Irrigation System reviews in Kenmore

    Sound Irrigation Inc
We noticed a leaking section of pipe in our irrigation system at the beginning of summer and contacted several other companies to get someone out for the repair. Of the few that responded, we were told they were too busy to take new customers. The others didn't respond at all. Finally, in July, we contacted Sound Irrigation. We received a response the same day, and had the work scheduled for the first week of August! They were even apologetic for scheduling a couple weeks out and offered the name and number of a competitor. Needless to say, we went with Sound Irrigation rather than trying to contact anyone else. The day of service, we were scheduled for a 10-12:00 window, and were pleasantly surprised when our service person arrived at 8:00. He was done within an hour. It's shocking that we had such a hassle with the other companies to do a simple repair, including the company that originally installed our system. Sound Irrigation will get our business for winterizing our system, as well as our recommendation for any of our friends looking to have a new system installed.

    Vertumni Fine Landscaping and Gardening

I found Bruce to be very personable and in spite of being the most expensive of 4 bids, we decided to work with him because we liked his initial thoughts and considerations. None of the individual issues were problems in and of themselves, but when put together, we were disappointed with our experience.

    • 1. Our project got pushed out about 3 weeks past the initial expected date
    • 2. When our work was completed and we got our invoice, our costs were $1500 over our estimate and we had never been informed of this in the process. When I brought this up, Bruce apologized and asked how I felt it should be handled. As a gesture of good faith, thinking we wanted to continue working with him, I offered to split the overage.
    • 3. Bruce planted 5 beautiful hydrangeas ? not too long after, they started getting absolutely fried. It soon became clear that their sun exposure had been miscalculated/not considered. We?ve since paid to have them moved because the leaves were literally getting charred.
    • 4. I had a pruning question that took 3 weeks for a response.
    • 5. Limited warranty: This spring, we had one plant not come back at all and three other plants that were about 1/10 th the size of their same-plant neighbors. After emailing, we were told that these were not instances of failure to thrive and the limited warranty would not apply.
    • 6. ?Design on the fly? meant plant decisions were made the day the project started. Retrospectively, this was not the best way to go since the garden was not at all attractive during the winter months (we?d discussed adding things so it had ?something? all year), and the hydrangeas were very ill-placed. It also meant that we had no concept of what ?finished? would look like until it was done.

    The pros:

    • 1. Bruce was personable and initially seemed invested and thorough.
    • 2. The landscaping colors go very well together and look great in spring/summer months.
    • 3. Bruce was able to connect us with someone for irrigation and stump removal needs.
    • 4. Aside from one email experience, all emails were responded to promptly.

We opted to divide our landscaping into several phases, so our initial phase was around $5000 ($6500 with overages) ? perhaps it was ?too small? of a project to merit full attention. Regardless, we spent more than we initially planned on spending and are paying to have portions of the initial work re-done.

    Rain Pros Inc
Rain Pros was my lowest bid and offered the best warrenty (lifetime). These were deciding factors.
Also appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of the workers.
Job took one day, as predicted.
There was some significant settling of new asphalt and dirt where the excavation had been. Aaron responded in a timely fashion to my complaint, sent out someone to fix the problem.
The Aaron called me to follow up on my satisfaction. Bonus points for that!
Since then, the installed system has worked just as expected. No more settling.
I'd definitely hire Rain Pros again.

They were very prompt and got the testing done fairly quickly. While they were here, I asked them to test the system and clean out some of the sprinkler heads. They also found a broken pipe that I did not know about and repaired another one that was known. They got everything in working order and then reprogrammed the system for me. They were very quick and efficient.

Initially, Dave was very responsive, and the price was reasonable at $550. He gave us drawings of the way the garden was supposed to look, and we approved.
However, after they left, we realized the garden looked NOTHING like the drawing, and we asked for a Japanese Maple in there, but got some other tree we cannot even recognize. The plants were in the wrong location, and was not on the drawing.
I called several months later to have them come back out, and Dave said he would contact me the next week. Well, three months passed, and I sent several emails, but got NO response from them. So finally I sent an email to their VP, and finally Dave called back. He mentioned that the price above was during off season, and that now since it it 'high season' (It was June) he said the prices were now tripled.
Needless to say, we went to a competitor, and got an even better price with MUCH better service.
I would NOT recommend this company at all.

I really enjoyed working with John and his team from start to finish.  I had a basic idea of what I wanted done, and John's ideas added to the vision of what we actually did. John was very professional in his approach, and kept me well informed along the way.  He and his team kept everything as neat as possible, and cleaned up each day during the project.  I am very happy with how everything worked out, and how the yard looks, and look forward to working with John in the future on the next phase of the project.

Excellent. Bill is a man of integrity and great patience. He's also got a down to earth sense of humor. He kept in contact with us before our appointment, and showed up on time, on the agreed date. He was fast at his work, but slowed down to my pace when I asked him to explain how to use all the features on our irrigation system. He's a great communicator with his customers, and was also very frugal. Instead of selling us new sprinkler heads, he located four perfectly good heads in our lawn that were wrong for the jobs they were doing, and swapped them to fit the needs of the lawn. The price was very fair. It's been a few weeks since he's been here, and our grass has gone from a dried out, dying matte, to a beautiful, perfect, lush green lawn, thanks to his watering advice and technical solutions. We will definitely have him come back to do our lawn weatherization. Thank you, Bill!

Went well. We played telephone tag several times, but they did not give up. Made a time to be at the house. He was there early and underway before I arrived. When he started the system was all messed up. When he left it was working as it should. Obviously he knows his business.

I've used TGY landscaping for 5 years now and Fidel and his crew have been prompt, thorough (not even one tiny weed will remain) and very reasonably priced on every job. He is there every time doing the work himself and supervising his one or two employees. They are fast! Plus, he is a genuinely nice guy. He can schedule you quickly. I'll call him Monday and he'll come out Tuesday while I'm at work. I have a small yard that I can have a full clean-up done on 2 times a year for $420. An in-between clean up (mow, weed - no bush trimming) was $120.
