Hvac Repair reviews in Milton

Todd told us he didn't think the boiler needed replacing, that it could be fixed. He gave us the name of someone else, who also called us immediately and came over the next day.  Todd was upbeat, professional, helpful, prompt, and RIGHT! The boiler did not need to be replaced. If we ever switch to gas, Todd will be who we call.

We called LaPlante Plumbing and Heating for an emergency repair to our boiler (no heat or hot water). It was out first time calling them. Fortunately, they were in the area on another job and were able to fit us in on short notice. We had multiple issues, but they were able to get us up and running fairly quickly before addressing the causes of the problems. They did a thorough cleaning of the boiler (very dirty), replaced two broken/leaking sensors and a clogged filler/back-flow valve, flushed our entire system (I saw what came out, so this really was necessary) and added clean water with a corrosion inhibitor. Since we had the entire system down anyway, we decided to have them install a new indirect hot water heater (the old one was leaking, but not badly) and disposed of the old one. They did not pressure us to do this extra work, just offered. The total cost was $3500.00 for 1 ½ full days of work. They kept us apprised of progress, showed us all their findings so we would know what had gone wrong, and left the area clean and neat. They were polite, friendly, professional, and efficient.  We were pleased with the timeliness of the response and the quality of the work. We would not hesitate to use their services again.

The install only took a day, and the piping looks nice and clean.  When they were finished they took the time to explain everything to me and they cleaned up after themselves well.  There was a small hiccup that resulted in no hot water for a couple of hours a little later on in the night, but their on-call-help was able to walk me through the settings to get it back up and running.
I ended up going with them mostly because I prefer the boiler manufacturer they use compared to other HVAC companies in the area, so much so that I was willing to pay a little more for it (even though their price was right in the same ballpark as the two other quotes I got).
I had heard nothing but good things about them and they did nothing to change my perception.

He was prompt and did a good job. It went very well and it was excellent. They gave us a good detailed estimate and the owner was quick to respond. They're also reasonably priced and they have a personal service by the owner.

We hired a local plumbing and heating professional to install a Daikin air conditioning/heating system in our home in May of 2013. The cost of the equipment and labor totalled close to $13,000. Air conditioning was perfect; when it came time to switch to supplemental heating in December, it didn't work.
After much time and inconvenience, we found an authorized Daiken repair serviceman (the installer knew nothing about repairing the system) who concluded there was a bad circuit board in the outdoor condenser.  The service provider spent several hours diagnosing the problem, then installed a new circuit board that he neglected to test.  It, too, failed.  Finally, after several visits to our home, the service provider installed a 2nd replacement circuit board which fixed the problem - imagine our surprise when we were billed for the repairs.
Long story short: we worked with the retailer (FW Webb) who agreed to pay a portion of the cost (high praise for this retailer!!). We contacted a representative from Daikin who said it was his priority to ensure our satisfaction; however he didn't deliver on that statement.  He neglected to provide the promised follow through.
We are holding a bill for $1090.45 for the installation of the 2nd replacement circuit board.  We  agreed to pay the service provider for the initial repairs (257.45) but are going to battle regarding the return trips and additional charges because the first replacement circuit board was no good.
When the Daiken system works, it's fantastic.  But if it fails, heaven help you!  There are only 2 authorized repairmen in the state of Vermont, and the one closest to us spent the entire time on the telephone with Daikin tech support.  For these reasons, I would NOT recommend the Daikin system to anyone.  There are other choices out there, and we'd suggest purchasing a product that the installer can service, and will stand behind.

We met them at a home show in the winter and when it was time to do the work, we called and scheduled the service. Jack (the owner) and his partner Chris were great. They were extremely quick in coming out for an estimate and provided an itemized estimate for the service performed. They were quick with the installation, finishing it in less than a day. Now I have a brand new tankless system and clean and efficient gas boiler too.
When it's time for it, I will likely have them come back to service my non-working gas fireplace.

Chris arrived on time and completed the job in under two hours.  Part of the job required draining approx 100 gals of antifreeze from the furnace, installing additional copper pipe, installing a circulator pump and refilling the the antifreeze.  Excellent job.  I intend to use this contractor for all of my plumbing and heating needs.

They come once every 2 years to clean the burner and the furnace. They are very honest and straight forward company. Their service was quick and I never had any problems with billing. They were reasonably priced and it was a very good company to work with. The technician was here within 45 minutes as he stays in the neighborhood itself. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

As I said above, we had no hot water and as new homeowner's we weren't exactly sure what to do. We called the after-hours line at Pyrofax and received a phone call from a tech within 15 minutes. The tech told us that he wouldn't know how to fix it without seeing our specific furnace/boiler combo and he was an hour away so because this wasn't an emergency we should wait until morning and call back. In the morning, I call right at 8 AM and got no answer. I called again at 8:15 and still received the after hours message although it listed 8 AM as the open time on their website. I waited until 8:30 and called again but was connected to a voicemail message. It was Friday so I had to take the morning off of work to get this resolved before the weekend. We had family members visiting for the weekend so we needed the hot water.

After no response at 9 AM, I emailed a staff member who had helped me set up the account and explained the issue. She called me and told me they would get someone sent out. The tech had a full morning but they were going to try to fit us in. They weren't sure when he would get there but he would definitely come. Around 10 AM the tech showed up. He went down to our basement and looked at the furnace. He took a few wires out and put them back and then pushed in a box and the furnace came back to life. He was in front of my furnace for no more than 2 minutes before seeing the problem and pushing in the box. We spoke for a minute about how my husband and I used to live in a condo so we were not used to looking after a furnace. He was at my house for about 5 minutes.

The next week, I received a bill of around $102. $70 was charged for a "trip/diagnostic fee" and then there was a $32 "minor repair fee." My husband and I had no problem paying the $70 because the tech did make the trip out to our house but there were no materials used for the repair and the tech was only in our home for a matter of minutes. I called Pyrofax to explain that we did not feel the $32 charge was appropriate. I was told it was a minimum charge for a repair. I asked if this was a minimum charge, why it was not included in the visit/diagnostic fee and the rep told me that she did not know. She connected me to the General Manager's voicemail and I left him a message explaining our confusion for the $32 charge. I did not receive a phone call back for 2 days so I called again and was again put through to the General Manager's voicemail. Again I did not receive a phone call back. I never received a phone call back and was very disappointed with the way I was brushed off. I do not feel we should have been charged $32 for a box to be pushed in within 2 minutes of entering my home. I would assume that a trip/diagnostic fee is what covers the gas as well as the tech's hourly rate so I do not understand the $32 charge if no materials were used.  I did pay the bill as I work in lending and know that they could file a collection and charge outrageous late fees for non-payment.

Once our year budget contract is over, we will be switching propane companies.

Everyone I called wanted to charge me a trip charge. Coolidge's total charge was $115.00, which was about what some companies wanted to just show up. They were very professional and friendly. I have since referred co-workers to this company, and they have received great service also.
