Cabinet Making reviews in Federal Way

They came and estimated for the rec room and the bathroom cabinet. The bathroom cabinet was completed and the work was excellent. The rec room cabinets, they kept putting off and about 9 months later we gave up. Their customer service sucks!!!! This was a few years go, but that experience completely wrecked the time frame for our remodel.

Would not hire again. Would think about it if I received an apology for their very, very poor customer service --- 1 year later the order was not completed. They are very nice people so consequently as we had chosen them to do the work we wanted to stay with them. I think the economy turned around, some big jobs came with problems as that is life and we were at fault in waiting too long and it really put our project way behind. The piece they did complete - the quality was excellent. I think this is a fair review - obviously our job was quite small but work should be completed in a reasonable time and definitely no more than 3 months from the order date.

I will have to get back with you regarding the outcome.  As of right now we are not getting
a response from Erichsen.   I really like their product.
One of the reasons we picked Erichsen  was their reputation and the fact that they are a small business - along with recommendations and quality of work  ---  but service still does matter.

We had gotten a bid from them to do our master bath cabinets and when we were ready to get started they did not respond to repeated emails and phone calls.  We even drove to their shop to speak with them and was told they were just finishing up a big job and that they would be available to come out and do final measurements and get started in a day or two.  That was two weeks ago and NOTHING!  It's too bad, because they seemed like nice people and gave us a fair price.

    Mehl Homes Inc

Ethan promptly came out to give me a bid on updating and renovating my kitchen. He had some great suggestions about things that I had not even thought of, and truly listened to me regarding what I wanted done. He took a lot of measurements, and then sent me drawings of what the finished kitchen would look like along with a reasonable bid, and I accepted it. He came to the house to bring me samples of cabinet styles and colors, and referred me to a flooring and counter company, as well as a faucet company where I picked out what I wanted. All of the supply companies he uses provide high quality custom products. Ethan worked with me on some changes I wanted to make to the original plan, and discussed and advised me of the cost before the changes were made. He wanted it to be as wonderful as I did, so he took the extra time to bring many samples for me to choose from, base boards, molding, transition strips, light and outlet covers, little things that he could have just chosen himself, but he wanted to be sure everything was done correctly the first time. (And it was!)

Custom made cabinets were ordered and when they came in, the work commenced. The first day was demo day, and everything in the kitchen was removed, right down to the tile floor. Painters and flooring guys came next, then cabinets and tile, counters and sink and appliances were reinstalled. Every one of the guys who worked on the kitchen (demo crew, painters, flooring, tile, electrical, plumbing, etc) were professional and everyone did fantastic work. Especially the clean up they did every day before they left. Ethan kept me informed daily as to who was coming to work on the kitchen, and did a lot of the work himself. He was there on the job most of the time, or stopped by to make sure the work being done was up to his high standards. Start to finish, (other than waiting for the custom cabinets to be made) the job took 9 days!  Started on a Monday, worked that first week only 4 days due to a family commitment I had on Friday, and worked the next Tuesday through Friday, with a last inspection by Ethan that next week. Anything I had a question about, or any problem, he was very responsive and took steps to correct and adjust the work. The couple of things I didn't like were taken care of right away.

I honestly could not have asked for a better contractor for my remodel job. Having never remodeled anything, I was afraid I would make mistakes I would not be happy with, but Ethan made everything simple and made sure I knew what was going on.  I love my new kitchen,  it is better than I could have imagined. Thank you, Ethan and Mehl Homes.

    Stickneys & Kreutzers Construction
The quality of their work was excellent. We got new cabinets, counter-tops, and lighting. A six foot opening from the dining room to
living room was expanded to 9 feet which really made a difference in our living area. Overall very pleased with the results. You can trust Ken and Darrel with your remodeling job.

Overall, it went very well. A project of this size is not without hitches and glitches - but they were handled promptly with attention to my needs and preferences.  The subcontractors and suppliers used by Dan were first rate - and I made sure to keep their contact info if I ever need them for repairs or upgrades.  They cleaned up everything each day, and even made friends with the cats. Dan helped with picking of materials, made sure I knew what was on tap for the next few days, and was always available for questions or concerns.

