    The Grass Groomer
It was great while it lasted, then disappeared. I used the Grass Groomer for years, and the quality and service were great. Then, a month ago I get an email saying "We are in the process of selling our property. We received an all cash offer, but with the stipulation that we have to be off the property by the end of this weekend, so I will not be there for service until next week." That was the last I've heard from this company. Emails have gone unanswered, the phone voice mail is full.

About what was expected but I had hoped for a little more "extra" here and there without asking just to make make me feel better. Two men came over on an unexpected day and did most of the work except for the ramp, but they didn't seem to have their heart in it...just doing the job. The main contact man came by and is better to deal with. All in all, okay, but they did a better job last year or so when they came. I might hire again, but would look around a bit before I called them.

    Le's Landscape & Yard Work
Fantastic! While talking to Mr. Le I told him I had a trouble spot in my front yard that gets a lot of foot traffic. In winter that results in dead grass and lots of mud. He designed a french style walkway next to my driveway that looks fantastic. No more mud or trying to regrow grass every spring. They also power washed my driveway, steps and front porch. Their power washer is much more effective than mine. They trimmed all the bushes and grass. Mr Le supervised the building of the pathway himself. He is very meticulous. A true craftsman with a lot of pride in his work. He will also do a little extra every time I have contracted with him. I told him it would be nice to clean up the backyard too but they didn't need to do it this time. It doesn't get a lot of attention in winter typically. But they did it anyway. They power washed all the moss off the back sidewalks and mowed the grass too. they didn't charge any extra for that work. They did it all in about 3 hours. Mr. Le is usually not the cheapest quote but when he is done I have always felt it was worth it, and more. He will always do things I never thought of. He does what needs to be done every time. And that is why I have enjoyed his companies services for 4 times now. I will probably have a job for him this spring.

    Pro Cleaning Seattle LLC
They actually did a lot more than that. They were on the job for the full 4 hour time window we arranged. They scrubbed and scraped and power washed. It took a lot of elbow grease to get a lot of the pesky embedded moss off. I could see it was hard work. Of course it made quite a mess on the ground around the perimeter of the house. But they completely removed everything. As a side bonus they removed a lot of the leaves around my house and my gutters are spotless. They applied the zinc which disappeared in a couple of days. I couldn't be more pleased. I will definitely contract with them again!

    Urban Jungle Landscaping
Sent crew of 3 hard working men for two full days. They did an excellent job and turned our overgrown side yard into a beautiful park-like area. They were experienced at setting round pavers, measuring the diameter, and placing the stones precisely. They also shored up our wooden retaining wall which was leaning - - but not noticeable until the overgrown weeds were gone. Our drainage channel had experienced 200 year rains in the past and the rocks had fallen and were a mess. This crew brought in more rock, replaced the others, and removed vegetation that was in the way. Duy was professional from start to end. He gave a realistic timeline of when he could come and give an appraisal. He returned when we decided to do additional work and updated the quote, yet maintained the original start date. His crew is amazing, they are polite and dedicated to exceptional service. I was pruning bushes and trees in another area and they offered to load the cuttings in with the other yard waste and haul it for FREE! I told them they didn't have to, but they insisted on being helpful. Amazing service, would recommend to everyone.

    T & W Landscape Services
Was able to schedule initial consultation and walk-through for that weekend. Tamara and Wes arrived early and it was immediately obvious that these two definitely know their plants and gardening know-how. We went through a lengthly list of all the items that needed to be addressed in the front and back yards, all of which they could tackle. After a bit of back and forth on the phone negotiating price, we agreed on a start date. I think the whole project was completed over a span of a few weeks. Since it's just the two of them and no subs, you have to be flexible on timing and ok with having the work done in increments. Not a problem for us at all, but something to consider if you have a hard deadline and need work done asap. These two are great at what they do, easygoing and friendly, and will be taking care of our landscaping needs from now on.

