Used for several years - price competitive with doing it myself and they probably have access to better chemicals and do a better application. However, I decided to go back to doing it myself because:
    • * They recently ran machinery over they yard after a rain - making ruts
    • * They don't provide enough notification of service for me to plan accordingly
By planning accordingly, I mean that if I knew they were coming I could mow the lawn (or not mow), or water. Recently they called the day before an unwanted aeration service, not leaving me the chance to cancel.
It's hard to say how effective the service was since I can't really compare to an untreated lawn. However there were spots of weeds that were never tended to - they simply did the bulk application.

I'm not a regular, but he has other regulars in the neighborhood. I call on occasion if traveling or can't tend to the yard. Tom's always good at returning calls, fitting me in, and doing a clean job.

There was very little room in which to work. Barretts brought in one very tall crane with which to lift out the branches as they were cut, and a second bucket with sophisticated controls that held the logger with the chain saw.  (The logger controlled this bucket).  I watched the entire process.  The logger would select a large branch, or several branches, to be taken out, and would hitch them to the line connected to the tall crane.  Then he would cut the secured branches off, and the crane would life them up and over to the road, where the rest of the crew waited with a super-size shredder.  They repeated this process over and over.  At the end of an hour and a half, the job was complete:  the tree trunks had been cut to ground level (as agreed beforehand), any debris that had landed on the road or anywhere else had been swept up.
I used to live on the woodlots in Fletcher, and had hired loggers for jobs there several times.  Some of those jobs were dangerous, but none took place in such a confined, suburban space as this job.
I was really awed by Barrett's professionalism and skill.  And the bid price was fair, and they were there on time.
I live in the North Williston "Williston Woods" development, with mobile homes on small lots.  I have seen Barretts in here frequently, and have watched their work from a distance.  They have a great reputation here.
I would certainly hire them again.  They did a superb job!

    All went great !
Along with being good/fast workers, Patrick, Beth, and John are very nice -- certainly not your average
        contractors.
I would recommend them before anyone else in the business.

We figured out there was a problem with the drains late in the year, and because it was raining a lot. The whole area was a muddy mess, which makes it very hard to work with heavy equipment. Ray dug out the muck, found and repaired the pipes, trenched it properly and filled the whole area with gravel to promote drainage. While digging we accidentally found out where the septic lines are (the sketchy records of this old house said they were elsewhere) and of course they got broken. Ray quickly repaired them, and now at least I know where they are! He had to wait a few days until the ground had dried somewhat, then he built retaining walls on either side.
Ray is cheerful, professional and a pleasure to work with. He has an excellent sense of design and of the mechanics of hardscaping. His work holds up very well over time. He often brings assistants (sometimes his adult children) all of whom have been competent and friendly. His work has held up well over the years and looks great.
Because this is an old house and full of little surprises (like the septic lines), I always work on a time-and-materials basis. Ray's bills are always quite reasonable for the work done and I am always satisfied with the results.

Experience with them was excellent, from initial site visit to estimate to actual work. Work was performed on schedule and price was exactly as quoted. People did a very good job of respecting our property and cleaning up debris.

Great work. Leveled the ground. Beautiful stone used and construction is top quality. Price was much better than all competitors I contacted. Work was also performed fast. They started the job and stayed on it until completion.
