Great ! The 2 workers arrived when they said they would, explained some details of what they would be doing, did it, and then took the old windows away in a well-planned cleanup operation.

Black Ox Standing Seam Roofing Inc
Initial discussions were conducted with Tom via e-mail and text. He was careful to answer all my questions fully and gave convincing explanations that were clearly based on significant experience. He was also thorough in describing potential sticking points ahead of time - e.g., they wouldn't reinstall the gutters and there was a potential for inadvertent scraping of the deck (didn't happen ultimately). The work was performed on the discussed schedule and to a high professional standard. Large and small details were performed exactly in line with the expectations we'd agreed on. Upon removing the old shingles, some damage was found in the underlying roof deck. Black Ox came up with a suitable remedy (neither a band-aid nor a "gold plated" solution). This additional work was performed for an extremely reasonable price and explained in detail. Overall I'm very happy with the new roof and have every reason to expect it to last a very long time. The Black Ox crew were courteous and professional, and I'd certainly recommend them.

It looks great. No issues 6 months out. Tom answered all the questions I had during the process via email or phone. We had a unique situation that he came up with a unique response to which I liked. He was thoughtful in his answers and did a good job explaining things to me (I am not very educated about roofs).

    PRUDENTIAL REMODELING
My girlfriend and I bought a house about a year ago, and believe me it?s a fixer upper. Between work and fixing the house I felt a little over extended. That?s when my girlfriend found Prudential Remodeling. I wouldn?t have been able to fix my house as much as I have without Prudential. They helped me remodel my kitchen, roof my home, put hardwood floors in my living room, install new windows, and fix my disaster of a bathroom. (Seriously, it was bad.) They helped me complete all these tasks while also not undermining me and including me in on the projects. I am so grateful for all Kevin and Joe?s help. And my girlfriend is REALLY happy. They definitely kept me out of the dog house. I wouldn?t think of using any other company.

We're extremely pleased with Glenn's work and his professional attitude. Having worked as a carpenter, he was able to make useful suggestions about how to improve the structure.

    Richards Construction Inc
The experience with Richards Construction Inc. went fine. I gave them some money, then they had to order windows. It took like three weeks for the windows to come in, then they installed them and everything was fine. This was a company recommended by my neighbor. I live in New Hampshire so I never met the man, but everything went well. The prices were considerably lower than several other window estimates.

    Windows and Doors by Brownell
We had all new casement windows installed into our Quechee Townhouse.  There was a total of 12 casements plus the slider to the porch.  We went with the Marvin Integrity line. Our master bedroom had a window and a sliding glass door going out to a tiny deck that we never used.  So, part of the job had them removing both the existing window and the sliding glass door and placing a new window (one large enough to meet egress requirements) where the door was.  They would do all the construction work (framing, sheetrock, etc).  They also removed and disposed of the deck for us. We had talked to several other vendors but chose Windows & Doors by Brownell mostly because we felt that they cared about doing a quality job and were capable of doing a good job on the construction aspects.  There is a lot of debate over window quality but I like Marvin windows.  But let's face it, there are other windows of similar (and better) quality and if you actually make an apples-to-apples comparison of the windows and find the window (and price point) you want, the primary variation between contractors is the quality of construction work they do.  Hence, for me, the hard part was choosing someone to do the work, comparing the pros and cons of different windows was much easier. We opted to have them pre-stain the windows and trim.  Part of that was a time savings so we didn't have to that.  Part of it was that they would remove all the hardware from the windows prior to staining and hence do a much better job than what we would after the windows were installed. Within an hour of starting the job they knew they had a massive problem on their hands; there was a lot of water infiltration along one wall causing a lot of rot.  In addition, they also found that the original construction was "a little lacking."  For example, there should have been support under the slider to the concrete foundation, but there wasn't. Because this is part of a condo association, we had to get the association's management company into the loop. So, what happened: The windows themselves were installed without any problems.  The staining job was impeccable.  The trim work was excellent; all the joints were nice and tight.   For the rot issues they worked with our condo association; some of the work they did, some the association did.  But they also kept an eye on the association's people for me.  They built support under the slider and jacked up that wall to get the sag out.  After the work was done, they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. One complication in all this was that I broke my ankle shortly after they started their work.  With the construction being in VT and my living in Mass, getting things finished, like putting the shades and curtains back was going to get complicated.  I sent them an email saying I wouldn't be coming back and my wife would go up to do those things.  They asked why so I told them.  At that point, they volunteered to come in and help with all of that. Bottom line: Everything they did was excellent.  They went out of their way on several occasions, such as coming out to Quechee to measure on two-hour notice, after a full day of work, because we were going back to Massachusetts.  The work they did exceeded my expectations for quality.  The construction work they did for the rot repair and sagging wall was well done.  They went well beyond the call of duty when they found out about my ankle. If you're looking for a quality job, I recommend them to you without any reservation.

    FBI Contracting
When Frank showed up at my house to quote he came armed with all the information and samples I needed to make a decision.  He stepped me through the pro's and con's of the options and also the pricing difference.  There was no pressure in his sales speech just facts.  We talked for a long time and it was evident that Frank really new his business and takes great pride in his work. After he stepped me through everything I think we stood around and chatted about all sorts of things for another hour or so, really easy to work with. Frank provided a detailed professional quote, and worked with me when I made changes to what I wanted.  Additionally he was very responsive to my emails both before I signed the contract and after. I have an old colonial and there are/where many challenges in siding the house.  Franks attention to detail and desire for perfection shown through on his work.  I saw him rip sections out and rework it when it wasn't up to his standards, even when he wasn't aware that I was paying attention, and to be honest the stuff he ripped out I couldn't see anything wrong with. He was timely every day and at the end of the day cleaned the work site up prior to leaving. I guess the best compliment I can give is that he is a true craftsman and takes great pride in his work and in being professional.  I will hire him again for other Siding, Roofing or Door and Window projects.