Brian was great to work with. He was very attentive to our thoughts/ideas, and left us with a beautiful yard. I appreciated that he was aware of cost, and suggested doing the hard-scaping in the spring and waiting to do the plantings until the Fall to take advantage of our natural rain and eliminate crazy water-needs over the summer. He felt honest and knowledgeable, and his team were all exceptionally polite and kind.  Based on estimates I'd received from others, Brian was the most reasonable of all the 4 bids. We had initially started last year with another landscaper who was more expensive and ended up being less than ideal; after finding Brian this year, we discovered he provided significantly better service and results for less money; we would highly recommend him.

    PROGRASS LANDSCAPE CARE & DESIGN
Arrived on time at 8 AM and finished by 4 PM even though it was a damp and soggy day.  Did all the agreed-upon work plus some extra we weren't expecting just to make our front yard look nice.  Took care to place plants where we wanted them and listened to our requests if there was anything in question.

    Aerating Thatching Co
    Summary:
If you want someone who knows what he's doing, takes pride in his work, and delivers results, this is the right guy. You just have to be patient.
    Background:
We are new to America, and homeownership, having just moved here after living overseas in an apartment for most of our lives. We aren't at all familiar with lawns or how to care for the grass in this environment. The lawn in our new house was very problematic (and by problematic, I mean it was mostly dead). But, we wanted to get our hands dirty as lawn maintenance is currently new and exciting for us, so we didn't want to hire a full service land scaper. We just needed a bit of advice, and some help with aerating and thatching -- work that I really didn't want to do with hand tools.
    Good:
Stewart clearly knows his work. he was professional, worked quick and answered all of the questions I had (and I had a lot!) about my lawn. He didn't up sell me on things I didn't need - he just came and did the necessary, did it well, and charged a fair price for his work.
I grew up in a small, blue collar town, and I'm used to working with people who take pride in their work and focus on doing the right thing for the job. I feel that's what I got with Aerating/Thatching co.
    Bad:
Stewart has a ton of business, and is incredibly busy. I imagine it's doubly h****** account of everyone calling for work all at the same time. As a result of this, he is super tough to get a hold of. It took > 2 weeks and a couple of tries before we connected. If you want someone who will call you back promptly, or have work that needs doing urgently, this is probably not the guy you're looking for.

    Vertumni Fine Landscaping and Gardening

I found Bruce to be very personable and in spite of being the most expensive of 4 bids, we decided to work with him because we liked his initial thoughts and considerations. None of the individual issues were problems in and of themselves, but when put together, we were disappointed with our experience.

    Concerns:

    • 1. Our project got pushed out about 3 weeks past the initial expected date
    • 2. When our work was completed and we got our invoice, our costs were $1500 over our estimate and we had never been informed of this in the process. When I brought this up, Bruce apologized and asked how I felt it should be handled. As a gesture of good faith, thinking we wanted to continue working with him, I offered to split the overage.
    • 3. Bruce planted 5 beautiful hydrangeas ? not too long after, they started getting absolutely fried. It soon became clear that their sun exposure had been miscalculated/not considered. We?ve since paid to have them moved because the leaves were literally getting charred.
    • 4. I had a pruning question that took 3 weeks for a response.
    • 5. Limited warranty: This spring, we had one plant not come back at all and three other plants that were about 1/10 th the size of their same-plant neighbors. After emailing, we were told that these were not instances of failure to thrive and the limited warranty would not apply.
    • 6. ?Design on the fly? meant plant decisions were made the day the project started. Retrospectively, this was not the best way to go since the garden was not at all attractive during the winter months (we?d discussed adding things so it had ?something? all year), and the hydrangeas were very ill-placed. It also meant that we had no concept of what ?finished? would look like until it was done.

    The pros:

    • 1. Bruce was personable and initially seemed invested and thorough.
    • 2. The landscaping colors go very well together and look great in spring/summer months.
    • 3. Bruce was able to connect us with someone for irrigation and stump removal needs.
    • 4. Aside from one email experience, all emails were responded to promptly.

We opted to divide our landscaping into several phases, so our initial phase was around $5000 ($6500 with overages) ? perhaps it was ?too small? of a project to merit full attention. Regardless, we spent more than we initially planned on spending and are paying to have portions of the initial work re-done.
