  • Reliant Electric serviced my Generac backup generator when it started running continuously even when grid power was working. Nate spent about an hour on a snowy day diagnosing the problem which turned out not to be the “usual” cause, a blown fuse. In the end, he determined that there was a short in the underground control wire but recommended that we wait at least a month for any frozen water in the conduit to thaw before fishing a new wire. He set the generator up so I could start it manually in case of an outage. He returned about six weeks later when the ground was thoroughly thawed and replaced the wire. Sure enough, the old wire had been damaged probably from years of sitting in water and freeze/thaw cycles. He replaced it with a heavier gauge wire and gave me some suggestions for drilling a drain hole in the conduit. He tested the generator to make sure it would start in a power outage and also checked the plugs and valve clearance while he was there just to be certain everything was in good shape. Nate was neat, friendly, informative, completely professional, and most importantly, highly skilled. Reliant is a bit pricey, but for this type of work it pays to have someone with years of experience who was able to diagnose the problem correctly and fix it right the first time.

  • Steve and Nick are awesome. They are very professional and I highly recommend them to do any electrical work. I did get a couple of quotes before having the work done and Steve's fees were very fair. Steve provided a free estimate and was quick to respond when coordinating a day to have the work done. Steve and Nick were very punctual on the days they did the work. I asked them to call when on the way so I could have our dog under control when they came into the house which they did.
    Steve made sure to leave all electrical on when he could so we could still use everything in the house. It was a two day project so Steve made sure that over night all electrical in the house was working. During the project my wife and I came up with other items we would like to have done and between Steve and Nick they were able to complete a lot of our requests in the time they were at our house. The great part about it, Steve did not have huge add on fees to get the extra work done. He charged us an hourly rate + his costs for the parts he used. His billing was straight forward and easy to understand. I tried to offer them something to drink or eat because they were at our house for 8 hours the first day. They politely said no because they brought everything they needed with them. When it was time for them to eat lunch they did it while looking over the work and deciding what the next step to take should be and quickly got back to work. Again, I highly recommend Steve and Nick for all of your electrical work.

  • The Milton Electrical electrician arrived on schedule the very next day and installed two outlets in about an hour or so, in a professional manner and cleaned up any mess from drilling into plaster, etc. We were completely satisfied and would use this electrical service again.

  • He did not do the work correctly. The pump kept running constantly because he did not have it wired properly. The electric bill went up to over $600.00. I called him to let him know about it and he was not very responsive saying that he would not be out a couple of days. I told him this was not acceptable since the pump could burn out. I also evaluated the work he did in the attic and it was not done correctly either. The wires were just draped on the rafters and were not very organized. He would say he would come out on a certain date but wouldn't show up until a couple of days later. I ultimately had to find another electrician to fix the work. I have not heard from him since.

  • The light in my living room has not been working for about two weeks now. I checked Angie's List for someone reliable and read great reviews so I was very surprised at what I experienced. I found Melody Electric on a Sunday afternoon so I sent a message through their website to find out how much they charged for services. I received a prompt response from Sally, the office manager, regarding their fees and asked to schedule an appointment. My husband and I both work 9-5 jobs and have a commute so I told her we would not be available from 8-6, which is a difficult schedule for any one to work around. The earliest that they could schedule was the following week on Tuesday at 6 PM. Two days later she contacted me to change the date to either Wednesday or Thursday evening. I told her that either would be fine. The next day she called to ask if they could change the appointment to Thursday at 7:30 AM. I normally leave for work around 7:45 so I told her I had to check with my boss about taking a couple hours off in the morning for this appointment. I called her back within 2 hours and told her I was able to take the time and she scheduled the appointment.
    This morning, I was ready to go at 7:30. By 7:45, no one had shown up and from the reviews that I had read here, it seemed strange so I called the number on their website. It was an after-hours service so they said they would send a message out and I should hear back from someone. Just before 8 AM, I received a phone call from an electrician (whose name I cannot remember) stating that he had forgotten the appointment because he was covering the office and worked late the night before. He apologized and asked if I would be available in a few hours. I told him that I had taken a couple of hours off work and could not stay home all day so I would not be home until around 5:45 PM. He said that he had to check a calendar and asked if they could send someone tomorrow morning. I cannot take time off with one day notice so I said that would not work for me. He said that he would come out at 5:45 this evening. I cancelled my plans for after work and was home at 5:30. When no one was there by 6:05, I called to cancel the appointment and services. Again, it was the after hours service so they said they would send out a message immediately. At 6:10, the electrician showed up and I told him that we had just called to cancel. He asked "Why?" and I explained that he was supposed to be there at 5:45 and was 25 minutes late. His response was "You are going to cancel because of that?" I started to explain that he was supposed to be at my home at 7:30 that morning and he cut me off saying "I apologized for that." So I calmly said "We don't need your services anymore." He asked who would fix the electrical and I said I would find someone else to do the job. He said I was being ridiculous but he wouldn't waste his time arguing with me then stormed back to his truck.
    I am not sure where this man learned his customer service skills but if I was at fault 2 times in one day, I would not tell a customer that they were ridiculous and storm off like a child. If I had not called in the morning, I am not sure he would have called to re-schedule or apologize. I think at a minimum, he could have called in the evening when he was running late (by 25 minutes).
