Gutter Repair reviews in Bremerton

    Rigid Exteriors
I had a small slow leak that had developed over the years and I started saving money with which to pay for any repairs. When I first bought my house, the roof had been in good shape, but over the years, the roof started showing its wear and tear due to some of our heavy snows and high winds. I realized that I was probably going to need a new roof. I checked both the Angies List and Home Advisor web-sites for suggestions on experts in home roofing and amongst the contractors I selected to give me an estimate was Rigid Exteriors out of Port Orchard. I live in Bremerton and I really wanted to support local businesses. Harry, the owner was the one who came out to inspect my roof and tell me my options. All three businesses suggested Malarkey shingles and they had similar approaches to the job at hand. Harry struck me as someone with an extremely solid work ethic. I also got the impression he was someone with a great amount of integrity, something I value very much.  The estimate I received from Rigid Exteriors were in line with the other two companies I selected, so I decided to go with a gut feeling as the price difference was negligible. Along with the leak, I had some sagging areas in the roof so the initial estimate was around $14,000. I was asked to pay half up front which I did.  Work was delayed due to another house that had some serious problems, but that really didnt bother me as my time-line was very flexible.  Once work commenced, the removal of the old shingles proceeded very quickly. However, the problems with my roof were much worse than I expected. It was revealed that I had some uninvited rodent guests staying in my attic and some clean-up needed to be done. This occurred in two separate areas of the house. It was also discovered that more than the estimated plywood planks were in worse shape and those additional pieces needed to be replaced. Brian, the foreman in charge of the job, kept me well-informed of the situation and gave me my options very clearly. I kept on telling him I needed the job done right and that was my bottom line. Brian echoed the integrity and high-quality workmanship attitude which Harry, the owner, required from his employees.  At no time did I ever feel that corners were being cut or lower quality materials were being used.  Unfortunately, the city of Bremerton raised some concerns about my 1920s roof. There was some confusion as to what should be done and Harry and his crew understood that they needed to make repairs. The city then stopped the work due to the confusion. Over three weeks passed when the city finally decided that the work Rigid had done was the correct way repairs should be done and allowed them to finish the remaining 2% of the job. The final 2% of the work didnt even take a full day to complete and now I have a wonderful new roof with ridge vents and 130 mph resistant shingles. A double-set of ridge vents were installed in a section of the roof which the inspectors pointed out to me was something that very few roofing companies would do. They were very careful in making sure debris was cleared after every time they worked. I also understand that they also do siding as well. If I decide I want my siding redone, I will definitely turn to Rigid Exteriors for the job. I also have decided to have them come out once a year to check that the integrity of my roof is solid, there is no debris in the gutters (which have screens), and no moss is developing.  I felt very reassured about the work that had been done and I have absolutely no reservations in highly recommending Rigid Exteriors for your roofing needs.

The work was done very professionally. The final results are FANTASTIC. Steel roofing shingles are more expensive than normal roofing - but the product has a great warranty (50 years, transferable), and it is far more fire resistant than most other roofing products. Steel roofing is more expensive that other roof products- but a neighbor has had re-roofing done several times, and his costs are quickly adding up to what I paid, and he will soon pass what I paid, and yet not have the quality and the great appearance of what I have.

Harry was very professional with reviewing the job for estimate. His assessment of the roof and gutters did not conflict with our home inspection of what needed to be done, and he also made good suggestions to enhance the job. He didn't try to make us purchase a whole new roof, and delivered exactly what we agreed on. We are very pleased with the results!

    Johnny Tsunami Wash
If we completed this evaluation based on the first time we used the service, the ratings would be different.  We have contracted with Johnny three times.  Each experience is less and less professional.  The first year was a delight.  Last year, his technician was sick at the last minute and had to reschedule.  This is understandable.  However, this year the tech became sick again on the scheduled day but we were not notified until an hour after the scheduled timeframe.  Johnny left a garbled voice mail and then did not respond to a call back.  He sent an e-mail asking to reschedule.  While it was tempting to cancel as someone waited for them for two hours, we rescheduled.  The work was completed on the second appointment.  However, landscaping was disturbed and not put back in place. It is doubtful that we will use them again.

