FIt was the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Al tool over $5,000 and did not perform the work of the contract. He was awful to deal with and was hospitalized several times through the 2-3 week period. He brought illegal drugs onto my property and he did not perform the work, as contacted.- Mary A.

AI couldn't be more pleased with Ed's work. He's an old-school guy, nearly 40 years of experience, and it shows in his business practice and his craft.
First of all: old school business. Ed doesn't have a cell phone or email. He has an answering service take messages and he returns them in the evening. He returned my message on the same day, and it turns out he was available to come by the following morning to give an estimate. He measured the roof, did a few quick calculations, and gave me a written estimate - in this case a dollar figure on the back of his business card. He understood my goal of putting solar panels on that roof and made recommendations for the best approach to avoid problems down the road. His quote was on par with another quote I received and well below a third quote. (One of the other roofers I spoke with said, "you'll be pleased with Ed's work." It's a two-man team, Ed and his son-in-law Mark, and overhead appears to be low. When I accepted his bid, he came by with a one-page three-part form to fill in the deals for the contract. Ed doesn't take credit cards, and asks for 50% payment via check up front and the remainder upon completion.
Second: old school craft. Ed and Mark hand-nail everything because they have more control than with air-nailers - less potential damage to the roof. Because our garage is right on the property line, he made sure to talk to our neighbor about old shingles ending up on their property, and got permission to put down a tarp. Ours was a small job - estimated at a day and a half, but completed in a day. Because they finished their previous job halfway through the day, they started mine the afternoon before I expected them. Everything was cleaned up and all waste hauled away at the end of the day. I wouldn't have known they had been there if there weren't packages of new shingles next to the garage when I got home.
They finished midway through day 2 - again, by the time I got home everything was spotless. He again checked in with the neighbor to make sure they were satisfied with his cleanup. The roof looks great. Ed stuck to his quote, he and Mark were extremely polite and respectful, super efficient. Just a pleasure to do business with. They even helped jump start my car when the battery died overnight. I highly recommend!

ATim was quick to respond to a quote request, and the cost was very competitive with other providers. I ultimately booked another contractor because Tim's schedule is booked several months out and did not meet my needs.

AEd and his crew are amazing. They hand-hammered the entire roof (no air nailers) so they were sure it was done right. Our house is very difficult to roof because of the steep pitch and it being extremely high off the ground on the downhill side. Ed and his crew worked safely, quickly, and cleanly, and we've been very happy with the roof since. His rates were also the most reasonable of all the people who bid on it, so we felt we got the best quality for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

AThey came with good recommendations from a number of acquaintances. The company was very helpful...sent us samples of the metal roofing and gave us several local addresses that had the same roof colors that we were considering. It took about 6 weeks from time of order to installation as we booked late in the season and they were backed up. When they arrived for the install it was completed in about a day and a half and looked great when finished. My only negatives were that they were slow to acknowledge email questions and we found quite a few metal scrap clippings on the ground after they left -- These could have caused some issued for our pets and grand kids. The negatives were minor and the important part was the end result looks fantastic - the best looking roof on the road.- Tom C.

FRoof job warranty 5 years. Rest of house 8 years. Following spring I noticed paint pealing from the metal roof.Called J Howard. He came to the house and said he would the entire roof again. Never came back. I sued J Howard on the Small Claim Court. He did not show up in Court. No way to be found. I had to redo the metal roof on my own.Roof job cost me an additional sum of $ 2,625.00.- Angelo C.

AThe contractor responded within hours to come by my home and provide an estimate. He then left relevant materials for me to review to decide on the color of the new gutters. I called back, he set a date, and even though I was out of town I trusted him to follow through. When I returned from out of town, the gutters were in place and they were beautiful. It's rare to get more than what you thought you would get, but I did. The gutters blended perfectly with the house exterior color, and the work was flawless. Just could not be happier with the overall service by the provider.

AExcellent service from initial contact to completion. Jason came the day I left a phone message, wrote his estimate, and sent it to me promptly. We set up the appointment for two weeks out, and he did the work even though I was not home. I trusted him to do what he said he would and was totally satisfied with his work and the quality of the gutters. In short, I now have beautiful gutters that blend into the paint scheme of the house.

AWe used this company several times over few years, and Nate always demonstrated extensive knowledge in all aspects of home building, we always received fast response, several options in pricing, which was very competitive. Nate and his crew are always reliable, honest, accurate and they do beautiful work and repairs that last.- Olena N.

AWe hired Mark after we moved into a new house that was build in 1880 and needed some basic work with rebuilding outdoor stairs, replacing attic window, painting, shutter repair and painting and wall insulation of basement. He started the work and completed things as he was able. Not everything got done right away but the things that were necessary did. We will continue with him to complete outdoor painting next Spring and liked and trusted him. His prices were fair and his referrals for work he couldn't do were helpful.
