  • Mark and his team are amazing. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They stayed true to budget and deadlines and my house looks incredible. Mark was eager to answer any questions I had and was never short or condescending. He took the time to explain everything and help me through the navigation of remodeling via insurance. He is trustworthy and I would recommend him to anyone.

  • Abe came out for a quote and after two weeks I reached out to see if he had completed the quote for me. He said he would work on it that night and has not responded to either of my follow up emails after that. I would’ve appreciated some clear communication and if it was a job he didn’t want to take on or couldn’t take on he should have said so instead of leaving me hanging.

  • TS is THE BEST. They work hard, fast. So friendly, and always with a chipper positive attitude. The quality of their work is honestly TOP SHELF. TS is 100% HONEST. I would only seek help elsewhere if TS was not available. But i don't because i would rather wait for when TS is available.

  • Mark and his team are outstanding. We bought a new house and wanted to get some work done quickly so we could get fully moved in. His team actually worked on the house doing flooring etc while we were living in a different state. He actually came with us to look at the shape of the house before we bought it. When he was doing work he was very diligent in giving us updates, fair prices and staying right on schedule. Once we were instate we did a total remodel of the bathroom. He and his team really are fantastic. The vast majority of the time he is onsite working with his crew. Even when he has subcontractors doing some of the work he is usually there. The two things that separate Mark from others is his punctuality and pricing . When we started our project Mark told us exactly what it was going to cost with a small buffer for anything that was unpredictable. He absolutely stuck to that quote. Furthermore, he does a fantastic job looking for ways to save you $. If there are two ways to do a job (one of which is less expensive) he will be honest with you and explain the +/- of both. In terms of his punctuality he was always on time, always showed up when he said he would and stayed right on time to finish the project. Frankly, one of the things I really like about Mark is his attitude. He doesn't mince words and he doesn't try to up-sell his jobs. He tell you directly how much something will costs and the upgrades/ downgrades you could choose depending on the quality/ cost you want. The quality of Mark's work is great. We were very pleased with the way everything came out for all the work he did for us. Please see the attached pictures. Mark likes to stay on time and on budget. Both of these are fantastic qualities in a contractor. As a client of his, that means that you have to know what you want (i.e. fixtures, details etc) or be willing to make decision fairly quickly if you want to keep the project on schedule. I think for most contractors who move at a normal speed this isn't a issue because projects take forever but because Mark actually tries to adhere to his timeline he wants to keep projects moving. At the end of the day, and end of the project we were VERY HAPPY. What I want in a contractor is someone who is on time, on budget, professional and fun to work with. Mark and his team at Tongue and Groove are all these things. We will absolutely use him for our next project!

  • My husband and hired Joe and his crew to install a wood floor in our townhouse. Joe was so prompt with service and straight forward with everything he said 800 sq of wood plus paint would take 4 days he was right! The job was done in 3 and I didn't even recognize our home! Words can't describe how blessed we are for the encounter we had with Joe-crew they were the cheapest price but I will bet it couldn't be better for a million dollars! Overly happy right now GO JOE AND CREW!!!!

  • In the end we went with another provider who also gave us a fair deal and inspired confidence in the work. I have no doubt Eli would do a superior job putting in floors however because he genuinely seems passionate about the product of wood he advises customer to use and the way he lays it aesthetically and functionally. If you are thinking about hiring him make sure to approach him early in the process because he was booked up through the fall when we talked to him in September and we would have had to wait a few months. In the end, that is why we used another provider. However, I would have no reason not to hire him or recommend him to others in the future because he seems genuinely trustworthy, honest, and proud of his craft.
Thank you for your time and interest in our project Eli-- we will definitely recommend you to friends and family!

