AOlympia Overhead DoorsWe have been using Olympia Overhead doors for over 10 years. We have had excellent service each time. The technicians have been professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. Daniel came to repair a broken sping. He he worked quickly and explained every step of the process. He offered to answer any question I had, which he did cheerfully. I learned a couple of new things about maintaining my garage door. I am impressed with the quality of technicians that work for this company.- Tom P.

AM & P Overhead DoorsAfter a horrible experience with another "local" company, the guys at M&P were a breath of fresh air. Professional, competent, really knew what they were doing, took their time and did the job right. Came back to fine-tune an adjustment; really seemed committed to the quality of their work. A little hard to get a hold of at times but well worth the effort and very responsive once we got our timing ironed out. A great job at a reasonable price, none of this "$99 special" crap. You get what you pay for, and I'd hire these guys again without question. A truly local company that stands behind their work.- John A.

AKattau ConstructionIn retrospect I am quite happy that I took the path I did as there were several unexpected developments and/or requirements that I had asked for that were "unexecutable" during the course of construction that we were able to fix on the fly. I was very happy with Scott's attention to detail during the course of construction and his quality of work far surpassed most other residential contractors I have dealt with. One of the first challenges was trying to get a permit to do the work. It turned out that the property I purchased had a barn on it that had never had a permit issued for its construction. (Not disclosed in the seller disclosure). As a result the issuance of a permit was delayed a bit until we reached an agreement with the county that we would retroactively get a permit for the structure and do any required fixes that a structural engineer determined were necessary. I ended up having to get Scott to do some additional concrete work on the barn foundations to make the county happy and hired a separate contractor to do some of the wood structural work to keep Scott focused on getting the house completed on time. I am a retired engineer with some experience in doing construction projects. Scott would be the first to tell you that I am a somewhat uncompromising taskmaster and I really appreciated the fact that Scott would push back based on his extensive experience in what works in home construction. We made several adjustments to the layout of the home as we went along and we had a good give and take on what I was adding vs items that were abandoned for a credit and the overall cost impact. The only issue I had with our project centered on critical path planning. For those not familiar with large projects this is the planning that determines what work that needs to be done today (eg: material ordering) to ensure that the work we are going to be doing in the next several weeks goes smoothly. This improved as we got through the project and at the end we ended up getting it done in the agreed time frame (excluding the delay in getting the permit at the outset of the project). I would certainly recommend Scott to anyone looking for a quality contractor to do either a renovation or construction project.- Paul L.

APrecision Garage DoorsMy garage door quit working. Because I work during the week it was a Saturday when I finally got around to calling someone. Several places were closed Saturday, but when I got Precision I reached the owners home. The guys wife said he wasn't available, he was up on the mountain, but she promised he would call me back the same day. By 8 pm I hadn't heard back from him so I thought and quot;that was thatand quot;. By 8:30 he called and made an appointment to come look at it on Monday. They were here and waiting by the time I got home. They examined the door and determined that I needed a new spring. The guy said he would come back later in the day when I was off of work and comp;eted the work in the same day!- Diane B.

AOlympic Garage DoorI had an old, rotted garage door hooked up to an electric opener system that needed replacing. After reviewing Angie's List, I contacted Olympic Garage Door. I had a firm estimate in hand within 24 hours. The deal was struck, I was told what steps I needed to take to prepare my garage, and the door was ordered. When the time came for installation, a crew showed up on the scheduled day, ON TIME (actually, 40 minutes EARLY - NO WAITING ALL DAY!) It took 30 minutes to remove the old door and its hardware, and another 2 hours to install all the hardware and the new door, hooking it up to the existing opener system. I was deeply impressed with the work ethics, level of attention to detail, professionalism, and courtesy shown during my encounters with this company. They didn't try to sell me a new opener system since mine was still operational, gave prompt, courteous service and sold me a good product. I am very pleased with the results, and my neighbors are, too! (At least one other has already hired them based on the work they did for me!)- Mary M.

AHoppe Construction IncIf he does the work, he guarantees it. He'll come back if he has to do something extra without any argument. I have called his at 2:00 am with problems and all he said is "I'll be right there." I would use him again.- Cindy P.

AM & P Overhead DoorsThis is a great company to do business with. When I called to schedule, the owner gave me some ideas to try to see if it was an easy fix that I could do myself and avoid a service call. It didn't work, so we scheduled an appointment for the next day. He called ahead, arrived on time, quickly did the fix (it was in fact something I couldn't do myself) did routine maintenance on both doors ? oiled the tracks, checked the wiring, adjusted the downward force ? and told me how to keep things clean and running smoothly. Pleasant, cheerful, personable, professional, efficient. A local company.- KATE L.

AExperience with this company was GREAT! It was so good, I didn’t even bother calling another company. The office personnel was very professional and she really knew what she was talking about. This was not just a person passing on messages to the actual contractor and just scheduling appts. She asked some very specific questions, talked through the process and then sent someone out to take a look right away. They provided an estimate quickly and came out within a week or two. The onsite crew was prompt, extremely professional, conscientious about their work and left the site very clean upon departure. I don’t know if the price was competitive or not but the company was a pleasure to work with in every way and I would call them back again if I needed additional work completed.

AThe repairman was very professional. He called ahead to tell us when he was on his way and arrived right on time. He took one look at the door and could tell it was recently painted and immediately diagnosed the issue. The paint from the door was adhering to the door trim. He showed us the problem areas and instructed us how to tenor thee paint properly. He was friendly and courteous at all times. Since he didn't perform any labor he even waived the $140 service charge!

FThe technician pulled a roller off the door; then told me all the rollers were bad. He wanted to replace them for $150. I asked him if he checked the other rollers; he said no. The door is very easy to raise & lower by hand so I told him no. I asked him if he would check & lubricate the chain. He said that would damage the unit. The owners manual recommends checking the chain tension & adjusting it if needed. He did not look at it at all. He did not perform a safety check either.

F“SEARS IS SLIPPING! I bought a brand new refrigerator for an upscale rental in Winthrop, Washington. I plugged it in and 24 hours later it was still warm inside, neither the freezer nor main interior were cooling. On Tuesday, February 11th I called for service and was told it would be A FULL Month before a repair technician could come by. I told them this is unacceptable and they said they'd put me on "emergency status" and would call me within 24 hours to give me update. NO CALL. On Thursday (the 13th) I again called them, this time requesting a loaner for the month till the technician could come out. They said they would call me back within 24 hours and again, the time passed with NO CALL! On Saturday, the 15th, I called Sears again and an employee in charge of “escalation resolution” told me there was nothing she could do to expedite service or provide me with a loaner in the interim. I asked if I could speak to her superior, she said, “yes”, after which, she put me on hold for nearly half an hour, before the call was dropped and I could not locate her. They are completely M.I.A. Do NOT BUY appliances from Sears. They no longer provide adequate support for their products.“

AOur elderly wooden double garage door finally stopped working, losing rollers and going off the rails. I called Performance Building Products for a quote, and received one from Aaron by e-mail the next morning. We discussed options by e-mail and he came out on the next day that we were available to look at the site and give us a firm price. He ordered the door and it was installed 8 days later.
The door looks good, it was done in less than a day, and the installers cleaned up well. They had to do some planning and fiddling to make things work in our old garage. Everyone I dealt with was prompt and professional. I had quotes from other companies, and while PBP was not the least expensive, their lead time was shorter. I would happily recommend them.
