AGifford ConstructionSeth and his crew did a wonderful job with all the projects we had. Everything was top notch from start to finish. Seth provided us with a very competitive estimate, which he provided us within just a few days after he stopped by to look at the scope of our projects. The estimations were detailed and easy to understand, and he was available to answer all the questions we had right away. The building of the deck and porch took over a month, but the crew was very tidy and cleaned up the construction site every evening before they left, so their tools and the building materials were not in our way at all. Just like with any construction or renovation project, unexpected things came up and when they did Seth and Lu listened carefully to us and came up with cost efficient solutions that we were very happy with. Overall, everything was done within our budget and our timeline, we would absolutely recommend them and use them again next time.- Irina N.

AS D NewkirkDeciding to bite the bullet and remodel the entire first floor of my home, I knew I needed to use a professional who understood it was the home I grew up in and that it would be an emotional renovation. Steve had redone a bathroom for me previously, so after an initial consultation on this huge project, I knew he was the one for the job. I've never been happier with the quality of work, communication, and friendliness that Steve provided from start to finish. The work encompassed a lot...brand new kitchen, 1st floor bathroom, foyer, dining room, living room, fireplace, front porch, and stairs. Yes, a lot of work, especially considering the layout was changed by removing a wall and pretty much everything was gutted down to the studs. It's tough to describe all the work he did without seeing it, but he installed brand new cabinets, bathroom vanity/sink, appliances, tile and bamboo floors, new doors including front entry door, new stone on the porch surrounding the door, new columns on the porch, and even custom-made moldings throughout. The best part of hiring Steve to do the work was that he's not only a skilled builder, but he has a fantastic design sense. He made suggestions along the way about different directions we could go for some of the details, and every single person who has walked into my house since the work has literally said "wow". Any contractor can build what you want them to build, but the small details and refusal to stop short of perfection make Steve an extremely rare find. If you don't hire Steve for your project, you're short-changing yourself in a BIG way!- John T.

AAddison Building And RemodelingJim has done many projects for me-- both large and small-- over the years. He is prompt, reliable, very skilled, FAST, honest, neat, intelligent and thoughtful in his work, cheerful, courteous, and reasonably priced. He arrives at the job very focused, and because he is so experienced he gets the job done quickly, which means that I actually save money over using less focused, or less experienced carpenters (who might charge less per hour but end up costing more). AWooden HammerBen arrived on-time (and sometimes early) and worked all day, cleaning up after each day and hauling debris from the project. He even saved me a few hundred dollars when I'd ordered (and paid for) the wrong lumber for the flooring! By adding the skylights and the cedar ceiling, and, later having the outside house wall paneled to match the cedar of the porch, the total cost was a couple thousand more than the estimate, but we had expected that given all the changes to the design. We are very pleased with the cost and his expertise. Ben was amazing and the porch is wonderful. Our friends are envious.- Gail C.

AWooden HammerIt was great. We were on a pretty tight budget and really weren't sure what exactly we were going to do. Ben came in with a quote that was about 10,000$ higher than we had anticipated and when we told him he really worked with us to bring it closer to our range without compromising the quality of the job. He also came with great ideas-we really didn't have anything specific-he was really helpful in our decision making. The other 4 people we had come out for an estimate didn't really come with any ideas, just asked what we wanted and didn't seem to have the initiative or creativity to work with us to come up with something. He was really great and we would definitely go to him first with any other work we want done on the house.- Lisa E.

AWooden HammerBen is amazing! I found his name on Angie's List and he came soon after I called to see what we wanted done. There was still snow on the deck! When he came back to start building, he met with a civil engineer we know to discuss the structure holding up the existing deck (about 10' off the ground) and ended up reinforcing it so it could hold walls and a roof. We bought 6 skylights and he put them in for us. When I paid for flooring he said I didn't need that kind and returned it to the lumber yard and bought the correct kind - saving me about $200. When he was done with the structure and flooring, he returned to put wooden siding against the house where the vinyl siding had been, but first I had him sign the wall underneath. AThis was the most money we have ever paid anyone to do anything...ever. The Sheridans had our trust throughout the entire process. They gave an affordable quote and did awesome work. They cleaned up during each stage of the project and always communicated well with me about timing and issues that came up. Our garage dimensions were awkward and not a perfect rectangle by any means - these guys had to craft a kit of workarounds for irregular shapes and curves. Todd and Luke are good human beings with positive attitudes, and care about their integrity and their work. I hope to use them in the future.
