ASummit Homes NW IncEverything was perfect. It's taken us a Long time to find a competent, professional, talented contractor like David Tapio. We heard of David through a friend who used David for some remodeling; he showed up with enthusiasm and the knowledge to do the work we wanted to have done. David has the experience and the knowledge to do just about any remodel/house building project. The job went right along, David worked with our deck cover builder to ensure the right cover was fabricated; worked with the county to ensure that all paperwork was complete and approved. He helped us with the new configuration of the back deck and gave us great ideas for the bathroom. We have more remodeling to do in our shop and we will use David again - we wish we had found him sooner - HE IS GREAT!!! The peninsula finally has TALENT!- Suanne S.

ACraft Star SPCIt went well. Contractor was always punctual (we spread the work out over 6 weeks with sometimes only 1 or 2 days a week). They were also professional and helpful with various design aspects. They were also helpful in finding good condition used patio doors which provided substantial savings.- John S.

FProsch Construction Inc3 years, but that's another story. We agreed to allow them to proceed despite learning that their hourly rate had gone up by over 30% from 2008 to 2011. We thought they would still be reasonable with the number of hours billed. They were not. When they had billed us for the work in 2008, they had worked for 17 work days. This time they spent 5 days working on the project but they billed us for 211 man hours! 1 corner in 2011 vs. 6 corners of siding replaced in 2008, yet the bill was 3/4 of what the bill for 2008 was. They charged approximately $4000 for cleaning out the old vapor barrier in a portion of the crawl space- not even the whole crawlspace. Basically, we had relied on their past billing behavior when we agreed to proceed. Word to the wise- get the full estimate for the work up front. They did not provide this for us, or we would have never agreed to pay almost $16,000 for a job that should have cost about $9000 at most, based upon the hours reported for their prior work on the exterior siding of the same building. 1 corner!!!! We cannot recommend this company in the future. Their inconsistency and lack of forewarning is inexcusable. Thank you,- Alicia R.

AThe project was essentially a remodel of a circa 1950's beach cabin with a small addition. We chose Baker and Son on the recommendation of our neighbor who had used them to build a detached garage. Our plans were relatively simple at first: build the addition, expand the kitchen, build a new bathroom and create a new entry. As work was underway, it became clear through the advice of Baker and Son that our kitchen was too big and out of scale for the cabin. We ended up eliminating some walls and opening up the cabin in such a way that created one large room but still a separate kitchen, dining and living. It was a huge improvement to the original design. In addition to the interior work, Baker and Son completely overhauled the exterior which included new windows and siding. New structural headers were required because they didn't exist. Also, since the cabin is post and pier construction, they leveled and strengthen the existing structure. Work included new skirting as well. Their attention to detail was very impressive. They are masters at creative problem solving, patient, responsive and positive. They have a very strong sense of design. We were never pressured into quick decisions. The contract arrangement for our project was essentially time and material because formulating a bid on an old cabin remodel would involve too many unknowns. We agreed to a fair hourly rate and all material and subcontracted work we paid directly with no additional overhead or fee. This saved us money. Since we lived out of town, Baker and Son were so well connected with various vendors and subcontractors, it simplified making arrangements. Now that our project is complete, we are so excited about the end result! We would highly recommend using Baker and Son Construction for any project.

ARay was very professional and punctual. Even though my project seemed small to start with, it had a few difficulties to work with. He coordinated well with the Structural Engineer to get things right and absorbed a lot of work to get the drawings done on time. He is very prompt on returning phone calls or e-mail messages and answered all my questions. He was pretty detailed in his drawings as well.
