    Preferred Oil & Propane Service
Exceeded all expectations. Dennis and his helper were amazing. Kept us informed when special order parts would arrive. Absolutely one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor.. In a Five Star ranking system I would give Preferred Oil & Propane Service at least 7 Stars.

Amazing! Chris and his crew did an amazing job with budget, quality, and managing the job. They are extremely organized and they do quality work. I plan on hiring them again for future houses and projects and maybe even new builds. Thank you Chris and your crew!

They were polite and very clean. They even wore booties over their shoes while they were working. The job took all day but they provided us with good service. All of the work was done efficiently.

If you’re considering using Jamie Engleburt, please… read this first- then keep on looking. We called Jamie to fix a broken PVC pipe and a disconnected air duct on March 2nd, and he just couldn’t do enough for us in the texts and correspondence prior to the 20 minutes he spent here addressing what he was called here to do. Then when it became apparent that the PVC he replaced was ridiculously taller than it needed to be (next Christmas I’m going to put lights on it, it literally looks like a 3 1/2 foot candy cane), and that he hadn’t actually reattached the air duct at all, I very politely asked him to come back, and he agreed to do so. Ironically, that’s just when his car went in the shop, and he ended up working over-nights and generally wasn’t all that available. I looked in the crawlspace yesterday, and now there’s water near the furnace that wasn’t there before. I’m not accusing Jamie of having anything to do with that, but I’ll never know. Now today, he was due here 15 minutes ago, but when I texted, then called just to confirm, he never responded. So nooo, Jamie isn’t coming back, and although he is all sunshine and smiles until the ink dries on your check, he is also the one person in the 150 reeeally nice ones you meet- that painfully reminds you of why you’re becoming so jaded. Yup! It’s my own fault for trusting someone who presents himself to be someone he’s not, and for not checking up on what he actually did and didn’t do before he left. And while everyone makes mistakes, messes things up or just has a bad day, the difference here is- taking $350 you KNOW you didn’t earn means you have very little in the way of a conscience. It means you took complete advantage of a situation, and made a conscious decision to stick the consequences of you’re bad day onto someone else who made the now obvious mistake of trusting you. Good luck in your new business Jamie. May the trail of karma you leave behind you come right back to you and leave you with all the warmth our encounter has left me. And may your daughter take after her mother.

    Preferred Oil & Propane Service
They are excellent!! When I call to make an appointment, the lady on the phone is very friendly, helpful. I am a new customer . A friend gave me their number.. I go an appointment that worked for me. The technician was knowledgeable, friendly, fast, efficient. He did all the cleaning and repairs needed to maintain my furnace for another winter. I plan to have them service my furnace forever from now on! The price was also reasonable.

The system that I have was very old, they now make something called airsource heat pump which is a small unit that fits on the side of the house. They are really nice people I dont live in that area anymore so I wouldn't use them again.

Steve arrived at 8:05 AM to do the summer check up on the units which included clearing drainage pipes, topping off the gas for the units and a general check of the systems. Two were okay but the third one had a problem with the coil. He filled the unit with gas and told me the problems/cost/etc. of doing a proper repair. Although the cost of the repair is not cheap ($2700) I have had this same problem with the other two units which were never installed properly and the coils are not particularly good so it does not surprise me. I will be calling them in a couple of weeks to do the repair work. He did not charge me for $120 of gas. Prompt and courteous.

    Preferred Oil & Propane Service
Amazing!!! He absolutely saved me and my family. I was in real trouble trying to get my heater repaired, originally using another local company that kept adding repairs and $$$$. I have a disabled daughter and lost my son this year too so it has been very stressful. Dennis fixed my entire heater and even custom built a gas line cover for the outside all for FREE!!!!! What a blessing!!! I experienced such kindness and professionalism. I would highly recommend this company for anyone looking for help with their heating needs.

I live in Alaska and was trying to sell my house in VT which is a big task when you do everything by email and over the phone. A home inspection revealed that all three heaters in the house needed replacement and the current ones were red tagged and shut off. So with no heat and it being October with a pending sale I needed heaters installed ASAP. Myself and my relator called and emailed people to no avail. I contacted a House Needs in Waitsfield VT to see if they installed the items they sold and they didn't but they recommended Dennis Smith at Preferred oil and propane. I sent them an email and on the next business day I got a call told them my problem and they said they would take a look by the end of the week. I gave them the combo to my house and a few hours later I got a call back and he had already been there and explained to me what the job would entail and what types of stoves he could install with the space available. He new the price and labor costs on 2 and got back to me a couple hours later with the information on the 3rd. We agreed on a price I made a deposit and he ordered the stoves. He started the job 3 days early and finished before the original start date. He sent me photos of the work done and advised that he would meet with the new home owners to explain how to operate the units. I was so thankful to have this work done in a timely and reasonably price fashion. I would highly recommend Preferred oil and propane for any heating needs. the customer service was amazing. Every time I sent an email it was promptly answered.

Terri, the lady who answers the phone, was fantastic. Her kind personality made me feel like I was really being listened to, and she called me with updates so I never worried that they'd forgotten about me. The price on both days was higher than I expected, but maybe this reflects my lack of knowledge about how much these services actually cost more than anything.
