Cabinet Making reviews in Camas

Worst experience I have ever encountered when working with sub contractors. This guy is a total joke. He could not even bother to call us or return to the job site after we tried to call him 3 times within five minutes of leaving the job. Doors made to wrong specifications, stain looked like a two year old had worked with finger paints, roll out drawers would not roll out due to incorrect width of cabinet doors when being built, and the list goes on and on. We had the Amish build cabinet doors which are beautiful; we threw his cabinet doors out in the wood pile.

I am trying to find a way to articulate how happy we are to have worked with Design Doctors (DD). We were in the process of repatriating back to the US, moving to a new town, and this was our first major remodel. The following are highlights, but at the highest level I would just say that if you want to have confidence that you will land on excellence in outcomes, go with DD. 1.) Justin was extremely responsive and hands-on throughout - his greatest contribution was that he has great judgment about structural dynamics of houses and how to improve them and at the same time he has great taste and judgment with respect to interior design. He did a very good job of helping us avoid bad decisions and was able to get the best out of two married people who sometimes had opposing views. 2.) These guys are just plain professional. We knew from the beginning that they would not allow things to go wrong, and they wouldn't cut corners. Justin was very good about managing expectations and keeping us from frustration and disappointment. In my job we have a saying: "happiness is a function of expectations set" and DD really live by this. 3.) Harry, the lead on overall project management was present throughout the entire project and by the end we felt he was part of the family and we felt a sense of disappointment that he wasn't going to be a permanent part of our household. I think one of Design Doctors' biggest challenges is to conclude projects and move on... we could keep thinking of more and more things to do... 4.) Commitment to excellence - Scott, their genius of finishing work solved some very difficult problems created by the original builders of the house. There were things about the design that were just plain goofy and he was able to come up with innovative solutions that were just plain brilliant. I also note that I would come in and find him working on nights and weekends to stay on track... but also because he was just so committed to getting it right. Hard to put a price on that. 5.) Subs - this is frequently the make or break aspect of remodels and DD do not make tradeoffs. The commitment to excellence is consistent from the core DD team, but also through the subs as well. It is very clear they work so closely together that they are almost indistinguishable. 6.) Because this was our first remodel, we created a lot of change orders. Justin and team were extremely flexible and adaptable and still stayed right on time. 6.) DD probably isn't the cheapest and I wouldn't want them to be. We cared about quality and ensuring that our investment wouldn't fall apart after the work was completed. We didn't have time to micromanage. Justin has worked in this area so long that he knows all of the historical issues with builders in the area - that has enormous value and saves money in the long run. Businesses should be compensated for value created. Bottom line - the feeling at the end was similar to the end of a great book or movie. We felt bittersweet that it was over. How many times have you felt that after working with contractors? I am super critical (I manage all types of engineers), and can say it has never happened before. Finally, on the 4th of July we invited a bunch of the local neighbors to see the house and they were astounded at the transformation. We even met one of the previous owners (2 owners ago) and they couldn't believe how much more solid and of high quality the house seemed. Enough said I guess...

Jeff did an exceptional job of removing and reinstalling the cabinets as if they had never been removed. The walls around the cabinets have a faux finish, and I cannot even tell that the cabinets have been removed. The schedule was a challenge as I had a remediation company working as the general contractor and Jeff was able meet all of the deadlines that were required by the other contractors. Had I let the remediation company remove the cabinets, they would have likely been destroyed. Jeff easily saved me $3,500 (probably more) by being able to save my cabinets. I also had Jeff refinish my fireplace mantle and he restored it to like new condition. Jeff was very pleasant to work with and was very professional. I would definitely hire him again.

Robin Nicolaides (president) and his team did an excellent job.  The design, materials, construction, installation, and finish are all topnotch, and we are very pleased the workmanship and the overall results.  It is also worth noting that all individuals involved in the project were excellent craftsmen in addition to being very accommodating and pleasant to work with.  We would use Empire Closets again, and we already have recommended them to family and friends.

My experience with them went very well. I chose them because of the $49.00 price. They were on time arriving, but slow to make the plans -- but understandably, because we have a round kitchen. He delivered a good design.

We'll definitely be using Jeff again for other carpentry projects in our home.  The work quality is top notch and they could easily charge much more money for their services.  They were incredibly professional and respectful of our home.  Can't wait for them to start the next project!

**Don't be afraid to use Jeff just because he does not utilize email and electronic correspondence.  He is prompt to return voice messages and it's easy to work around this.

The whole team from the office personnel, owner, and install guys was professional, helpful, and punctual.  The turn around time between my estimate to installation was about 4 weeks which was perfect for us to be able to prep the kitchen for the installation. (We tore out the existing bar counter and counters on our own) The installation crew was polite and professional. I enjoyed watching the whole installation process and the required seam almost completely disappeared, as a matter of fact, I would have to point it out for it to be noticed at all.
I found the sink I wanted online with the website that had the lowest price and AMG was able to beat that price for my sink by about 50.00 so I didn't have to hassle about waiting for that to arrive on my doorstep and store it until installation.
I had a concern about a couple rough spots on my granite after installation and AMG was very responsive in sending an employee out right away to address that issue which was really no issue at all. Small rough spots here and there is normal for certain types of granite, it occurs during the polishing process and the heat involved in the process.
Granite installation is a big decision financially. I would highly recommend American Marble and Granite for the quality of work and their professionalism.

On both occasions, Eli was very professional, knowledgeable and creative.  He produces beautiful custom cabinetry and is very detail oriented from planning to installation.  He is prompt, courteous and communicates well.    I wish that Eli had done all of the cabinetry in our home.

We waited several years to remodel our old kitchen. We interviewed three other contractors and just were never thrilled with their recomendations. Then we happened to see(on Angie's list) that Jeff Haven lives in our same town. So, we decided to call him. Good decision.
Jeff Haven delivers all he promises. He makes beautiful custom made cabinets, made completely of wood(our's are mission/cherry). No cheap particle board interiors. All soft close. He leaves no details out, and if fact creates many special features. We had a laundry shoot in the old kitchen, which we wanted to keep. So, Jeff designed it in to the toe kick  under the cabinet. Brilliant!
He was always here when he said he would be. He finished on schedule. He was clean, considerate and very professional.
We have used many contractors and honestly always had some kind of problem. I can with all honesty say this was our first experience with a contractor who delivered exactly what he promised and more.
Remodeling a kitchen can be a daunting task. We changed our minds several times through the decision part of the process. Jeff was never flustered by this (bless him!) Jeff made it as painless as possible. On time and in budget!!
We will always recommend him to others when they need an good, honest, reliable contractor.

I moved into a home with a typical 1990s kitchen complete with golden oak cabinets. My budget was strict but I wanted a modified remodel. Jared is friendly, hard-working, and detail-oriented. He had helpful suggestions for saving money, such as moving cabinet boxes, re-using some cabinet doors, and where to shop for appliances and hardware. The work he did exceeded my expectations and he stayed within my budget. I get compliments from everyone who sees my new kitchen. I will not hesitate to call him back for future remodels such as bathrooms, and built-in bookcases. Thanks Jared!
