Each massage is 10 minutes less than you may think (50 min or 80 min) because you are given 5 min to undress at the start and 5 min to dress at the end. When you arrive you can get a warm neck wrap if you like and sit in a quiet room to await your therapist. S/he will take you to the room s/he is working in that day and ask for any specific information about your body or massage s/he may need to know. After your massage, the therapist will bring you a small cup of water and a warm face cloth as s/he waits for you to come out. S/he usually walks you out as you chat, depending on the schedule and how long it took you to get dressed, etc.

I highly recommend arriving early enough to pay, leave your tip (if you don't give it directly to the therapist), and schedule your next visit (if you're planning one) ahead of your massage so you don't need to hassle with this when you're done. Doing all of this, as well as a little time to sit and breathe, before the massage allows for better relaxation in my mind.

Since becoming a member at Massage Envy, I moved further away, making it no longer cost effective. I went back to Massage Envy after a long time away to use up my "membership benefits" that had been accruing. I'm still not quite convinced the member benefits are entirely cost effective no matter where you live in Vermont, but when you get your first massage at the discounted price, you must make a decision immediately about joining.

I was able to discuss canceling my membership with the manager before this massage (no other employee was able to have this conversation with me) and will work with Krista until the end of my "benefits" and at that time will find a massage therapist closer to home.

If you do go to Massage Envy, please realize the therapists are not paid the same amount you pay for the massage and do rely on tips above and beyond any membership fee paid to the salon (another reason for cost inefficiency). Each of the three therapists I have worked with have been great so would not hesitate to recommend them for this reason.

For anyone with disabilities it is not an accessible environment. It may be ADA compliant, but the restroom doors are very heavy and the trashcans require the ability to push a foot pedal. Only one of the outside doors is able to open due to the neon "Open" sign hanging from the hinge of the left door. There are no push buttons to access the facility or the restrooms. The waiting room would accommodate a wheelchair, but you would be sitting in the middle of the room. Some of the massage rooms I have been in would not accommodate a standard wheelchair, let alone an electric one. All of the tables are electric and could be lowered or raised to the height of a chair for an easier transfer.

Staff is always friendly, greets you with a smile, offers you a warm neck wrap, and the massage is just what I need. You can see the same therapist or see someone new at each visit if you want to try something different. I bring my own music (Ipod w/ speakers) because after a couple of visits the house tunes got a little monotonous for me. They are open 7 days a week with several late days making it easy to get into your schedule.
Billing can get a bit confusing, especially when you go for the first time. They will offer you the member's only introductory price for the first massage and then expect you to decide (just after you've had a massage) if the membership makes sense for you. You can't decide later or it's more expensive. Oh, and don't forget the tip to the therapist, because you don't pay them directly here, it's a corporate place. The therapists are paid, not enough, by the hour so also expect the patrons to show gratitude based on how well the therapist did.
With membership, you get a free 1 hour massage a month, but it only comes with the monthly credit card fee for membership, which is the same cost as the non-member price for a 1 hour massage. One benefit of membership is the monthly massages can "roll-over" as long as you are a member; so if you miss a month, you can go twice the next month.
I recommend before you go, calling to get the non-member prices (not on the web-site), decide how often you might go there and how long your massage will be. If you will only get a 1 hour (50 min) massage once a month or less, the membership may not make sense for you financially. I also recommend getting there early enough to pay, decide on membership if you're new, schedule the next visit, tip, if you know your therapist, and relax BEFORE your massage.
