In September of 2012 I hired a "contractor" to turn a 400sf shed into a pool house/guest house. This guy told me it would be a 6-8 week job. 8 1/2 months later and he had gone through $58,000 of the $60,000 agreed on price. I never met a guy with so many excuses. So I fired the guy and then decided to join Angie's List. That was the 2nd best $15 I ever spent. The best $15,000 I ever spent was hiring Thomas Koch to complete the project. I called him on a Monday and he met me on Tuesday to look at the job and give me a price. He told me he thought the job would take 8 days to complete. They started the following Monday and hit it hard with 2 guys doing construction, 3 electricians and 2 plumbers. The plumbers and 2 electricians were done after day 1. The other days he had 4 workers on the job and 1 electrician for most of it. These guys worked from 8:30am until 5-5:30pm. And true to Thomas' word, they were finished in 8 days. The work included:  painting the entire interior and ceiling, installing blinds on 5 windows, tiling the huge shower stall and the other parts of the floor that was unfinished, installing a huge glass backsplash in the kitchen, painting kitchen cabinets and installing handles, building and installing a huge Murphy bed, multiple pot lights, repairing an outside brick deck, installing various doors and a pocket door, building storage shelves, fence repair, installing ceiling fan and so much more. The workers were professional and very conscientious and cleaned up their messes every day. Our place looks great and we could not be more satisfied.

He was wonderful. By the time that we talked about everything I needed done, it was much bigger, and he just couldn’t do the work that was needed. He was a very nice man, though.

    Brickliners Chimney Service
I searched for two months to find someone to repair my Mom's fireplace.  I must have contacted at least 15 places.  I was told it couldn't be repaired, I needed an insert the cost was around $4000 to repair it.   I called Brickliners they knew exactly what I was talking about and had a tech out in a few days.  When he gave me the quote I was in disbelief but scheduled it.  Justin came out and did an amazing job.

The job was messy, brick mortar, and a hole in my wall but the contractor did much to keep the mess to a minimum. Always asking for my feedback to make sure he was doing what I wanted and making the finished product as I imagined.

These guys do beautiful work. Their brickwork and ability to design and build the trash/recycling storage unit were amazing. They have a very good eye for detail and are really perfectionist. They made great suggestions about plants too. After they finished the job we had one problem with a spot where the garden dirt washed out to the sidewalk during rain storms. They came back this spring to fix it. These guys are the best.

    ARNOLD & ARNOLD MASONRY
We had a good referral from a friend, so hired the Arnolds to replace our chimney.  Ray and Donna arrived like clockwork every morning at 7:30 am and worked the entire day till the job was done.   Ray did most of the actual construction and Donna worked very hard to get him what he needed at a moment's notice, which among many things  included mixing mortar and hauling bricks.  Throughout the job it was obvious that detail was very important to both of them.  They asked us for our input throughout and gave us advice on taking down a large pine tree which they felt was hindering air circulation to the chimney bricks.  It was September when this work was going on and a couple of nights it got a bit chilly.  We were unable to turn our furnace on because of the chimney construction.  Donna called us after hours and asked if we  were warm enough and offered to bring a space heater.  They finished on schedule and were meticulous in cleaning the area before they left.  They came in the summer of 2012 to seal the bricks as they said they would.  If I were to rate them on a scale of 1-10, 10 being outstanding, it would have to be a 10 for workmanship, professionalism, courtesy, friendliness and  caring.  Ten is a hard number to earn from me and they deserved nothing less.

    Vision Builders
We own an old Historic farmhouse in Rutland Vermont area, it was built in the early 1800's. The house needed a lot of exterior work to be completed before winter. We have had some very bad experiences with other contractors in this area; I have to say that Vision builders were a breath of fresh air. 1st, they were the only contractor who gave us a full itemized quote with a summary of all the materials required for each project along with associated pricing and accurate time frames to complete each item. They completed the work on time as quoted no delays, excuses or problems. Eric worked with us each day reviewing the progress and apprising us of any problems verbally and in writing so there were no surprises at the end. 2nd, Eric's crew of workers were always on time, polite and considerate of our plants, shrubs and other sensitive area's, they covered everything with drop cloths and cleaned up as each project was completed. You couldn't even tell anyone had done any work around the house they were that meticulous. 3rd, Eric came in at the price he quoted us with no $$$ surprises at the end. We will continue to use Vision builders for all future projects and have recommended them to many friends and acquaintances.