    LeafFilter Gutter Protection
The intial sales presentation went o.k but most of the stuff he said turns out to be false. On the day of the installation one of the installers informed me that my DECRA roofing was fastened through the old gutters and needed to be unfastened. I gave the o.k. for that. They failed to inform me that they wouldn't be able to refasten the shingles they loosened for the install. After speaking to the VERY rude and obnoxious installation manager several times and getting nowhere, he came to my house. At that point he not only was rude to me but to the roofer I had here to inform him his company messed up. Still they refuse to fix what they damaged. Eventually, they gave me a supposedly generous $200 dollar discount on the install. It will cost at least $800 to have someone fix it if I can find someone who specializes in this kind of roofing and will even touch it. So far I've had two roofing companies tell me that they won't touch it! BOTTOM LINE, DO NOT use LEAF FILTER! You are warned! Still won't fix or get someone to fix my roof but did threaten to put a lien on my house when I told them I wouldn't pay until it was done correctly. I paid and they processed that within a day, but just can't fix my roof that they loosened.
Had a installer come and look at my gutter for warranty work due to leaks at a junction point. Water pours over my fascia boards and not through the gutter! Once again they seemingly have blamed my roof for the issue as I haven't heard from them since the 20th of November. I have texted their installer twice! Pictures of the defect were taken by the installer and given to me acknowledging the issue, but yet nothing has been done about it! All of this after they unhooked the shingles and didn't put them back! If you do business with this company, you might as well burn your money! Find someone else!

    JC Painting & Remodeling
JC Painting & Remodeling couldn't have been better. I sent them an e-mail at 2.30 on a Thursday afternoon they called me at 3.30. They came the next day to give me an estimate. I was really impressed. The sales person walked around the whole house with me and talked to me the whole time and explained why something needs a repair or can wait. It wasn't like he jumped in and said everything could be set. He was very reasonable. He suggested some colors but I didn't stick with him. For the repairs they have another section and someone else had to come and actually give the bid. He came four days later. He too walked around the house with me and suggested what needs a repair and what could wait till the roof got replaced. What had to be done immediately. After I talked to them I decided not only to do the house but also the deck. The bottom of the deck is timber but the railing is cedar. They are going to re-stain the cedar and pressure wash the deck and I also added cleaning of the gutters. I have a different kind of gutter in my house the gutter itself is a part of the roof one part of it is leaking real bad. They are going to be doing repairs on that and wood work on one of the trusses. They are doing the exterior of the house. They are also going to repair some of the cape on the garage. They listened to the kind of money I had to spend, they told me what could be done now and what could wait. They also gave me a good idea of what I needed to do 5 years later. They are also doing repair work on the truss on the roof so that it will stay till the roofing can be replaced 5 years later. They came up with reasonable ways to fix things. I was very impressed. They also gave me a veterans discount. There was a discount on Angie's List. They did not combine both the discounts but they gave me more of a discount. I was happy with that. What I really appreciated is when the guy came for the bid he had ideas. He shared his and listened to my  ideas. You cannot make a 1970 house look like a 1990 one so he pointed out to some strips in front of the house that was not structural, that could be taken off and the same wood could be used to frame the windows. They were very prompt. They will pressure wash the house tomorrow. Then after two days they will remodel it and last the painting will be done. I had figured in my head what it would cost for the painting but when they came in they told me a cost for all the repairs and paint the amount that I thought would cost to paint the house. They had a high grade on Angie's List. They have two departments to do the remodeling and painting and both co-ordinate and schedule the work.

    Northern Pacific Exteriors

The whole team of people that we dealt with were very professional, kind and courteous. Jasmine and Michelle called on a weekly basis to let us know that everything was still on track for the repairs.

Prior to starting work, all of the billing and costs were explained to us down to every detail so that my wife and I understood and in the end there were no surprises or hidden fees. All of the repairs were done almost down to the penny of what we were told that it would cost.

The roofing team showed up early in the morning and went straight to work. They had the roof stripped of all the old shingles, felt paper, flashing, gutters, and bad OSB within 3 hours of starting work. The whole roof was completed within six hours of starting. The team leader, Romeo, was polite and courteous as well. Him and his  team kept the work site clean and clutter free as they worked, which was really nice and made it easy for theme at the end of the day.

Northern Pacific Exteriors did such a great job on the roof and it looks so well that we are having them come out and replace our siding and a couple of windows at the same time.