  • This is our second time using Lakewood. They did a first floor remodel last year. This job went just as well as the first. Bob, Jim, Dave and Grant are great to work with and have in your house. They clean up at the end of each day, and make sure things were done right. The project was completed in the 2 month time frame we were given, actually almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
Bob's quote was right on, and he gave us multiple options on flooring, staircase and shower materials. We were kept up to date with weekly emails to let us know what was coming up the next week, what choices we needed to make, and gave us plenty of notice to move from one part of the upstairs to the other. They did all the heavy lifting and moved most of the things themselves. The order of the project changed as items were available early, or needed to be rescheduled, and it was always a smooth transition.
Any issues/questions that came up were discussed and we were given multiple options/recommendations to choose from. We had a non-standard size vanity in the master bath, and were having trouble finding a good match for what we wanted. Bob made custom vanities for both of our bathrooms so we could get exactly what we wanted. They came out great!
Anything that was incorrect or wasn't up to their standards was rectified. Any questions we had were answered quickly, any changes we wanted were met with enthusiasm and with options as to how we wanted them accomplished.
They also worked with a plumber we had contracted with to put in a ductless air system, so it could all be done at the same time.
Dave also has a mirror business and did a great job fixing an old family mirror we have.  A much needed improvement.
There are still a couple more smaller projects that we would like to do, and we will definitely be using them again.

  • Mark did a fantastic job, paying close attention to details, cost and our living comfort.  He was so dependable, honest and hard working.  All of his sub-contractors were top quality and always there when needed.  The total job came in under Mark's estimate.  We are in our late 70's  and our house is 49 years old and Mark made sure things were right right from the start.  A port-a-potty was put outside for contractors use, a temporary wall was installed to the back of the house where we were staying so we had privacy and to keep the dirt down. He made sure things were cleaned up every night, that we had  a way to prepare food, using a microwave set on our table.  The job entailed taking down part of a major wall between our kitchen and living room, totally gutting the kitchen; walls, cabinets, counter-tops.  A supporting beam was installed, new insulation and walls were installed, old kitchen window removed and a new one put in in a different area.  He relocated  the gas stove, putting in a new microwave with an outside fan, installing new cabinets, ripping up the old kitchen linoleum and installing hardwood, putting slate floors in the entrance areas, putting up crown molding in the living room and around the kitchen cabinets, painting walls, rewiring the entire kitchen, installing new lighting.   As he did the work and saw things that needed  to be strengthened or fixed, he did them.  Mark and his helper, Allen were always on time and worked hard all day.  Whenever questions or concerns came up they were addressed and worked out to everyone's satisfaction.  Mark was considerate of our needs and always available to answer any questions or concerns.  All the sub-contractors Mark hired were non-smokers, did not use foul language and were a joy to have in our home, including Mark himself.  Everything was completed in a timely manor.  We absolutely love our new space.  We have more work that we need done and Tongue & Grove Carpentry will be our Number One choice.  We would recommend Tongue & Groove Carpentry 100%.  He is worth waiting for to get him to do work for you.

  • It went wonderful!  You hear horror stories about these types of projects, and this couldn't have been smoother. Bob, Dave and Jim are great to work with and have in your house.  The project was completed in the 2 month time frame we were given, even with us adding multiple things to the project (more painting, new doors, etc.).
They did all the heavy lifting, and moved things around as needed.  Bob emailed us every weekend with a "where we are now, what is scheduled for next week, and what we needed to pack/move".    Things changed as items were available early, or needed to be rescheduled, and it was always a smooth transition.
We have a couple of outstanding items that will be done in a couple weeks once they arrive, but that was due to us adding them to the project towards the end.
They stayed within their original estimate.  The price of the overall project did increase, but that was due to our adding items, or selecting things that were above the estimate allowance.  In cases where we were below the allowance, the estimate decreased.
Any issues/questions that came up were discussed and we were given multiple options/recommendations to choose from.  They scheduled the plumber, electrician, cabinet delivery, etc., and things would just magically show up when needed.  Anything that was incorrect (i.e. wrong faucet was ordered by the vendor), was rectified quickly.  Any questions we had were answered quickly, any changes we wanted were met with enthusiasm and with options as to how we wanted them accomplished.
We have asked them to do an estimate for a couple of other projects, and plan to use them again when the time comes.

  • Masoud, our sales rep, was very helpful throughout the process of selecting the best products and colors to suit our needs. The laminate was installed quickly, in less than a day, and looks terrific. The carpet was the bigger part of the job. Two installers started in the morning and worked until at least 6:30 that night, but they did finish in one day! I thought it would've been better if Carpet One had sent at least one more person, but the guys they sent did an excellent job. We had very creaky sub-floors, so on Masoud's advice I bought screws and gave them to the installers to help secure the floorboards. Amazingly, they did as I asked and we now have a lot fewer creaks than we used to. Hurray!
