  • Last fall (Sept. 2013)  I was frantically trying to prepare an overdue report to the Court for my son's Guardianshp status.  It was very complicated, and I was buried in data that I couldn't balance. Our lawyer suggested I buy Quickbooks.  I soon discovered it  was way too difficult for me.  Then I bought Quicken.  It was more accessible but still hard to set up. I have multiple accounts for my son, and every time I transferred money from one account to the other, it showed up in Quicken as income rather than as a transfer.   I found Keith (aka Dr. Quickbooks) on the Internet, and in a moment of desperation, having not found anyone among friends or family who could help me, I decided to give him a try.  He came to our house  on a Sunday afternoon and rescued me!   He stayed for about 5 hours, taught me how to use Quicken, helped me organize 18 months of financial records, and printed out the reports I needed.  I was absolutely thrilled.  I joked with him that I felt like Princess Leah saying, "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi.  You're my only hope!"    I can't actually remember how much he charged me, but it was reasonable given the number of hours he spent. I believe he charged approximately $120.00 per hour, but he was very generous with his time.

I went for several months without using Quicken, and of course by that time had forgotten much of what he taught me. I am not very technologically savvy, and although using the accounts he had set up was easy,  by March 2014, I had deleted files and could not retrieve them.   I had changed bank accounts, forgotten my password and couldn't find the paper I had written it on.  In other words, I  had totally messed up the systems he had set up.  Once again I called him, and he came out promptly.  He helped me re-organize the Quicken accounts, and in addition, set up accounts for my personal taxes.  He actually enjoys taking on these challenges!
Keith is very good at what he does.  He was very patient with all my questions.  I recommend writing out a list of questions for him before he comes.   I am once again working on the yearly account to the court, but this time it is much easier, and I am being much more successful at using the systems that are in place.   I highly recommend Keith, and will use him again in the future if I need to.

  • The transition was easy. Phil took care of almost everything. He then examined my investments, and made some minor changes. Over the ensuing months we have tweaked the allocations further. He is thorough in his research, and spends time with me every quarter to review performance. He will also provide an ongoing status report of my financial status in light of articulated goals, if I want it. All of his recommendations have been solidly, and have solidly out-performed the market. I wish I had moved my accounts years ago.

  • I don't have any point of reference, this being my only investment experience.
