We are thrilled with our newly repaired house! Kevin handled a variety of serious water damage problems efficiently, while communicating and listening well. We expected to lose our front deck, which had been improperly attached, but all that is fixed and ready to use. Kevin also built us a nice back porch. The big deal is that our house, which had been taking on unseen water damage for years, is now safe and secure. We are very happy with Kevin's work and I will definitely call him if I ever need more work done.

Michael Jordan and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. They are a hard-working, flexible, and professional bunch of guys with a good attitude, work ethic, and sense of humor. Once the job started, they worked every day until it was done (except the weekend). Michael is extremely detail oriented and meticulous in his work, and he did little extras like adding sills for the windows and reinstalling and fixing the disappearing attic ladder that had not been installed properly. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results, and we plan to call him again when we have our great room and hallway repainted.

    Alden Painting
The work went quickly and as noted above it all turned out perfect. This house is a family house and I managed the work with Alden Painting remotely. This needed close communication and Mr. Alden regular sent me digital photos of the work and between these and phone calls we were able to make effective decisions and this saved me a couple long drives.

We moved into our present home in Bennington, Vermont, exactly one year ago. We quickly discovered that the house was in great need of repair. We hired a contractor and got to work removing moldy walls in the garage. That contractor recommended that we continue with James Potter Construction, as Mr. Potter had more time available and it was clear that we would have many tasks. Mr. Potter responded immediately and we planned a new kitchen, including removal of old linoleum and installation of new bamboo wood floors. We wanted to use local merchants and Mr. Potter was extremely helpful in helping us find the best source for kitchen cabinets. He and his team designed and installed a great new kitchen, complete with a ceramic tile backsplash, new plumbing, and partially customized cabinets. He also made useful suggestions and modifications with an eye to our needs. He supervised the installation of composite counter tops and sink and when the new sink developed flaws, he negotiated with the supplier and the manufacturer to insure that repairs were made promptly and completely. By the way, Mr. Potter and crew work very amiably with the painters. Next came windows... we live in a cold climate and several windows had obvious seal failure. We determined to replace all windows and Mr. Potter and his team undertook that job. Once again he was instrumental in locating the best quality replacements at a reasonable price. By now we feel we know the men who work on various jobs and enjoy having them in our home. They are all very competent, careful, polite, friendly, and never leave a mess. The work has continued. At present Mr. Potter is installing a new ceiling fixture in the dining room, including rewiring. Further work includes more wood flooring on the bedroom (3rd) level of our home, walls that need to be repaired, replacement of a support beam on the front steps, and remodeling a bookcase/cabinet installation in the living room to create a television/fireplace setting. Mr. Potter is already at work scouting prices and materials. I'm sure I'm missing some of the chores that he undertook over the past months. He has been simply invaluable to us as a local resource, and a reliable, professional and extremely competent workman. We would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs competent construction.

They are fantastic. They are nice quick and honest I had no qualms about leaving them alone in my house. They were so nice to my animals.

    Joined Builders
From the start working with Mike at Joined Builders was great.  He called and we discussed the project then he came out and met with us to see the space and learn more about what we wanted.  He provided us an estimate which was a little higher than some of the others we received but we  decided to go with his team because of the professionalism and recommendations from others.  He gave us a timeline and the team kept to that timeline.  They were very nice all the time and kept to a schedule which allowed us to remain living in the house.  We would highly recommend Mike and his team to our friends and neighbors.

    Clar Construction Inc
The customer service and customer relations were excellent--all subcontractors were expertly supervised and he kept us informed daily of the work plan for that day. He spent many hours with us planning the work, advising us on our options, giving us examples, catalogs, and sketches, and even went with the homeowners to locate custom details and advise us on price points. Time was important, and we discussed at length how to manage the project in terms of new appliance delivery, material storage, and many other details that helped us make the job go smoothly. The job ran about six working days longer than expected, but it was very complex and there were some surprises because the house is quite old. For such a large project, it went very smoothly and the misery of not having a working kitchen was offset by feeling that we were his partners in getting the project done. Before we approached Dan with this job, we had used him on several smaller projects--a bath remodel, some needed structural work, and a sensitive porch restoration. The bath rehab turned out exceptionally well, and the finish work exceeded our expectations. The two structural projects were completed on time and on budget, despite one of the projects being foundation work done in the Vermont winter. Also, Dan is able to do historic-preservation level carpentry, and he produced a new, structurally sound porch on our historic house that was so closely matched to the original that we joked that we'd spent $9000 to get the exact same thing we started with. Many of the decorative elements--balusters, bracketing, and railings--were custom made by him to exactly match the originals. I would recommend Clar Construction for any job of any size, but especially for projects that have a preservation element and for any older home that may bring some unanticipated events or discoveries. He is also a fine craftsman who takes pride in his work and treats his subcontractors well, so that they stay with him and work harmoniously with clients. He also brings a refined aesthetic sense to the table, and we would often defer to his judgment about design decisions; he understands architectural history and has real respect for older buildings and what those building do to enrich the community.

    Green Mountain Houseworks
We have computer server racks of various sizes that we install expensive servers into.  These loaded racks need to be transported by Fedex Custom Critical White Glove Service from our company location in Vermont to various sites across the country.  We had a need to keep the racks safe from damage while making them easy to transport and move.  Once the racks arrive at our customer sites, they would need to be easily uncrated and moved within the building with no special equipment. Green Mountain Houseworks designed a crate that incorporated a pallet-fork compatible base.  The front of the crate, when opened, also served as a solid and stable ramp so that the server rack could be wheeled into the crate.  After securing the rack to the base of the crate, the front and rear walls of the crate could then be bolted closed and the entire crate was then solid, stable, and completely protected the expensive contents. Each time we ship these server racks, Green Mountain Houseworks verifies the measurements that we give them, and then within a short time they deliver the crates to our shipping dock, fully ready for loading and shipping.
