About Us

At Dog Hike Vermont, we believe that every dog deserves the chance to explore, learn, play, and adventure! Through our daily pack hikes, we strive to bring balance and structure to your dog's life by means of socialization, affection, and exercise. We provide dogs with a safe and fence-free outdoor playground where they will learn how to work as a pack in a completely natural environment. Pedigreed in high volume doggie daycares, Dog Hike VT's pack leader, Leah, has gained most of her experience and dog knowledge while handling and training packs of dogs indoors, first in her home town of Chicago, IL, and later in Burlington, VT. Leah has worked extensively under dog trainers and behaviorists to form a method of dog handling that promotes balance -- individually and within a pack. She believes that by positioning herself as a strong and calm pack leader, each dog will become fully engaged in what they are doing and act confidently as a result. Rather than enforcing punishment, negative behavior is re-directed and positive behavior is proudly rewarded. She has learned through her years of training that dogs need stimulation, both mental and physical. She has worked this philosophy into Dog Hike VT's mission statement and strives to challenge each dog in both of these areas during every hike. Here at Dog Hike VT, we don't just hike, run, and swim, but we work on vital skills that keep your dog's mind sharp and happy. Health and safety are taken seriously at Dog Hike VT, and Leah is certified in Pet CPR and First-Aid through PetTech international training center.