Parr Cabinet Outlet was my last and best stop when shopping around for quality painted cabinets on a budget. Before stopping by the showroom, I checked the website and found a couple of specials being offered on two of the cabinet lines they carry. My salesperson, Austin Shaver, happily quoted me prices on three different cabinet lines so I could make the best decision for my needs. Because of the manufacturer's special, I was able to order Huntwood cabinets (made in Spokane) with all-plywood construction for the particleboard price -- which saved me nearly $1,000. I also brought home three paint color samples so I could see how the options looked in my home.

A few weeks earlier, I had priced ready-to-assemble, Chinese-made plywood cabinets at the local outlet of a national distributor. Including the cost of someone assembling them for me, the savings would have been only a couple of hundred dollars for what I feel would have been a product of less quality.
When I ordered my cabinets in late March, the estimate was three to four weeks for them to arrive at Parr's warehouse (the painted finish required an extra week of production time). My cabinets arrived two days shy of the four-week estimate, which was a pleasant surprise. We were able to pick them up at our convenience and, because our trailer wouldn't hold all of the cabinets, there was no problem returning the next day to pick up the rest.
All in all, a good and easy experience.

    Kitchen Plus
David Passeau was very knowledgeable and prompt. We liked him personally. We received bids from Kitchen Plus and a couple of others and decided to go with another company.
Our decision was influenced by price, but mostly because we felt like we loved the design we received from the folks we ended up having do the job. The timeline was also important as Kitchen Plus projected a start time of January and we had the job completed by November.
We were somewhat disappointed that when we called to inform Ktichen Plus that we had decided to go in another direction (thought we were being courteous to call) we were told "you couldn't  get a quality job at a better price from anyone." Seemed like a more professional response might have been something like "sorry to hear that, thanks for calling and please let us know if you change your mind or decide to do another project." Hence the C grade for professionalism. We did end up spending a bit more, but the scope of the project grew a great deal and as options were provided we decided to expand the work we wanted done.
The reason I marked this review as I wouldn't use this contractor again is that we had such a wonderful experience with the company who did this job for us we would definitely use them again if we needed more services. No knock on Kitchen Plus, they had quality products, good representation, and a great guarantee. Kitchen Plus is worth a call if you're looking for multiple bids.

    Fine Design Interior Remodeling
Our experience with Fine Design was nothing short of spectacular. From the beginning, Patty and Jemma were professional listeners who were careful to incorporate our ideas when they designed our space. They took time to explain design and materials options and ideas to us in a way that was collaborative and respectful. In the end they successfully created a really insightful, beautiful, and highly functional kitchen that exceeded our expectations.
Our home was built in 1978 and the changes we wanted to make took a lot of thought, and a great deal of imagination, which Fine Design provided. Like most homes, ours has no square corners, flat walls, or flat floors. No problem for these folks.Their ideas and the skills of the craftsmen they brought in to do the work were amazing.
Their bid was very comprehensive, detailed, and competitive. Once we agreed on all the details, the work began right on time and remained on schedule throughout the project. One or both of these ladies were at our home checking on all details and progress regularly as they had promised they would. Everyone showed up on schedule, and were done on schedule. Pros.
The work by all, including the design plan, tear out, drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical was absolutely outstanding. They all worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and clearly took great pride in their work. All the folks who worked in our home were most professional and the finish work in particular was truly masterful, especially the cabinetry and flooring. Even the paint colors they recommended are fabulous! We are very detail oriented people and were blown away by the quality of the work and materials.
When small problems arose along the way, inevitable when building such an extensive project, that is where Patty, Jemma, and their team really shined. Every phone call and email was returned promptly. Every tiny issue was handled in a professional, timely, and fair manner. They are contractor rock stars!
The project took a small galley kitchen and small family room and transformed them to a 500 sf. wide-open-light-filled space that is highly functional and beautiful. Every one of our family and friends who has been to our home since the transformation begins with "WOW, this is like a completely different house!"  We could not agree more! It's B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!
Working with Fine Design was a delight, provided great results, and they were just really fun to work with. If you are looking for a quality professional at a reasonable price to do any kind of remodel in your home you would be making a mistake not to talk to these folks first. We certainly will!
Thank you so much Patty, Jemma, and your team for having fun with us and transforming our home. You're the best!