My initial call was for an estimate on replacing the gutters. The scheduler is real nice and friendly. The problem is that I had to call back twice to find out if they were ever going to come out and provide the estimate. After at least two weeks of back and forth, they finally called and left a voicemail with the estimate. By this time, I had already signed a contract with another company so did not return their call. I have not heard from them since. Not impressed with the turn around time in any way.

Ben and Jeff were fantastic!  The worked long and hard at making sure our new gutters were installed perfectly.  They obviously care about the work they do, and they really have an eye for detail.  Workers who take pride in their work are the kind you want to hire, and we give them the highest recommendation!

    Tristate Roofing, Inc
Summary: The salesman was a vacuum cleaner salesman type of person. "Here is the price. I can make a special discount for you if you sign up today. Paying with a credit card, I have to charge an extra 4%. Here is your three business days to cancel paperwork." The workers were subpar, even though extremely courteous and industrious. I could not communicate my concerns to them, and could not understand their replies. The job they did was average. They did not clean the sawdust off the paper after making the patch sheets before shingling over it. The paper was cut to make the patches, rather than patch first, then paper in a continuous manner. The shingling appears to have been rushed, not consistently and carefully lined up. The satellite dish is a big stumbling block for me, the salesman had been quite clear that the crew would take it down and put it back with 100% success, yet it was not put back by the crew. And the gutter crew gets below average marks for a sloppy installation. Again, this looked like a hurry up job. I payed a premium price and received average to below average service. After the first two calls to the office I could hear the girl grumbling in the background. She remained polite and receptive, though. I just expected to get what I paid for, and certainly did not get it. The final note is that the salesman insisted that hte company was GREEN, and recycled everything. Yet I find out from the foreman as he is leaving that the trailer was going to be emptied at the dump. So, Sales == misrepresentation and overcharging. GET estimates *before* considering entertaining a salesman from Tristate. Tristate's price will be at least double any competitors for exactly the same level of service.
The driveway was clear, as requested, and a trailer that blocked the (double) driveway was dropped on 7/1, when the roofers were expected to arrive. Later I was advised by phone that the roofers would be delayed four hours because of the hot day, Saturday and Sunday. I had to make a call at 1:30 PM to find out that they would not be arriving that day, but would start at 8:00 AM 7/2.
On 7/2 they arrived at 10:00 AM and tore the roofing off, disposing of everything in the trailer. The foreman introduced himself before the crew arrived, and left, to return much later that day. The turbine vents that were removed had left two foot diameter holes in the sheeting, and I was concerned that they would shingle over them. No one in the crew spoke more than a few words of English, and to my horror the foreman was no better. The crew laid paper hastily, and it went over the two foot diameter holes. One of the crew actually stepped into one of the holes while laying paper, the next line up. I spoke with the foreman, and I don't know if either of us made our points clear.
On 7/3 the crew was due at 7:00 AM, but arrived at 8:30 AM. The roof extension crew arrived at 9:00 AM, and the boss there understood my concerns about the opennings in the sheeting. He made a call to the main office to straighten out any misunderstandings. In the meantime shingles are going onto the roof at a blistering pace. When the shingling was near the first of the opennings a section of the sheeting containing the hole was removed and replaced with a small patch sheet. The crew doing the roof extension removed the satellite dish. As they were leaving (roof extension completed) I asked about the reinstallation of the dish, and was told the roofing crew would do it, they had been given all of the information. The roofing crew finished laying shingles and were leaving, and asking me to sign off on the job, which I would not do because the peak still needed eight feet of finish work, and the dish was not reinstalled. The finisher arrived and finished the peak, and again asked me to sign off, and denied that he had any responsibility to reinstall the dish. I phoned the office and confirmed that they would hire the satellite company to reinstall the dish, and also confirmed that the gutter (subcontractor) would install the gutters ASAP. I received a call from the gutter company and was asked if Monday would be okay, and I asked if Friday, 7/5 was available, since I had to be home to supervise the dogs. Arrangements were made to hang gutters on 7/5, and the paperwork and final payment were provided to the finisher. The satellite company's installer came and reinstalled my dish satisfactorily. I have not been able to confirm that the roofer has paid the satellite bill, yet.
On 7/5 the gutter crew arrived when expected, and contrary to what I was told, they were a subcontractor, not direct employees of Tristate. They did a fine job planning and fabricating the gutters. The flaw is how they installed, there are missing screw in the hangers, and at least one screw caught the flashing causing a lift of the flashing under the roof, creating a depression that could have gathered water and caused a leak, if not corrected.
