"Overall I am happy with the work ASP did. The salesperson was not as responsive as I had hoped and I eventually had to complain to both the delivery manager and" owner. However, after that both of them jumped right in and made everything right and ensured the service was as good as promised. I would ensure that you work with
if possible as his customer service was as good as they come.

Angie's Answers

?

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

?

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

?

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

http://www.mercuryexcelum.com/images/customer-files/Advantage.pdf

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

Good Work!
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was very professional, punctual and reasonably priced. They were able to answer all of my concerns and was always just a phone call away. There were some small details I noticed after the job was done that I asked the to have them take a second look at and the crew was back at my house within days to fix my concerns. Both

Thanks Guys!

I can't speak highly enough of Metropolitan Windows. The prices we're very competitive, the installation was quick and very well performed, and the crew was very professional. Additionally, the operations manager kept in contact with me (to let me know what to expect) previous to installation, the day of installation, and with follow-up calls after installation to make sure I was satisfied with the work.
I'll definitely be using them again as I work my way through my entire project.

Exterior Painting: The quality was BAD. First,
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
's definition of "power washing" was a special hose nossel (and not a real power washer - like the one I own). I told him he can use my power washer, and he said that was not necessarily. I should have walked right then (but he was recommended!!!). I got on the roof, looked on top of posts (coming out of the home), and other areas.... all of these areas had NO PAINT AT ALL. The paint quality on the window panes were bad and peeled within 6 months! They had to come by on multiple days and the "lead painter" didn't check the workmanship - I had to do this! Because he put HOLE in our screens, I made him rescreen the ones he damaged (and paid for the rest to be rescreened). He returns all of the screens distorted. Apparently, he pulled the mesh too tight and bowed the screens. His reply was "your screen frames are broken." After I send him pictures of the screens installed (showing the frames bowed into the center of the window),
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
said "Ill return half of your money." Exactly one year to date, no check has appeared. I spent $4k on this project and this is a big cluster mess! I WOULD NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND

Two upstairs windows were pretty much OK. Kitchen window was a nightmare. Installer refused to use expanding foam to seal against air intrusion; would only use thin wisps of fiberglass. The window construction was poor, showing an eighth-inch gap in one corner, and no evidence of insulation within. And about a week after installation, my garbage disposal stopped with a sudden THUD! The problem was a nail that had fallen into the drain from the window work.
I emailed and called the head of the company, and after several attempts, he answered me and we had a chat. He visited my home, saw the problems, shrugged his shoulders, and left. No apology, no excuses, no explanation, no offer of compensation.

Everything was perfect about this job, the only thing I would have like to be done differently is to have the joint where the downspout meets the ground to have the screws on the sides so we could easily lift it for mowing the lawn/trimming etc. If we have to bend it over time it will snap off the metal area where the screw holds the two pieces together....More /> As a customer this was one of the smoothest jobs completed by a company! He came out to color match when he was in the area. He called to give us a price and asked when he could come out to complete the job. Showed up as expected and we received a bill in the mail about a week later.
Stress free!
Thank you!

The owner,
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, and his daughter,
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, are personable and professional. They quoted us a price that was literally thousands of dollars less than the other two quotes we got.
We contracted for 6 windows, 3 double hung tall (over 6 ft) and 3 sliders (long - over 4 ft). I wanted double hung, with the tic-tac-toe grates in the windows, double screens, for the tall windows and double screens for the 3 sliders. I was able to get everything I wanted within their quote - there were no
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
costs.
The work was done professionally, and in a timely fashion once the work was begun. To be honest, there was some miscommunication between the installer (Bill) and ourselves, which delayed our installation, and I was quite upset (I didn't get notice of his late arrival, and then, Bill couldn't come that Monday, but had to return Tuesday in the afternoon).
However,
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
to the rescue. He understands my frustration and quickly moves to validate my frustration and to solve the issue. Even though the delay was caused by the installer's helper not showing up for work (still not sure if it was illness or what the issue was, but he didn't show up to help Bill so that jacked up the schedule),
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
scheduled TWO installers to come to our house to make sure the job was done in one day, and even came to our house to help Bill install the windows, and to assuage my concerns.
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was responsive to my questions and concerns about getting the job done on time (in one day). I am happy to say that the job was done in one day (at least the inside was. One other issue - WHICH WAS NOT
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
'S fault but goes to show my luck - Bill had another installer,
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked

Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
came to the rescue as well, but
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was wounded the day of my install, so
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
came to the house to help out).
All this to say, I was worried about my job getting done right and on time, frustrated about the miscommunication, but
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and Bill and
Shelburne Window Installers Provider Name Locked
(poor

I sent them a message and never heard from them. They either don't have enough staff or they don't need the work. If I'm outside of your area or there is a reason you cannot do the job, the professional thing to do is to make contact with me and explain. If you are on Angie's list you should be going to the site and checking your messages. Next...
