an early appointment so that I wouldn't have to wait around if the doctor fell behind as the day wore on. I arrived early for my 9 am appointment. Although Dr. Chen is the only docotr at the practice, there were three other patients registering at the same time (and the doctor was already in the back, with other patients). After filling in the paperwork, being weighed, and having my blood pressure taken, I waited 40 minutes in an exam room with no sign of the doctor. When I inquired at the front desk the receptionist offered no apology, saying only that the doctor would be with me when he finished with the other patients. When I told her I couldn't wait all morning, she simply said "OK" - and didn't seem surprised when I walked out! He may be a great doctor, but don;t schedule an appointment unless you have a whole day to waste waiting around for him to see you!
