Home Builder reviews in Milton

I'd dealt with Kyle Haggerty on small jobs before and was happy, however, when confronted with a job as extensive as an addition of one room and a bath, there are things that you need to be aware of going into the project. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THIS. Obtain a fully detailed quote and have it signed by both parties. ALL expectations need to be put into writing in as much detail as possible. He’s going to fight you on this and claim that no builder breaks it down so much or that he’s giving you such a discount that it doesn’t allow time for this and he’s too busy to do your invoice that accurately. If you don’t get this, he will do your project as HE envisions it and any talk that you have about the most minor detail, he’ll charge you an unreal fee on it and add a $250 “change order fee” on top of that. Without a detailed contract he will continually accuse you of changing the job and add the previously mentioned fees. Be sure he covers everything affected by your project. In my experience he did not catch that the present electrical panel would not handle the additional load and needed to be entirely torn out and replaced (at your expense of course). In my case I needed to upgrade to a 200 Amp panel after we learned the current 100 Amp panel was not big enough. In addition, the furnace was not adequate to support the addition in any way. There simply was not a zone to use. An “on demand” water heating system was necessary to free up a zone allowing for the furnace to heat the addition. As before, at your expense. Be prepared for a deplorable work ethic. His single employee showed up at approximately 0900, takes an hour lunch between 1100 and 1300 and will be gone for the day at 1600. Kyle would show up between 1100 and 1300 and take lunch with his employee and then he too would be gone by 1600. Yet when I questioned this, asking for both a completion date and mentioning that for him to complete the job he needed to be working for us exclusively. He informed us that 1) he was most certainly not working solely for us at this point in time. This conversation occurred in August where 2) he informed us that no contractor would ever commit to a completion date. He could tell us he would be complete by September 7th, but he would ask for 50% more funds be tacked on to the bill with no explanation why? At this point Mr. Haggerty has 90% of the funding and according to every contractor whose been to the house to bid on the job since he refused to return; have stated it would be difficult to say that 50% of the work was done. Currently the following has yet to be completed or in many cases, even started. Plumbing, electric, insulation, drywall, taping, mudding and sanding, tile work, grouting, all fixtures to include shower, toilet and bath, light fixtures, priming, painting, hardwood floors, connecting the room to the house at all (it’s still an exterior wall), doors and none of the trim work has been completed, porch off west side is incomplete. There is also to be a “three season room” off the rear of the house that is a part of this project. Thus far there is no electric run, no walls put up, no screens or siding. The fans have not been installed and without walls there certainly are no doors. This man called this job 90% complete in response to being contacted by the Consumer Protection Agency. He walked off our site with his tail tucked between his legs knowing he’d just screwed a disabled vet. He will make any allegation to divert attention away from his total lack of professionalism and maturity. He has told the BBB that I am not a disabled veteran and never have been. He claims every contractor we’ve ever had have also abandoned the job. He is currently guilty of slander and defamation of character by making ludicrous comments that are based on his inaccurate postulation.
